Tesco F&F are looking for 300 Mumsnetters with a child in primary school aged 5-10 to try out their school uniform range. Each tester will be given a £20 voucher to spend in their local Tesco to buy and test out their school uniform range in the last few weeks of term. Save’s having to do the back to school shop at the end of summer!

Here’s what Tesco F&F has to say: “Tesco uniforms are our best uniforms yet and with features such as reinforced knees on trousers, As-New technology, Teflon coating (eco-friendly) and much more, we’re confident that they will last and last and last.”

Testers will be sent their vouchers w/c 2nd July and will be required to go to a Tesco store that week to buy a new set of school uniform for their DC, including shirts/polo’s, trousers, skirts, shorts, dresses, and jumpers - whatever your child wears to school! We will need testers to try out the new uniform at school w/c 9th and 16th July and to leave their feedback on the uniform on a thread on Mumsnet and by filling out a short survey w/c 23rd July. Please only sign up if you are able to test the uniform in this timeframe.

All testers who complete all forms of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Tesco voucher.

The pe shorts are having the second wash today. They shrunk 1 cm on the first wash.

I couldn't get ANY grey trousers or shorts in size 8-9 in the massive Tesco Extra on the edge of town. When I asked staff if there was any more stock anywhere, I was told no and they aren't expecting any in until their uniform launch around the 22nd July. So ended up getting a pack of polo shirts and some free groceries.

Ah! So the new uniform is being launched 22nd July? That makes sense because I asked instore and they said they weren’t getting more stock in.

So we are reviewing before the product launches? So reviewing the old ends of stock?

I have also failed to get much, went to the nearest Extra and managed to get one grey pinafore in DD's size and that is it.

I'm another who received the voucher, went to local store where there was nothing, so on to a bigger store which also had very little stock. No summer dresses or cardigans in the colour we need (The colour the majority of local schools wear) so ended up with a pinafore dress in a size up as nothing in the size she needs now, some polo shirts and a skirt. Washed the polo shirts and had the same issue with shrinking and they just don't feel nice. Skirt seems ok but very different in sizing to our usual asda/m&s. Not that impressed!

So far DD (9) has used the playsuit and the skirt. Playsuit is size 7-8 and it fits her nicely, and she loves it. I haven’t washed it yet and I am praying that it washes well. The skirt, on the other hand, is size 8-9 and is massive. I had to tighten the waistband as far as it went and it looks a bit silly on the back to be honest. I’ll get her to wear the pinafore tomorrow (I think it’s also a 8-9) so I can wash at the weekend and report back.

Does anyone know if there is a size chart online?

Why on earth are they getting us to test the dregs of last years stock....

The bits we got did say something like new & improved so I think it probably depends on store stock if you get what you need in the new or old range

Not being able to order online is a huge oversight in my opinion, even if it was click & collect and just for the back to school time of year

This was my selection in my local Tesco. Big 24hr superstore. One whole row of boys trousers, one of shirts and polo tops (of which non were needed) and one side of pinafores, skirts and a few pitiful blue summer dresses (not dds school colour)

I ended up spending half the voucher amount on tights that will last until the new term. Got a pinafore that wouldn’t have been my first choice and in a size too big and a skirt. Really not impressed at all. What’s the point?

Tbh kraggle your store had more than mine!

Think its quite telling the fact i have 3 different size school children and really struggled

And o thought I was hard done by IVegot! I thought ours was pitiful so dread to think what yours was like!

I wish i had taken photos now! Especially the polos with YELLOW collars. If i go back in tesco i may do this

I went to Tesco on Monday. I brought a 2pack of polo shirts. I got 2summer dresses and socks. They didn’t have much stock of my Daughters size. My Daughter wore the dress and socks today so let’s see how well wear and tear goes.

This was the choice in the massive Tesco Extra about 10 minutes drive from my house.

Our school colour is green summer dresses or grey pinafores/ skirts or trousers.

It was a really frustrating shop.

I wish someone would come and explain the crapness!

It seems a very odd product test. Is the test to find the product?

I reckon somewhere along the line someone has ballsed up!

We went to a large Tesco Extra and like others found very limited choice. I did manage to buy a skirt and some polo shirts but there were no tunics or dresses in her size.

She has worn the skirt this week and the hem has frayed.

The dresses were no where near as nice as the Sainsburys one in style so I probably wouldn't have brought one even if they did have it in her size!

I wonder if Tesco would send us all one item of clothing in the right size from the new stock.

I drove 20 minutes to Tesco Extra as my local Tesco had very limited stock.

Found the right size trousers for my child's height but they had the same inside leg length as the size smaller from M&S that have just been outgrown, and were a couple of inches bigger on the waist. There is no point in me driving back to exchange them as the next size up will not fit on the waist. He is average for his age and doesn't normally need slim fit or longer length at M&S or similar so I don't know what is going on with the Tesco sizing!

The stitching is coming undone on one pair of pe shorts here. They have been worn twice.

I spoke to both my Tesco Extras and they aren’t expecting full stock of uniform till the end of next week when the sale stock has gone. Very limited choice but I did my best.
