As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

Perfumelady - Hi I'm new to this site, but reading down I see you live near Portsmouth. I live in Bedhampton and have a 12 year old daughter with Urban Angels. She's just done a casting for Empire Stores in London, waiting to hear now. Has your daughter had many castings since being with them. My daughter has had 2 but we only joined in November, is this about average? Would be interested to know where you are.

perfumelady · 20/01/2006 13:31

mum23girls , hi we only started with urban angels from the oct 05 in take. we have also had one casting which unfortuatly she didn't get, have had a couple of calls one for a commercial but she couldn't do what they needed her to do, and one was for a job abroad but our passports had expired so we missed out on that also ,never mind at least i know she is being considered.

i'm in email contact with a mum of an angel(age 11) and she also went to the empire casting, just spoke to her today, she is also waiting to hear. good luck with that.

from what i can gather nov, dec ,jan is a quiet time, hopefully things will pick up soon. urban angels do seem to have a steady amount of work going on and where they don't have loads of children on there books the work chances are quite high i would imagine.

good luck to all the children going to the jan in take for urban angels.

izzyrubi, i have found out a friend's dd is with b&b. She likes them. Two shoots that i took my dd on there were kids from b&b too. hth

pimms, MOT got back to me the next morning .. so a week is ages, altho they do say they reply within 14 days.

Been doing the rounds for castings too, Empire and commercials, and waiting to hear .. good that they've been out of school times.

Hi mythumberlinas,
Hope you managed to get a copy of the BHS catalogue...its lovely seeing them in print isn't it!! Glad to hear you are still busy..is it your elder ones turn this time???

mythumbelinas · 20/01/2006 17:44

Hi yackertyyack, yeah it is lovely, i popped in bhs and picked up several copies!!
I had castings for both, but i know there's only a slim chance for these as they see so many kids. Good to finally get the experience tho .. for me and the kids.

yackertyyack · 20/01/2006 17:52

I know what you mean....I have got 'quite a few' mothercare catalogues! Its easier when they just get picked for a job isn't it?? Saves the trek to castings and hanging around. BTW what page is she on in the catalogue so I can look out for her? I will keep my fingers crossed for you that your girls are lucky.

lanismum · 20/01/2006 17:58

if my dd was in a catalogue id take all of them from the shop

Gumbee · 20/01/2006 20:41

Hi AllieP30, how do you get on today with Childsplay? my DD 2.5 recently got accepted there but I thought the fees were too expensive, but interested to see how you got on. Anyone actually had any work with Alphabet Kidz and how much do you need to pay? - I have this evening e-mailed some photos to them.

Hello all. I was very impressed. Agree it is pricey but many not interested in her cos they have others that look similar or because of where we live. They seem to have done some good work, and were up front and honest. Still waiting to hear from Alphabet Kidz..will bide my time and see what they say, but I reckon I may give them a go. At least I get to keep the pics, they're updated mid year, and it would cost me that to get them done locally anyway...We shall see. Gonna have a think about it first. My mum made her perform her adorable tricks like a little seal.. talk about pushy Nan! Thanks for all your help ladies anything interesting happen today that I missed?
Working on the info CYAN. Unfortunately they found me some work to do last night.. what a cheek hope the pub was good

thorntons · 20/01/2006 21:11

Hi Izzyrubi my 2 year old munchkin is with Bruce and Brown. Last year she modelled for Zara,Monsoon,Debenhams,Huggies and Babierus. Staff are very friendly and efficient. We did not pay any joining fees at all. However from march 2006 there will be a annual fee of 25 GBP re website maintenance which I think is perfectly reasonable.

Izzy> looking through JUNIOR mag today and some of the models in there come from B&B. So they definately do get work - think they are very similar to KidsLondon and MOT. Do they request sole rep???

Hi yesB and B - require sole representation. Agree with Yackety Yack work on similar lines to Kids London and MOT. DD also modelled for Junior Pregnancy and Baby when she was just 4 months old. We treat it as a well paid hobby. I work part time so sometimes find it difficult to juggle shoots and castings as I am sure you know they are generally booked at the last minute.Good luck re what ever you decide.
