Hi UNROOTED testers,

Welcome to your UNROOTED product test feedback thread - we're so excited to have you all here! 🌿✨

Over the next week, you'll be putting UNROOTED's Good Fibre Baobab Sachets to the test. This thread is where we'd love you to share your experiences as you go along.

You'll be trying one high-fibre sachet each day for seven days, incorporating it into your routine in whatever way works best for you. Whether that's blended in a smoothie, stirred into porridge, swirled into yoghurt, mixed into juice, or something else entirely, we'd love to hear how you're getting on.

Getting started

  • Had you heard of baobab before taking part in this test?
  • What were your first impressions when your products arrived?
  • Which recipe or drink are you planning to try first?

Using the sachets

  • What have you been mixing your sachets into?
  • How easy have you found it to incorporate into your daily routine?
  • What do you think of the taste and texture?
  • Have you discovered any favourite ways to enjoy it?

Your experience throughout the week

  • How are you finding the product as you continue testing?
  • Have you tried it in a few different recipes or drinks?
  • Has anything surprised you so far?
  • What are you enjoying most about the product?

Photos are encouraged if you're happy to share them 📸 We'd love to see your smoothies, breakfasts, juices and any other creative ways you're using the sachets.

Please make sure you're updating this thread regularly throughout the testing period - we're keen to hear about your experience as it develops, not just at the end.

UNROOTED's baobab sachets are designed to boost your daily fibre intake - as each sachet is 11% of your RDA of fibre. Fibre is essential for good gut health, so these boosters are super convenient to turning your normal breakfast into a high fibre breakfast. Having too much fibre in one go if you're not used to it can lead to stomach aches and bloating, so incorporating small inclusions of additional fibre more regularly is the key to bringing more fibre into your diet and feeling its benefits! Baobab also benefits from containing both soluble and insoluble fibre, supporting your gut from start to finish.

Thanks again for taking part, and happy testing!

Another office breakfast on the go here. Mixed it into a Pret bircher muesli pot. It definitely thickened it but tasted ok.

Will try homemade breakfast tomorrow!

Breakfast this morning:

Yoghurt, peanut butter, jam, oats and I stirred a sachet into the yoghurt.

I found that the powder gave the yoghurt a slightly chalky taste. However this didn't really bother me as it wasn't dissimilar to cheap 'Greek style' yoghurt. Still delicious though.

Added it to Greek yoghurt along with some matcha powder and had it with fruit this morning. It works very well this way. I think I'm getting to like the distinctive taste.

Added the sachet to my granola this morning. It’s made the milk thicker so a different consistency to what I’m used to and it’s added a tangy flavour which I’m not actually enjoying. I like the nutty seeded flavour of my usual cereal and find the unrooted powder detracts from this.

I made the Bircher Muesli recipe for my breakfast today. I halved the recipe as I was only making for myself and there was loads! The picture shows about half of what I made, with a bit of kefir stirred in and blueberry compote from the other recipe card on top.
I really enjoyed it. I couldn't taste the powder at all and it made a very filling breakfast. It'd be a good one to make a big batch of for quick breakfasts

I've found the powder works well with porridge. I add lots of ground almonds, dates and chia seeds and it tasted just as good. I did wonder whether adding chia seeds to recipes in the same way would be just as beneficial (and cheaper!) although having seen the Unrooted website I am more convinced of the benefits to the gut microbiome and am pleased to be a tester.

elrider · 11/06/2026 11:16

My sachets just arrived yesterday afternoon so this morning is the first time that I'm trying them. I had heard of baoab before, but I think it was in the context of hair care ingredients! One of my children left some overnight oats that they made last night and decided not to eat this morning so I have just heated them up as porridge and added my sachet in. I then added some ground flaxseed, almond butter and blueberries on top (see photo). I can't taste the powder very strongly, probably because there's other ingredients in there, but it is enjoyable to eat and I'll probably put it in my protein shake tomorrow and I'll try some of the recipes at some point too. I like the packaging and the sachets are very quick and easy to use!

I’ve tried the breakfast chia, raspberry and lemon recipe again today, swapping the blueberries for raspberries. My initial impression was that it tasted quite sour with the lemon and yoghurt together, but I added a little honey and it completely transformed it was really delicious.

I definitely felt much fuller afterwards compared to my usual breakfast of Greek yoghurt, Weetabix and raspberries, so that’s a great start for me.

I also tried the baobab mixed into fresh water as a drink and found it really easy to mix, with a pleasant taste that was much more palatable than I expected.

One thing that has surprised me is that I had never even heard of baobab before taking part in this test, so it has been really interesting discovering a completely new ingredient and finding different ways to use it.Will do the same again and add some seed mix on top. No upset stomach issues for me which can happen when I try and add more fibre with certain seeds or apricots etc so far so good !

Added it to a banana and strawberry smoothie this morning which worked well as I couldn't taste it at all. I had a lot of bloating yesterday so hoping that doesn't happen again today. So far, so good.

Did not like the powder in water - didn’t mix well so ended up with lumps which made me gag a bit. Taste wasn’t too unpleasant, citrusy, but the texture was gross.

SheerSerendipity · 11/06/2026 12:09

I’ve never heard of Baobab before so I was excited to get started on this product test. the packaging was minimal and would have been good for a reference fibre intake (having looked it up it’s the equivalent to roughly one apple) but was encouraged by the lack of additives.

Day 1 I tried on its own with water and immediately regretted the decision, the taste was so overpowering that I couldn’t stomach finishing it so didn’t get the full effect.

Day 2 I tried it in porridge with a banana, peanut butter and nuts. It changed the texture of the porridge and had a slight bitter after taste but overall wasn’t bad.

This morning (day 3) I had the same porridge as above but added raspberries. The bitterness of the raspberries meant eradicated the bitter after taste of the baobab and I enjoyed it.

Next up I’m planning on trying it in a smoothie as I would like to be able to add it to drink, it’s versatile in this form, I just need to find a way it works for me!

My stomachs not too happy at the moment and it’s increased gas and bloating however I’m going to keep preserving and hope that that settles down!

MilkyMamma · 11/06/2026 13:49

I’ve tried today in what is usually a very bland quick office porridge pot, with some thrown in blueberries and pumpkin seeds and it’s made my lunch much more interesting and tastier than normal! 😋

I had heard of baobab before but never knew what it was. I presume it's some sort of healthy gut thing, I still haven't looked it up properly but I have heard of it.
I was quite impressed when the products arrived as the box itself seems very nice and upmarket, and the recipe cards were more professional and 'fancy' than I expected. I hope to try a sachet in a smoothie and in some overnight oats or a bowl of porridge but so far have only drunk them 'neat' just to get a feel for them - they mix really well, I was quite surprised at there being no lumps or bumps when mixed with water. The taste wasn't something I enjoyed but it didn't make me spit it out so that's something. I presume the baobab makes it taste a little bitter as it's meant to be a fruit flavour but it wasn't all that fruity.

They are fairly easy to use, they mix really well and I reckon if they can dissolve in water that well they should be able to dissolve in other foods and drinks well too. I'm a bit worried the flavour of it will overpower what I put it into, but until I try something other than just a drink of it, it's speculation. Hoping to have today's or tomorrow's in a smoothie and hopefully it won't ruin the taste of the fruits I put in or else it would be just as 'nice' drinking it as it is than ruining a meal or snack with the taste!

Found out it has been delivered today, looking forward to trialling it.

Tried with Breakfast cereals along with nuts..

Easy to mix them in milk.

Tasted good!

I have to say I am a bit gassier and bloatier than usual today. This may be complete coincidence (or obv me imagining it) and even if it is connected, may settle down over a few days regular use.

thindes78 · 11/06/2026 18:15

Mine arrived yesterday. I popped the first sachet in my morning orange juice drink.
I had never heard of baobab before. Overall a positive impression, I love trying out new things, especially ones that can aid your health.
I think I am going to try the next sachet with my Oatmilk tomorrow morning.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 11/06/2026 18:54

Mine arrived today.

I’ve heard of baobab before. I’ve tried it mixed with other things but I don’t think I’ve ever tried it on its own before.

The packaging looks smart and I like the idea of individual sachets for infrequent use. I’m concerned about the excess packaging for everyday use though.

I occasionally get a meal deal with a smoothie for my lunch and I think adding a sachet to the drink could be an easy win

hermancakedestroyer · 11/06/2026 19:17

Got my box today and first impressions are that I love the colour of the packaging. It looks fresh and appealing. I had not heard of baobab fruit before now. I am starting with mixing today’s into a glass of water. It’s a citrusy taste and probably tastier in a smoothie. I love that the packaging and sachets are recyclable. It feels good to have a fibre boost.

fififrillyfolle · 11/06/2026 20:22

Day 3:
Tbh the product is not fitting well into my routine so far. It doesnt really work with an intermittent fasting plan, as by the time I eat at 1pm I'm not interested in breakfasty stuff like oat bowls and smoothies.
I also don't have time in the middle of the day to be making awkward recipes just to get an extra 3g of fibre in my life. I'd rather just eat some veg!
So it would only really work for me in quick simple drinks.

I've tried it in water so far (underwhelmed) and today tried it in juice, which was ok but required blending to get rid of the slimy/gritty texture. Better than the water mix anyway.

I googled whether I can add it to black coffee and the conclusion is yes... so will try that tomorrow!

Coconutty2 · 11/06/2026 20:52

Firstly, i liked the packaging, small box and slim sachets so handy to take out if i wanted. I liked that it was all natural with no other added ingredients. I love the recipe cards and hope to try these out soon.

Today i decided to try it with some soya blueberry yogurt with a good portion of blueberries. I noticed only a slight subtle change in the flavour which was a good thing as i sometimes find soya yogurt to be less flavoursome than regular yogurts. Will try adding to smoothies and maybe even custard, will report back.

I'm late to the party having had an unplanned couple of nights in the local children's hospital with my son this week, so all I've managed thus far is to just mix it with water and drink it. It's not unpleasant, but not something I would easily add into my daily routine I don't think. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have a bit more brain to try something different.

In terms of first impressions, I like the packaging, I'd heard of baobab but only as a tree not something I'd eat so have never tried it before.

Lemonadefever2000 · 12/06/2026 08:29

Mixed it into a glass of green juice (Mockingbird brand) yesterday and couldn’t really taste it (just very slight texture change). Stirred vigorously rather than shaken and that worked fine. Realistically think I’d be more likely to drink it rather than add to food, but will try adding to breakfast tomorrow.

Scareystress · 12/06/2026 08:36

Day 3
had overnight oats prepared last night using Greek yogurt with the Baobab mixed in before laying, and had chopped apple with dried raisins and cranberries.
As the powder had thickened the yogurt, it did not soak into the oats as much as usual so rather than eat from container, I tipped into a bowl to mix through thoroughly.
I could not taste anything from the powder, but it tasted less sweet as a whole. Added a teaspoonful of sugar free fruit spread (would have used maple syrup if I’d had any).
