So which one do you want to be Christmas number 1?
I have downloaded RATM.

it's not so much about as to anyone 'giving a shit',i think (to me at least) it is about people being bored of hearing the same old boring pop songs on the radio. sure,if i wanna listen to rock music so desperately i can turn the radio over to Kerrang radio. but some of us actually wanna listen to a diverse mix,so will put on ur standard staion like Absolute etc. at least they play a decent mix of music and dont just spew out what is deemed popular for that time.

anyway i give this Joe kid 15 mins before he disappears off into the bargain bins of HMV.

OrmIrian · 16/12/2009 11:55

I don't listen the pop radio, I don't watch X-Factor, I don't give a flying toss who is no 1. But I like RATM a lot. And I don't like cute little pop songs in general. I want my 'pop' music to be loud and raucous and adrenalin making. If I want gentle, melodious and uplifting I go for a composer born before 1900.

RATM - flip, that takes me back a bit. Proper music where no-one cares what you look like, or wants to interview you for pointless teenage/chat magazines.

BeckynSteve · 16/12/2009 13:25

joe joe joe!

feetheart · 16/12/2009 14:00

Anyone mentioned the slightly bonkers, but brilliant, Bob Dylan track yet?

Yes, it's been mentioned. But this campaign is not about depriving Simon Cowell of money.

MumOfAPickle · 16/12/2009 14:29

Has anyone heard the Bob Dylan one? I know its a bit nuts but I think I might just love it quite a lot

Its Christmassy too!

MumOfAPickle · 16/12/2009 14:30

Ooooh feetheart you and me both!

MattBellamysMuse · 16/12/2009 14:31

What is this song? Where can I hear it?

Kaloki · 16/12/2009 14:47

"Yes, it's been mentioned. But this campaign is not about depriving Simon Cowell of money."

What is it about?

It's definitely not stoppping corporations from running the charts
It's also not about real music (as opposed to fake music )

If you like RATM then sure, buy the single, but why the "campaign"?

Also, the last time I cared about the Xmas no.1, I was very young. And to the best of my knowledge, the no.1 still mainly matters to the youngest of listeners. Why do small children need RATM to be No.1? Most of them wont be allowed to listen to it because of the profanity anyway.

MattBellamysMuse · 16/12/2009 14:55

Kaloki, if you don't give a damn, then just ignore it. Simples.

Kaloki · 16/12/2009 15:01

But I'm genuinely curious..

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 16/12/2009 15:04

I believe there's a radio edit.

Surely Simon Cowell doesn't actually own Sony? is it not more likely that his company is owned by Sony?

And if he does own Sony, maybe he could stop popping up on the telly to annoy us, and just stay at home rolling round on a big pile of cash all day...

motheroftwoboys · 16/12/2009 15:14

LOVE Killing in the Name but, just out of interest, how many of you listen to Amazing Radio? All the music played on there is from unsigned bands and they put their songs their songs onto Amazingtunes.com and get 70% of the money that people pay to download the tracks. It is brilliant and totally diverse. Give it a try!

harleyd · 16/12/2009 15:19

lol seriously?? my 3yo rocks out to it all the time

Kaloki · 16/12/2009 15:26

"lol seriously?? my 3yo rocks out to it all the time"

Fair enough I know loads of people who wont allow their kids to listen to songs with profanity though

mozette · 16/12/2009 15:26

Just read this -

Cowell won?t benefit financial from this, it doesn?t matter if both parties are involved in Sony. Rage own the publishing rights and are signed to Epic which is an imprint.

jeep · 16/12/2009 15:33

what's bob released then? the thought of him doing a christmas album is quite funny.

just listened to the ratm dirge song, you people really like that shite?

OrmIrian · 16/12/2009 15:44

DS#1's favourite band is Green Day. So bang goes the idea of not letting DC listen to profanity
