So which one do you want to be Christmas number 1?
I have downloaded RATM.

Apparently Simon Cowell thinks I am a bully for buying RATM and not his single (whoever sings it is immaterial, the money goes to Cowell, the singer is just a puppet).
Apparently if Rage are no 1 then we have denied an 18 year old his first no 1. The arrogance of the man astounds me.
He assumes that the X Factor single will be no 1.
That's what gets my goat. He has no musical integrity. It's all about the money to him. he is exploiting all the comtestants to his own ends.
He promises the world and where do they end up? Claiming the dole in 6 months.
You simply cannot have a successful career in the music industry without any talent (unless you are in a girl/boy band, but that's not really music is it?).
Campaign baked by a real musician
And we've raised £50,000 for Shelter

Yes, I did like that comment about denying an 18 year old his first number 1. Welcome to the real world - it's HARD getting ANYWHERE in any creative industry, let alone reach wide recognition.

What about all the other 18 year olds with actual talents that don't even make the top 40 - are they being bullied too?

sweetnitanitro · 19/12/2009 13:21

Tom Morello says that RATM will play a massive free gig if they get the Christmas number 1.

I love it!
RATM are not even good enough to make it through boot camp, according to this year's X factor winner.
That has to be the quote of the year.
I bet RATM are gutted by that comment.

"But the Miley version is better"

Now that is a sentence I never dreamt I would say, especially out loud, lol!!!

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 19/12/2009 14:08

I have now heard both songs and neither is Christmas #1 material.

Hulababy · 19/12/2009 14:10

I want a proper cheesy Christmassy song. Bring back Slade

RubberDuck · 19/12/2009 14:14

Tim Minchin's "White Wine in the Sun" is a good Christmassy song. I bought that as well as RATM.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 19/12/2009 14:15

I have just been forced to listen to Miley Cyrus singing it and it is vastly superior to Joe's version.

Hulababy · 19/12/2009 14:17

Exactly DoesntChristmasDragOn - and I really never thought such a sentence would I utter! But at least she sings it with some feeling. Joe's version is so dull and boring, like a dirge.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 19/12/2009 14:31

I had to chop my fingers off after I'd typed it Now using my nose.

But yes, hers is full of feeling Listen to the opening sequence, there is depth and she knows you don't have to just belt a song out.

juneybean · 19/12/2009 14:36

The way I looked at it is the other day me and my friend were looking at the christmas no. 1s from the year of our birth and I just thought how bizarre would it be to find out in 20 years time that yours was RATM lol. Unless you then like that sort of music, but most teens go through that phase.

StealthPolarBear · 19/12/2009 17:06

when did "of" get dropped from the title?

sweetnitanitro · 19/12/2009 17:21

The 'of' has never been part of the title but that's how the lyrics go so it often gets called that.

StealthPolarBear · 19/12/2009 17:23

really? I had never noticed!

SleightiesChick · 19/12/2009 23:19

Sorry if this has been covered, but does anyone know whether the 29p version of the Rage download does or doesn't get counted towards the chart position? I have seen it stated elsewhere on the net that it doesn't count but I'd like to know for sure before midnight so I can get a download that counts.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/12/2009 23:19

It's always been Killing in the Name.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/12/2009 23:22

Sleightieschick, apparently the 29p download does count. Download and spread the word! Only 40 minutes left to put a stop to the x-factor monopoly.

Done! Bought it for 99p earlier on iTunes. And I already had it in the first place.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/12/2009 23:33

me too. I now have it twice on m iPod. I'll be so disappointed if Rage are not number one.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/12/2009 23:35

Eyethingy, but The Climb is a pile of shite.

Eyethingy - I'm actually a long-time X factor watcher, and I do think Joe is a good singer, but - oh, the irony - the one thing he doesn't have is the X factor. His duet with George Michael was fantastic, but The Climb is truly awful, and I'm fed up with Simon Cowell assuming he can make his winner record any old shite and get Christmas no. 1 every year. Nothing against Joe, but I'm sure he will end up in a good West End musicals career anyway. What is good is that it's made the charts interesting to me for the first time in years.

MattBellamysMuse · 19/12/2009 23:51

This is the first time in ages that i' ve cared which song gets to Christmas number one. Tis fun!
