Hi UNROOTED testers,

Welcome to your UNROOTED product test feedback thread - we're so excited to have you all here! 🌿✨

Over the next week, you'll be putting UNROOTED's Good Fibre Baobab Sachets to the test. This thread is where we'd love you to share your experiences as you go along.

You'll be trying one high-fibre sachet each day for seven days, incorporating it into your routine in whatever way works best for you. Whether that's blended in a smoothie, stirred into porridge, swirled into yoghurt, mixed into juice, or something else entirely, we'd love to hear how you're getting on.

Getting started

  • Had you heard of baobab before taking part in this test?
  • What were your first impressions when your products arrived?
  • Which recipe or drink are you planning to try first?

Using the sachets

  • What have you been mixing your sachets into?
  • How easy have you found it to incorporate into your daily routine?
  • What do you think of the taste and texture?
  • Have you discovered any favourite ways to enjoy it?

Your experience throughout the week

  • How are you finding the product as you continue testing?
  • Have you tried it in a few different recipes or drinks?
  • Has anything surprised you so far?
  • What are you enjoying most about the product?

Photos are encouraged if you're happy to share them 📸 We'd love to see your smoothies, breakfasts, juices and any other creative ways you're using the sachets.

Please make sure you're updating this thread regularly throughout the testing period - we're keen to hear about your experience as it develops, not just at the end.

UNROOTED's baobab sachets are designed to boost your daily fibre intake - as each sachet is 11% of your RDA of fibre. Fibre is essential for good gut health, so these boosters are super convenient to turning your normal breakfast into a high fibre breakfast. Having too much fibre in one go if you're not used to it can lead to stomach aches and bloating, so incorporating small inclusions of additional fibre more regularly is the key to bringing more fibre into your diet and feeling its benefits! Baobab also benefits from containing both soluble and insoluble fibre, supporting your gut from start to finish.

Thanks again for taking part, and happy testing!

Been adding to Greek yogurt, granola and fruit. Was initially a bit spooked by how much powder there is, and the texture when I stirred it through the yogurt, but there was so discernible change in taste or texture. Added to porridge the next day: again did nothing to alter the taste. Will make a smoothie today.
I’m picky about odd textures or flavours, so I’m happy that it’s not detectable.

ThaneOfGlamis · 16/06/2026 13:40

Having got to the end I feel that it is something I would use on occasion, but probably not daily. It seems very convenient for out and about, although would be better with a side rip to open it.

I didn't love the taste in food, so would be most likely to have in water. I couldn't taste it in juice, but don't want juice every day. I found the food texture issue went away if I mixed with a small amount of hot water first. Having glass of it in water with breakfast definitely kept me fuller for longer.

Packaging wise, I would prefer if there was a larger bag that I could take a spoonful from, as a plastic lined sachet doesn't seem great environmentally.

archaeoptyrx · 16/06/2026 17:06

End of the week. Really pleased that I could be part of this. I will definitely buy the sachets again. I came to like the taste and the feeling of fullness plus it kept me regular! My top taste is definitely with yoghurt and fruit. Thank you for the opportunity.

mrsminx · 16/06/2026 17:07

My package arrived a little late but have been able to try it a few times already. I had hear of baobab before but didn't know of its benefits. I really like the packaging, nice bright colour and easy to store

I have mixed into water but I prefer into yogurt, its really easy to add to a daily routine. Its a great way of getting additional fibre into the diet and I think it would benefit the whole family without them noticing!

MachineBee · 16/06/2026 17:08

I didn’t really enjoy this product. I experienced physical discomfort (cramping and diarrhoea) after 3 days which took 2 days to settle down even though I didn’t consume anymore.

Hulbg1 · 16/06/2026 17:13

Works well with juices and cordials on it's own it's a bit tastless their is a slight hint of citrus. Was great mixed in with porridge and cereals. Was unnoticeable, would definetely continue to use it.Even added it to gravy. All in all an inoffensive way to get more fibre into your diet.

End of the week and really pleased I was picked for this. It's a great way of being able to get more fiber in my diet which I was definitely lacking. Iv been mostly adding it to yogurt and can't taste the difference when I do. Will definitely be purchasing more.

CarlaTheTester · 16/06/2026 17:29

Here’s a series of posts. I have tried Unrooted every day, but not been able to report until now.

  • Had you heard of baobab before taking part in this test? Yes, but not tried it.
  • What were your first impressions when your products arrived? It seemed a small sachet.

On day 1 I added to my morning porridge, which is just oats and milk heated together. I put a satsuma on top to go with my iron tablet. (Taking vitamin C helps the iron absorption.)

The powder blended in easily. I was delighted with the fruity taste. I usually add sugar or golden syrup on top of the porridge, but didn’t need to - a definite plus.

I thought it was really easy to use. I like the paper packaging and I like how small the sachets are. I tried it with water first and it had a slightly citrus flavour with no aftertaste which is very nice. I don’t really drink that much water though, and don’t really eat much breakfast but I tried it with some porridge and I don’t taste anything weird in there. The texture remain the same. I tried it in some yoghurt as well, which didn’t change the texture or taste. I haven’t heard of this product before, but it is a good way to get my fibre intake. The recipe cards are nice, but there need to be more recipes. I will add it to whatever I’m cooking in the future. I thought the product is very easy to use. Nothing has surprise me so far.

CarlaTheTester · 16/06/2026 17:33

On day 2 I added the sachet to a glass of water.

Normally I have 10g of psyllium husk powder in water each day, but the Unrooted blended in much more easily and was more pleasant to drink. It doesn’t provide quite enough fibre for me, though, so I’ll continue with the sachets but also have a reduced amount of psyllium husk powder separately.

On day 3 I tried adding Unrooted to my cooked storecupboard vegetarian casserole.
The powder blended in easily but was wasted as I couldn’t really taste it, and I enjoy the taste.

Casserole ingredients: passata, Quorn, fresh carrots cut small, frozen sweet potato chunks, sweetcorn and peas, and raisins.
Start with Passata and Quorn, when bubbling add the other ingredients to a large pan on the hob one at a time.
Total cooking time - 15 minutes.
Add parsley to serve.

I usually start with a can of tomatoes, but didn’t have any so used a can of passata this time instead.

I’ve really enjoyed trying the sachets this week. I’d heard of baobab before but never tried it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to add into my daily routine. I’ve mainly mixed it into yoghurt and smoothies, where it blended well and didn’t overpower the flavour. The individual sachets are really convenient, especially on busy mornings, and the recipe cards gave me some lovely ideas too. It feels like a simple way to boost my fibre intake without having to make big changes to what I already eat. Overall, it’s a product I’d happily continue using and would recommend to anyone looking for an easy fibre boost.

CarlaTheTester · 16/06/2026 17:46

On day 4 I had Skyr for my breakfast. This is a high protein low calorie dairy product.

Once again the Unrooted blended in easily and gave the Skyr a more interesting taste.

CarlaTheTester · 16/06/2026 17:48

On day 5 I added the powder to my Skyr, and served with flaked almonds to add extra protein.

This made an interesting change from plain Skyr, which I’ll try again.

On Day 6 I tried Unrooted with plain water again. This is a quick, tasty way to get extra fibre into my diet.

On day 7 I soaked milk and oats together in a Pyrex bowl overnight, and cooked them in the microwave in the morning.

After putting a portion in a dessert bowl I stirred in a sachet of Unrooted, and topped with sliced banana. It was all looking a bit beige, so I added three glacé cherries for a bit of colour. All good.

Unrooted is a simple, quick way to add fibre to your diet. It also adds a very enjoyable flavour to otherwise bland food. Unless you’re just wanting to add fibre to a diet it’s a bit wasted in a more strongly flavoured food.

I need a lot of fibre in my diet so it doesn’t completely replace what I normally have, but is a good addition.
It would be invaluable on holiday if you’re not cooking for yourself, as you could stir it into pre-prepared food (porridge, yoghurt, muesli/granola or savoury dishes) or just in a glass of water.

Inspired by one of the recipe cards, I added the Unrooted sachet to my overnight oats with chocolate protein powder, frozen raspberries, oats, yoghurt, milk and peanut butter. I was a bit worried it might be a powder overload with the protein powder too, but it worked really well. The tang I'd found from the powder before was barely noticeable - I'd definitely use the sachets again like this.

Sachets arrived for us but we were away. Started two days ago, had one in a shake, and one in a bowl of porridge. Seems to be working well, taste pretty nice

Kikep · 16/06/2026 18:44

Love the packaging and design of the packaging , I enjoyed the sachets as a drink and would buy again, A healthy drink and tasty too. I found adding this to cereal was not as nice and I could not taste the sweetness as much.

prettypeace · 16/06/2026 19:12

I mixed the sachet with porridge again which works well. Made the bircher recipe and thought it was delicious. I felt that I was having adverse symptoms from too much fibre but the bircher muesli used one sachet for two breakfasts and for me using half a sachet in this way is a better introduction.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 16/06/2026 19:27

I’ve stuck with adding the sachets to smoothies or smoothie bowls because that’s easiest for me and fits with what I’ve been wanting in the hot weather.

We generally get quite a bit of fibre in our diets, so I haven’t noticed any adverse effects. Where I think this would be very useful is when we’re travelling or away from home and it can be hard to get as much fibre.

outnumbered77 · 16/06/2026 19:42

Today I just stirred the powder into a pot of mango yoghurt and couldn’t really tell it was there after quite a bit of stirring. Overall I’ve enjoyed it but I do feel a bit ahem windier than normal! Not sure it’s something I would buy as there doesn’t seem to be a huge amount of fibre in it and I eat quite a healthy diet otherwise.

StickChildNumberTwo · 16/06/2026 19:51

Today's experiment was to stir it into a shop bought yogurt. It went a bit all over the place and was a faff to stir into a small pot, but I didn't mind the flavour and texture it added so that would work for me if I wanted to use them regularly.

I now need to make the blueberry compote from one of the recipe cards to try with plain yogurt.

Magpie2310 · 16/06/2026 19:57

Used my last one today in my overnight oats for work. As before, didn't really taste the flavour of the sachet in the meal - I forgot I had put one in there until the email hit my inbox tonight to be honest.

Overall, the product seems good. It's easy to mix or dissolve, it doesn't taste too awful that you can't just mix it in water and drink it as is if you forget or don't want to add it to a meal that day, and the sachets are quite convenient to carry around with you if you wanted/needed to.

I can't say I've noticed anything different over the last week in terms of gut health or anything though. None of my 'habits' have changed, so I can only assume this is meant to work on the inside and we're not actually meant to see or feel any obvious differences? Which is a shame, because I can imagine this is quite expensive and to have no measurement of how or if it's working seems a bit silly. I can't see it being something I would purchase myself because of this - I would want to be able to see or feel the results for something like this, a week isn't very long but I would have thought I would have noticed something.
