Hi UNROOTED testers,

Welcome to your UNROOTED product test feedback thread - we're so excited to have you all here! 🌿✨

Over the next week, you'll be putting UNROOTED's Good Fibre Baobab Sachets to the test. This thread is where we'd love you to share your experiences as you go along.

You'll be trying one high-fibre sachet each day for seven days, incorporating it into your routine in whatever way works best for you. Whether that's blended in a smoothie, stirred into porridge, swirled into yoghurt, mixed into juice, or something else entirely, we'd love to hear how you're getting on.

Getting started

  • Had you heard of baobab before taking part in this test?
  • What were your first impressions when your products arrived?
  • Which recipe or drink are you planning to try first?

Using the sachets

  • What have you been mixing your sachets into?
  • How easy have you found it to incorporate into your daily routine?
  • What do you think of the taste and texture?
  • Have you discovered any favourite ways to enjoy it?

Your experience throughout the week

  • How are you finding the product as you continue testing?
  • Have you tried it in a few different recipes or drinks?
  • Has anything surprised you so far?
  • What are you enjoying most about the product?

Photos are encouraged if you're happy to share them 📸 We'd love to see your smoothies, breakfasts, juices and any other creative ways you're using the sachets.

Please make sure you're updating this thread regularly throughout the testing period - we're keen to hear about your experience as it develops, not just at the end.

UNROOTED's baobab sachets are designed to boost your daily fibre intake - as each sachet is 11% of your RDA of fibre. Fibre is essential for good gut health, so these boosters are super convenient to turning your normal breakfast into a high fibre breakfast. Having too much fibre in one go if you're not used to it can lead to stomach aches and bloating, so incorporating small inclusions of additional fibre more regularly is the key to bringing more fibre into your diet and feeling its benefits! Baobab also benefits from containing both soluble and insoluble fibre, supporting your gut from start to finish.

Thanks again for taking part, and happy testing!

I really wanted to like these but for me they just caused bloating and on one occasion cramping and diarrhoea. After Day 5 I decided not to continue and the bloating and cramping disappeared.

Mixing them into yoghurt or a smoothie worked well but I don't always want that for breakfast and the taste was too sour to mix with my other go to breakfasts.

I like the idea though. I might recommend them to someone wanting to try to increase their fibre intake to see how they got on with them but I certainly won't be buying any more.

Tried it my morning mocha. I normally take a collagen powder (chocolate flavoured) in hot almond milk and add in a couple of shots of coffee. I use a milk frother so chucked the powder in as well. Was worried it would be too powdery so up the amount of almond milk. Again no noticeable taste. it mixed well but there was some noticeable burning on the bottom of the frother. It seems to me that breakfast is the natural point to use this and it would work well in yoghurts, porridge etc. Being a diabetic, I generally eat a low carb diet with a lot of veg and pulses so plenty of fibre. I didn’t find that this spiked my sugars. I do think it’s a bit of faff to get an additional 3g of fibre. (Fybogel is easier to take). Then again why not eat a carrot. I’m not sure who the target market for this would be.

Lulumaria · 16/06/2026 22:30

So my first thoughts are that I love the packaging and it was super easy to use. I have heard of Baobab and I’m into the super powders that are good for your health.

first, I mixed it with my morning hot drink but it didn’t dissolve easily so then I used it in an orange juice based smoothie, which complemented its tangy citrus taste. I also added it to porridge.

it’s super easy to add it to pretty much anything but the smoothie just made sense. I managed to forget to have it today so it was easy to forget about it but I am a busy mum.

I like the taste and the texture but once mixed you can’t really notice it.

convenience and the fact it’s a super food powder is probably the best thing about it. Although, I’d love to see a few different powders in one and if I were to buy it, at a reasonable price.

I have finally used up all the sachets of unrooted good fibre Baobab. They are so versatile and taste great. I have even purchased more for the whole family. They recipe cards gave some great tips and I have used them for inspiration.

collywobble · 17/06/2026 11:26

Used my final one now and did the most convenient way with the water bottle and shake. I enjoy the versatility of this and find it mixes well with most things. I really have noticed a difference in my gut health overall it really is quite noticeable which is a real benefit for me and would make be buy the product again.

RuthCart · 17/06/2026 13:56

I have found it easy to add into my routine, opting to stir into my yoghurt at breakfast. I've found the added fibre a benefit to my ibs and it's been a easy way to make sure I'm getting a bit more each day. I did try it in a smoothie but the citrus taste didn't sit well with a milk base. Easy to add into my morning routine and I think I will keep it going.

I have had a few more of these, mainly in porridge as I've been cold in the mornings! I've also had it in my protein shake and I was concerned it might ruin a nice chocolate flavoured shake with being too bitter, but fortunately the chocolate flavour overpowered it.

It is a bit too tart for me overall though I am planning to try the chia pudding tomorrow and it sounds like it could be quite nice in that. In some of my usual breakfasts, it's not really the right flavour but I can generally override it with other things!

The sachets are really convenient but I do wonder about what looks like a plasticy lining and whether they could just be all paper.

pinkflump2020 · 17/06/2026 20:14

I had never heard of these before but I’m pleasantly surprised. They don’t change the taste or texture of what you add them into so you can’t really tell that they’re in there!

I’ve tried in a smoothie, porridge and a yoghurt bowl and I’m impressed 👌

Roundaboot · 17/06/2026 21:55

If anyone is looking for an easy but more palatable fibre fix, I tried the new M&S drink today. It's called Pop Marks and has 7g of fibre per can. I had the pink lemonade flavour and it was pretty good! Not as nice as their regular pink lemonade but I'd have it again.

MrsMabelThorpe · 17/06/2026 23:36

Overnight oats were a success with the powder! Would make again.

I have noticed a difference in my "morning routine" (ahem) for the better. I might buy more but the price does put me off tbh.

Overnight oats with mango and passionfruit

  • Had you heard of baobab before taking part in this test?
no I hadn’t heard of it!
  • What were your first impressions when your products arrived?
I really liked the packaging, especially the feel of them. They were really easy to open and use. Using the sachets
  • What have you been mixing your sachets into?
morning yoghurt and fruit, my evening drinks
  • How easy have you found it to incorporate into your daily routine?
Really easy. They just pour in then you don’t really know they are there.
  • What do you think of the taste and texture?
I really like it ( just not in hot chocolate!) I did lick some raw powder just to see what it was like and the taste was really good
  • Have you discovered any favourite ways to enjoy it?
in yoghurt or smoothies

Really enjoying testing this!

StickChildNumberTwo · 18/06/2026 16:05

I made the blueberry compote from one of the recipe cards, couldn't be bothered with the other bits (not a huge fan of the texture of chia seeds), so stirred the powder into Greek yogurt and added the compote and it worked well.

Overall I like the product and if I was determined to add more fibre to my diet might buy it, but it feels like I don't eat enough of the right sort of thing to easily use it regularly. I'm not a big breakfast eater so stirring it into yogurt/overnight oats etc will never fit my patterns.

fififrillyfolle · 19/06/2026 10:12

Overall I was a bit disappointed in the product. I found it difficult to incorporate into my routine, as someone who doesn't usually have smoothies or yoghurt and doesn't own a blender. It seems from other people's feedback that these are the best options to mask the weird taste and texture.
It was hard to mix into water, created a lot of foam and had an offputting 'bin juice' smell and gritty texture.

The benefits of baobab vs other fibre supplements (e.g. psyllium, lepicol) are unclear.
The sachet format seems wasteful and overly expensive, vs just buying a jar of baobab powder or psyllium husk from Holland & Barrett.
The recipe ideas looked tasty but too breakfast-based for me and high effort. Also the fact that the recipes were multi-portion but only asked for 1 sachet means it adds such a tiny amount of fibre, doesn't feel worthwhile. I'd like to see savoury options to stop it from feeling like a 'breakfast only' supplement.

NormasArse · 19/06/2026 14:02

So, I’m afraid I didn’t add it to anything, because if I’m honest, I started to look forward to it in my water- it just tasted refreshing, and slightly sour- which I like.

I don’t really do smoothies, as I enjoy whole fruit, and I work 10 hour days, so I tend to have eggs for breakfast, as they’re quick.

10/10 for the effect on my bowel movements though! I shall definitely start to use this regularly (IBS sufferer).

Thank you! 😃

I hadn’t researched the cost. I now see that, buying once from Amazon and not on subscription, a 7 sachet box works out at £265.63/kg and my usual psyllium husk powder is £18/kg, so it’s more than 14 times more expensive per gram. I didn’t find it more effective.

The sachets might be handy to take on holiday but for everyday use I won’t be buying it.

kimi7 · 20/06/2026 15:32

The packaging looks good, and sachets would be convenient for travelling. Maybe another option like a jar for home use would be good. The baobab picture brought back memories of seeing these amazing trees whilst travelling in southern Africa years ago 😊

Wasn't a fan of drinking this in water - for me the best way was mixed in with overnight oats. I noticed that the result was thicker than normal, so I added more liquid to get back to the normal texture. Couldn't taste any difference as I also use berries and cinnamon, which seemed to disguise the flavour of the product.

Also tried with berries and yogurt, which was fine.

Whilst I like the principle of adding fibre, I'd be more likely to use this product when travelling i.e. if I have less choice re: food and wouldn't necessarily get a normal level of fibre. It's quite expensive, so it wouldn't be an everyday purchase.

madmumm · 20/06/2026 21:49

I've tried Unrooted with Greek yoghurt and fruit and also just with water. Both were easy to drink/eat and only noticed a mild citrus taste in the water. A good easy way to get extra fibre in, the sachets made the correct amount simple to add to food or water.
I feel the cost is quite high though for 7 days. It it was sold in a jar instead, this could bring the costs down as an alternative to the convenience of sachets. To get honest I've not noticed much difference, but would happily continue with this supplement.

sakura222333 · 21/06/2026 22:09

Never heard of baobab before taking part in this test. It had nice packaging and came with 3 recipe cards. I tried the lemon and blueberry chia pudding first as I already had all the ingredients in my cupboards. The sachets were very easy to mix in. The sachets are easy to mix into most recipes. Once the sachets are incorporated into a recipe I couldn't taste them they just blended in. I going to try the kiwi berry smoothie next to see how that ones tastes.

Charlvd · 22/06/2026 17:04

Loved the recipe ideas, particularly the muesli and smoothie ones.

Shoom72 · 22/06/2026 17:05

Loved my sachets, great for taking away on a short break and so so easy to use!

NerrSnerr · 22/06/2026 17:07

I have finished testing it and tried it by itself and with different recipes. I liked it by itself, it tasted like lemon squash. I also liked it in a banana and strawberry smoothie.

it did make me feel fuller for longer and I liked that I had increased my fibre. I would buy these again if I saw them in the shop.

IveLostMyUsername · 22/06/2026 17:14

Have also tried it mixed with yoghurt, and on its own as a drink. Worked much better in the smoothie and yoghurt, as a drink it was like a mocktail, ok but I much preferred it the other two ways

BristolGymMom · 22/06/2026 17:20

I was keen to increase my fibre intake and was pleased to be selected for this trial! Like others, I liked the packaging and ideas for inclusion into my diet. Bonus points for recyclability!
I don't tend to eat the things that recipe cards suggested so tried in water instead and found it hardish to dissolve. Once I had, the flavour was inoffensive and very drinkable. Unfortunately the product seemed to work too well and upset my tummy so I stopped after a couple of days. I might try a smaller amount another time as am keen to make use of the idea - simple and easy!

SheerSerendipity · 22/06/2026 17:26

I really wanted to like these sachets as I’m constantly trying to improve my diet, however these left me bloated and nauseous. They have a bitter aftertaste (in the same way almonds do) so finding recipes to hide the taste was time consuming and expensive. Sadly therefore I wouldn’t recommend these.
