As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

We live in the manchester area does anyone recommend some agencies?

Should we be prepared to travel ie to London?

At what stage if any, do you pay an agencies?

That's great! What do you think you will do, the only thing's that I think they require sole rep, do you want me to have a look through my paperwork for you? I could give you all the costs etc for joining if you like?
Have you booked an interview yet? They must have got back reakky quickly to you, they are generally quite prompt.
My ds is quite poorly at the mo, he's got a chest infection and is really unhappy, I hate it when babies are poorly. Poor little man x

cyan · 22/01/2006 13:36

izzy are you one of the ones going to urban angels? Have you tried them because it seems there are a few on here who are going? x

hi izzi ill have a look through the stuff and post it later.
my birth story was featured in p&b, small but still something to cut out and keep for when ds is older.
i mentioned previously about the newspaper I wrote a feature for and they asked me if they could use charlie to complement the feature.
I did stuff for university on having a baby etc but can't really utilise that anymore seeing as I graduated in July. I suppose sometimes it's about being in the right place at the right time.
When you have had your second baby then it will be great because you will have 9 magical months to cut out and keep, which is fab because it's quite a long spread and they follow you up in the following mag.
Sometimes it's worth judt contacting mags/papers to see if they need any babies for a particular spread.
Take Care and have a great day too x

hey izzy/allie/77777....have you read the post dated 10th jan???? Someone has done a brief outline of quite a few of the agencies and it has some very good comments that you may be interested in to help you with choosing an agent!!
Has anyone had any good castings/jobs recently?????

do any of you get regular work!!

cyan · 22/01/2006 19:15

Hiya izzy,

Just pulled out the stiff from Norrie,

My suspicions were correct they do require sole rep they say:
'NCA shall be the Model's only agency to obtain work. If you are with more than one agent you will find yourself being suggested for the same auditions by different agents which reflects poorly on the agency.'
I can sort of see where they are coming from I suppose. Is anyone here with more than one agency and have they ever actually been put for the same casting?

You do have to pay a consultation fee which is £20 which they probably told you anyway. Also it costs £65 for the photoshoot which is done at their studios in Holborn. You are expected to reserve a space in the Model book which is £70-£100 but I don't think they do that until September /October time. So really they are more costly than some of the other agencies. WHen you actually work out the total cost it's amazing ow much some charge! It' worth sitting down and having a real think which one's best for you I suppose.

I fancy Urban Angels now! They charge £40 for 2 photoshoots a year and there's no registration fee I don't think!

ARe you going to see them?

mykidsmum · 22/01/2006 19:18

Urban Angels are sole rep too

Yeah we are seeing them on the 4th of feb also. I think its about 2 ish. Im terrible I cant remember the time gonna have to read the email again.
We are with BK at the moment but was recommended to try Urban Angels as they are meant to be very good for babies.
So which agency are you with at the moment? Or are you still deciding?
Sorry if you have already said I get so confused reading all thru the thread

Hello chums. I can't read all the stuff you've written today. My brain isn't working! Childsplay was great, but going to try lots of others too before we decide what to do. Haven't had any other offers yet but applied this weekend so will wait til working week starts. It took me just over an hour to get there which wasn't too bad.. thought it was going to be double that. You all have lots going on so will keep my on checking to see what's new, and who else I can pester ha! Izzy, have you thought about modelling with little one too?? You have an extra asset at the mo!

alliep30 · 22/01/2006 21:18

PS Hope the poorly babies feel better soon. Mine is doing a great impression of a snot factory at the mo. Cyan, story is being worked on!
