Hi UNROOTED testers,

Welcome to your UNROOTED product test feedback thread - we're so excited to have you all here! 🌿✨

Over the next week, you'll be putting UNROOTED's Good Fibre Baobab Sachets to the test. This thread is where we'd love you to share your experiences as you go along.

You'll be trying one high-fibre sachet each day for seven days, incorporating it into your routine in whatever way works best for you. Whether that's blended in a smoothie, stirred into porridge, swirled into yoghurt, mixed into juice, or something else entirely, we'd love to hear how you're getting on.

Getting started

  • Had you heard of baobab before taking part in this test?
  • What were your first impressions when your products arrived?
  • Which recipe or drink are you planning to try first?

Using the sachets

  • What have you been mixing your sachets into?
  • How easy have you found it to incorporate into your daily routine?
  • What do you think of the taste and texture?
  • Have you discovered any favourite ways to enjoy it?

Your experience throughout the week

  • How are you finding the product as you continue testing?
  • Have you tried it in a few different recipes or drinks?
  • Has anything surprised you so far?
  • What are you enjoying most about the product?

Photos are encouraged if you're happy to share them 📸 We'd love to see your smoothies, breakfasts, juices and any other creative ways you're using the sachets.

Please make sure you're updating this thread regularly throughout the testing period - we're keen to hear about your experience as it develops, not just at the end.

UNROOTED's baobab sachets are designed to boost your daily fibre intake - as each sachet is 11% of your RDA of fibre. Fibre is essential for good gut health, so these boosters are super convenient to turning your normal breakfast into a high fibre breakfast. Having too much fibre in one go if you're not used to it can lead to stomach aches and bloating, so incorporating small inclusions of additional fibre more regularly is the key to bringing more fibre into your diet and feeling its benefits! Baobab also benefits from containing both soluble and insoluble fibre, supporting your gut from start to finish.

Thanks again for taking part, and happy testing!

I just started today as was ill and didn’t want to muddle illness symptoms with any effects this may have! Like others I like the packaging: the vibrant, attractive design, and no plastic are all positives. Easy to open both box and sachet, which is important to me as I have arthritis in my hands and opening packaging can be really problematic. The recipe cards are attractive too, and I look forward to trying some of the results!

I have heard of baobab, and whilst on the packaging it talks about supporting local farmers and populations in the areas they are sourcing it from, I know that baobab is a really important crop for health and sustainability in these areas, and would really like reassurance that this is being sustainably produced and doesn’t mean that locals are less able to access this important source of sustenance. I would also like to be sure that in environmental terms this is being sustainably produced.

In terms of the product itself, I was wary as some powders are gritty and unpleasant, or claim a ‘mild’ taste, or indeed to be flavourless, whilst being pretty nasty. I was pleasantly surprised with this though! I mixed it with my morning porridge, which I make without milk so there really is nowhere to hide, and it was actually pleasant! Mild, fruity taste, hint of citrus, nothing I could put my finger on, but perfectly acceptable. Once I had added blueberries it made it just somehow taste more ‘fruity’ than usual. It was actually really nice, which I will admit I didn’t expect! Looking forward to trying this in other things over the week, and to seeing what (if any) effect it has.

Made the Bircher muesli bowl last night, and have topped with almond butter and raspberries. Delicious! The recipe did make a huge amount though so I may be eating for a few days, plus it only used one sachet so obviously the fibre content is diluted.

No photo of the breakfast this morning. I tried the smoothie recipe. I get that the recipes are supposed to be healthy, dairy free and sugar free but when I made it, it was inedibly bitter. Not sure if it was a combo of the ingredients or the lack of sweetener. A good amount of honey rescued it.

Today's pic is of the lining on the inside of the packet. Annoyingly neither the box or the website say if this is the kind of thing that can be composted.

Today I made a banana, peanut butter and milk smoothie and added the baobab after blending. It made the milk noticeably thicker and I had to blend it again to get the lumps out but then fine. I can't honestly say I can particularly taste anything different.

Add it to yoghurt with strawberries this morning and there was no obvious taste difference, just a thicker consistency. Slightly sour after taste.
Still feeling more bloated than usual.

Today (day 3) just ended up adding it to water (stirred) after my pilates session once home. I had intended to make a smoothie but didn't have time. I'm probably in the minority of liking the taste in water (certainly my husband wasn't keen!) but then I'm used to having things like the Symprove (unflavoured) which has that sour, earthy taste. I would much prefer the natural citrus slightly bitter taste than something with added sweetener/other ingredients. And I find the baobab drink is more palatable than water (I'm not great at drinking plain water!!).

Someone else mentioned that opening the sachet can be a little tricky, I have found the same, it tears awkwardly. As I'm at home I just use scissors but might be annoying if somewhere else.

Planning to make the chia pudding tonight ready for the morning.

archaeoptyrx · 12/06/2026 12:05

Another fruit and yoghurt bowl this morning. Mixed it with low fat natural yoghurt and a spoon of pistachio flavoured matcha. It took a lot of stirring in but does mix in thoroughly with time. Like others, I'm finding I need scissors to open it. Still quite surprised by the amount of powder in a serving. If I were to buy this, I think I would probably have half a sachet a day.

I haven’t gone in to much detail yet so here goes… I hadn’t actually heard of baobab before this, so it was a bit of a surprise! When the product arrived, my first impression was that the packaging was really eco-friendly, which I liked and always scores points for me. I’m planning to try it in a simple fruit smoothie next, but I’ve mostly used it in porridge and overnight oats so far. It’s been super easy to incorporate into my routine, just tear open the sachet and mix it in. The flavour is fruity and definitely lifts something plain like porridge. I haven’t experimented wildly yet, but I’m impressed with how easy and pleasant it is.

Today’s lunch, overnight oats with a sachet, with honey and pumpkin seeds.

I am rushing around quite a lot today so I had to be quite basic again. I made a drink with the powder and used a cordial that I really like. This actually worked well. The bitterness of the baobab was taken away. For me the sachets need to be mixed with something that has a stronger flavour.

Tried a sachet just mixed with water today, perfectly palatable, kinda lemon squash vibes

Tried this in my overnight oats today. It was easy to mix into the bowl last night before popping it into the fridge, and I had to remind myself I had put it in there as I couldn't taste it as much as if drunk straight like the previous times, so that was a nice bonus as I would have hated for my lunch to have been bitter!

collywobble · 12/06/2026 19:43

Today I mixed a sachet into my raspberry and yoghurt breakfast bowl and found it blended in really easily with no lumps or gritty texture. It’s become a simple addition to my morning routine and doesn’t alter the flavour too much, which I like.

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed so far is the difference in my overall wellbeing. I’ve been feeling comfortably fuller for longer after breakfast, and I’ve also noticed my digestion and toilet habits seem much more balanced and regular than usual.

Before this product test, I had never heard of baobab, so it’s been interesting learning about it and finding easy ways to include it in everyday meals.

Looking forward to trying a more recipes over the next few days while I have more time and seeing if I continue to notice the same benefits.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 12/06/2026 22:38

I’ve added it to a smoothie bowl with lots of berries which I thought would compliment a citrusy flavour. I couldn’t discern the baobab from amongst the other flavours, so it was an easy addition.

Eurovision · 13/06/2026 07:20

Day 3
Mixed into overnight oats. Worked really well as the citrus was a nice background flavour. Best day so far.

Scareystress · 13/06/2026 07:39

Day 4
shook up with milk before adding to a protein (nut, seed, chocolate variety) granola. Milk went very foamy and more than I would have normally used.
Again, appears to take the sweetness off slightly - do prefer the granola without.

Also finding been slightly constipated - never usually a problem. I have a lot of fibre from fruit etc in my normal diet, and expected more may have had the opposite affect?

MrsMabelThorpe · 13/06/2026 07:51

Good morning from the train to Leeds for the uni open day. Had to leave home at 5.30am so another rushed breakfast on the go. Inspired by a PP, I mixed it into a black coffee at Kings Cross to sip on the train. It's quite comforting to think I am having at least some fibre on what promises to not be the best day, nutrition wise, and easy to do. Again, due to the strong taste of coffee, the baobab is lost. It required a fair but of stirring to get rid of the lumps but they did go.

I'd really be interested if anyone has tried adding to non-breakfast type foods for greater options. If it weren't June I would try it in soup.

A better day tomorrow!

MachineBee · 13/06/2026 08:41

I didn’t have my sachet yesterday as I had rather bad stomach problems. Cramping and diarrhoea. I’m on a very high fibre diet and wonder whether the baobab was just too much.

ThaneOfGlamis · 13/06/2026 17:32

Day 3 yesterday and I blended it with watermelon to make a smoothie. Couldn't taste anything but watermelon. It was more juice than I would normally have in one go, but tasty. Today I thought I should try with water to experience the full taste. It was perfectly palatable, but with a bitter after taste. I have a stoma and normally need chia and/or oats with breakfast to regulate things. I deliberately didn't today and the baobab sorted things out just fine. Useful to know if I ever need breakfast elsewhere.

queenoftheschoolrun · 13/06/2026 17:32

I also had cramping and diarrhoea yesterday evening after several days of bloating. I want to give it a fair shot so will keep trying. I didn't fancy fruit today so just added it to my cereal which wasn't enough to mask the sour flavour.

NormasArse · 13/06/2026 17:44

The box looks smart and unfussy. I’ve found the sachets a bit difficult to tear though.

So far, I’ve just been putting the powder into filtered water in my bottle for work; I really like the fresh taste.

One thing I’ve noticed is that, as an IBS sufferer, I’ve had less bloating and crampiness, and my movements have been much more… satisfying. So much so, that I intend to carry on using it after the trial. I am using it every other day, as I did get slightly bunged up at first.

I’m not really feeling the need to add it to a recipe, but I’ll have a go!

I think I’d heard of boabab fruit before, but I’m not sure in what context- I’d certainly never tried it.

chilledteacher · 13/06/2026 19:13

Did day 2 as the plain water and the sachet. Felt slightly nauseous after-wasn't sure.

Day 3 -I've made the kiwi smoothie from the recipe cards. Tastes lovely but my observation would be that are the recipes encouraging us to have additional fibre to the sachet-in some way defeating the point of the sachet?

Forgot to say-I used almond milk rather than oat as my little boy is coeliac so we don't have oats in the house but it was still lovely

hermancakedestroyer · 13/06/2026 19:18

I added the baobab fibre sachet to muesli today. I have to say I didn’t like the way the baobab affected the milk I added to my muesli. From the reviews I’ve read so far, it seems better to add it to smoothies and yoghurts. I will try this tonorrow.

Decides to try this with a root vegetable soup at lunchtime, and it didn’t really work unfortunately. The flavour seemed much stronger, whereas with something fruity it just sort of blended in. Speaking of blending though, it mixed in really easily, and didn’t negatively affect the texture at all. Will try it in a smoothie tomorrow, I’ve got one out of the freezer ready and will mix it in tomorrow.

Reporting in after 4 days, although only 3 of use. I took yesterday off, partly because I’m not convinced this is agreeing with me (I’ve been quite bloated and gassy) and partly because i didn’t eat until the evening.

Which is kind of my biggest problem: whilst I was ok with the powder in juice on Day 1, that’s not something we usually have in the house, and I don’t ever eat breakfast. I can’t quite work out when in the day to eat it, and with what…I really don’t like it in water (day 2) and as of today can exclusively reveal that it doesn’t work in fruity herbal tea either!

Has anyone had any success mixing the powder with savoury food? I’m wondering if it could be cooked into something like an omelette?
