NOW CLOSED

Tesco F&F are looking for 300 Mumsnetters with a child in primary school aged 5-10 to try out their school uniform range. Each tester will be given a £20 voucher to spend in their local Tesco to buy and test out their school uniform range in the last few weeks of term. Save’s having to do the back to school shop at the end of summer!

Here’s what Tesco F&F has to say: “Tesco uniforms are our best uniforms yet and with features such as reinforced knees on trousers, As-New technology, Teflon coating (eco-friendly) and much more, we’re confident that they will last and last and last.”

Testers will be sent their vouchers w/c 2nd July and will be required to go to a Tesco store that week to buy a new set of school uniform for their DC, including shirts/polo’s, trousers, skirts, shorts, dresses, and jumpers - whatever your child wears to school! We will need testers to try out the new uniform at school w/c 9th and 16th July and to leave their feedback on the uniform on a thread on Mumsnet and by filling out a short survey w/c 23rd July. Please only sign up if you are able to test the uniform in this timeframe.

All testers who complete all forms of feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Tesco voucher.

If you’re interested, and would like to take part, please sign up here.

We will be in touch with selected testers soon.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Received my voucher today but no email from Mumsnet saying I'd be partaking Grin

NauticalDisaster · 06/07/2018 11:00

Nothing yet but I’ll keep an eye out. Thank you, @JustineBMumsnet

BlancheM · 06/07/2018 11:03

I've received my voucher, it's a generic gift voucher though? Just in time for the weekly shop tomorrow. Looking forward to trying out the uniform items as DD has had a growth spurt overnight.

WomanScorned · 06/07/2018 11:47

My voucher arrived today.

However, my local 'superstore' doesn't stock uniform.

I just spoke to someone at Tesco Direct who told me that as it is popular, uniform will be available via the online grocery page. However, it has not yet been transferred, so isn't yet available. They suggest trying to order on Monday, which will be too late as the testing is to be from then.

My local store is not listed as a click and collect point; the nearest one is 14 miles away, in a larger store that stocks uniform, anyway.
The bus costs £9 and takes 3 hours.

Delivery slots vary, but are around £6-7.

His other suggestion was to clear my Internet search history and see if a closer collection point comes up. It didn't when he tried it.

My postman just walked straight passed my house!

Womanscorned

This is my predicament as well. Local stores are all express stores, but there are two other superstores in the next towns. Both don’t sell clothing, so my nearest clothing one is two towns away. Not sure of mileage. But I’ll attempt at the weekend. I think this is the stumbling block on Tesco uniform. Taking it offline seems so odd if they don’t stock it in all decent sized stores.

Sairelou · 06/07/2018 12:55

Got my voucher just now Smile

mrsoutnumbered · 06/07/2018 13:28

I got mine today too Smile

stresshead84 · 06/07/2018 16:17

Received my voucher today. Will be making a trip to Tesco over the weekend. Our nearest stocks a fair amount of uniform Smile.

NauticalDisaster · 06/07/2018 23:22

Hmm, I’ve checked out the stock at one superstore so far and the selection is dismal. No shorts, no trousers in correct size/colour combo.

The staff weren’t very interested in answering if I could order what I wanted in store...

I have another superstore I can check out tomorrow... otherwise I’ll be testing polo shirts and football shorts 😆

torthecatlady · 06/07/2018 23:31

My voucher arrived today!

mrsoutnumbered · 07/07/2018 08:56

Well I'm in my Tesco and the choice is extremely limited, they have nothing in the right sizes and don't have my daughters colours. Can't even find any shoes.

Not sure what to do now?!

mrsoutnumbered · 07/07/2018 09:05

Ooh! Found the shoes. At least I can get something!

Sairelou · 07/07/2018 09:09

Limited supply in my store too. Seems like Tesco need to sort it out, or they aren't going to get any reviews!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 07/07/2018 09:39

My voucher is here, many thanks Smile. Our (walking distance) normal-sized Tesco tends not to have much, but there's an Extra a couple of junctions down that I can try if there's no joy in the regular one.

mrsoutnumbered · 07/07/2018 10:03

@Sairelou wouldn't have been a problem if I could order online and collect from my local express.

I went to an Extra store and there was hardly anything, I guess most people don't shop for uniform at this time of year.

WindyWednesday · 07/07/2018 10:49

It’s not school uniform time yet. I’d imagine they fill the space this time of year with BBQ and gardening stuff, then mid August fill it with uniform. I’m yet to find a store with any uniform.

Scoleah · 07/07/2018 11:12

Mine arrived today! Thank you..
Had a Look last night and Hardly nothing in Both of My Superstores?
What if we can't get anything?

mrsoutnumbered · 07/07/2018 11:33

Good luck!

My store had polo shirts but both my kids have to wear embroidered shirts. Lots of summer dresses but not in purple which is my daughters colour! But at least I have some shoes and plimsolls to try. Otherwise I'm not sure what I would've done! The gin did look tempting 😂

SeraphinaDombegh · 07/07/2018 14:17

I got my voucher yesterday so went to my nearest superstore. School clothing range a bit lacking, if I'm honest. White shirts and polo shirts only, which is a shame as we really needed blue. No pumps, PE kit... also items that DS would get a lot of use from at this time of year! No jumpers, which we could do with replacing. Had to settle for white polo shirts, shorts and trousers - all good but I already have plenty of those, so feels a bit pointless. Anyway, will ensure everything gets worn at least once in the next two weeks if possible.

OfIceAndFire · 07/07/2018 15:10

Same problem as others, went to local store, no blue jumpers, summer dresses in red were only size 10-11 (I need 7-8), no yellow polo tops, no shorts/skirts in my kids size.

Really struggled to find anything. The leaflet that came with the voucher talked about a new improved uniform compared to the last years, but all the stores only have the old uniform in stock.

Seems a bit of a wasted test really

PickledWilly · 07/07/2018 15:36

We were super excited to get picked however our nearest biggest Tesco had a very poor selection of uniform. In the end we got two packs of polo shirts, a grey dress, socks and cycling shorts - that was literally all they had in my dd's size! Will test over the next 2 weeks and report back

IVEgotthePOWER · 07/07/2018 16:30

My voucher turned up today. I cant get to tesco until monday so will post how i get on then.

Question -

I signed up to do the trial with ds1 aged 10. If i cant get stuff to fit him can i do it for another school aged dc? Also have 9 year old ds and 5 year old dd

rupert23 · 07/07/2018 17:08

Went to my local tesco today there was some uniform in my son's size so managed to get some trousers and short sleeve shirts.

AWhistlingWoman · 07/07/2018 19:08

I panicked when I read this thread and thought perhaps there wouldn't be that much to buy. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to our local Tesco. I think that the new lines of school uniform were in store and I purchased the following (sadly not all with the £20 voucher I was lucky enough to receive!)

DS Yr 2 - purchased a two pack of white shirts and two packs of trousers. Was pleased to see that these have reinforced knees (he often goes through trousers at the knees and I am not good at repairs!) and were slim fit as he is tall but very slim.

DD2 Yr R - purchased a skirt, plimsolls, school shoes and tights. She is under strict instructions not to go up a shoe size over the summer! She adores the shoes, they are patent with unicorn embroidery, a pink unicorn on the soles and lights in the heels. She is testing them now as she won't take them off!

I am really keen to see how the shoes hold up - my friend warned me 'buy Clarks or buy twice' but the initial outlay is quite expensive with 3 DC so I'm always looking for an alternative.

I also picked up socks and sun hats!

Reading IVEgotthePOWER's comment above I realise I can't remember which DC I signed up to do the trial with. I just bought what I needed in the sizes that were available. Hope that's ok? I'm pretty sure it must have been DS or DD2 so I probably spent enough on both to cover either of them.
