This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have been testing monthly subscription boxes Pink Parcel and/or bettybox with their daughters.

Here’s what Pink Parcel and bettybox have to say:

Pink Parcel: “Pink Parcel is the UK’s No1 period subscription box that unites periods and pampering to make your time of the month fuss-free and fabulous. Delivered to your door monthly on a day of your choosing each box contains over £40 of tampons, pads and beauty products including a mix of cult beauty brands, herbal teas and artisan chocolates. You can select your choice of tampons, pads or a mix of both from all your trusted brands. This convenient box ensures you’ll never run out of products again.”

bettybox: “bettybox is the perfect pick me up for girls. As well as all their trusted tampons and/or pads, they can expect sweet treats, make-up, stationery and more all from brands specially selected for teens. Choose from your favourite tampon and pad brands and receive your monthly box with treats worth up to £30 delivered for free directly to your door. You’ll never have to worry about running out of pads again!”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, as well as completing the survey we’ll be sending you via email shortly.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
  2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
  3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
  4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
  5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a ÂŁ300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

This is my feedback for Pink Parcel, as I only recently received it. Bettybox feedback already left upthread.

1.What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Great idea in theory but a bit of a car crash in practice.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
It would be, if it sent the right things, to the right person, at the right time.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? The unnecessary and confusing repackaging.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
No
5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
I got the distinct impression that the box was packed by a man, or someone who'd never had a period. Just one size of tampon, not enough and no absorbency information. Ditto pads, which I'd said I didn't use anyway.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Great idea

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

The products were all really high quality, however I don't think I'd subscribe as it feels quite expensive for 'pot luck'

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I'd swap out the tea bags for chocolate!!!

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes I would, DD was really happy with hers and the extras were good quality.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

There were plenty of each product supplied

This review has taken me an age to write because I unfortunately fall into the 6% whose letterbox is too small for these boxes. This is a major con for me as I’m a singles mother of I working full time and rarely have chance to get to the post office depot.
I was excited when I finally picked up my box – it smelt lovely and felt like a treat. However, I was hugely disappointed by the chocolates as I was expecting something a bit more “comforting” and don’t like coconut anyway! I liked the little bag with the tampons in and am currently using it in my handbag as it’s great for keeping tampons and pads from getting wrecked by all the junk in my bag. I’ve used the lipstick stick, although it’s not really an everyday sort of colour, so not sure how much use I’ll get out of it. The other samples were nice but don’t think it would tempt me to buy the full product.
My daughter's box has only just arrived, what with the address mix up and me being unable to pick up. I like the contrast in box design, it hits it’s target audience. My daughter loved the samples, being a 16 year old, she can’t get enough beauty products! Although she passed the lipstick onto me as she wasn’t keen on the colour. She too is using the little bag. She liked the info booklet too and said it was useful. However, I must say, I'm not massively keen on the revision advice!
All in all, it was a nice treat but not something I would subscribe to, mainly because it can’t be posted through my door. But also, we would end up with a lot of little fabric bags knocking about!

Apologies – forgot to fill in the questionnaire! ....

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I like the concept... it would be better if they could actually be posted through my letterbox!

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
It’s on the pricey side for my tastes / pocket unfortunately.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
More (proper) chocolate!
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Depends on the individual, I don’t know many people who subscribe to things like this. It would also depend on their financial situation.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
I would have liked more of a choice as I use a range from super-duper extra to regular, depending on the day!

Apologies for delay, had one hell of a month with DS being diagnosed with autism so I've been a little all over the place.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I think it is a nice idea, although having exactly the same type of tampon for throughout my flow was a little conterintuitive. I thought the design of the BettyBoxes was brilliant - fun, vibrant colours - whereas the Pink Parcel was a bit dull in terms of design. The fabric bag to hold tampons just in case is a nice idea but was poorly designed as they fell out. I loved the facial oil and wore the lipstick on a night out, I thought they were really good additions.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
I think it is a pound or two too expensive, I would consider subscribing for my teenager because she loved it so much if it was a tenner a month but it is just a little too much to justify at the moment.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Have a range of tampon absorbancies in each box
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
I would recommend it to mothers of girls who have just started their periods or who are a bit embarrassed about it. My teenager refuses to talk to me about her 'monthlies', she absolutely loved her box and has already got me to order the face cream from nip and fab she got! Having a few little extras and pamper treats is really nice, and they were all welcome.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Too many tampons, not enough pads.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Great idea and was nice to have a variety of products to use.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
I liked everything in the box, however I dont feel it is great value for money though.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I would label the individual towels/tampons as I can’t remember which I chose for myself and DD and it’s hard to tell from looking at the packet which are normal/heavy flow etc.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes I would, DD was super excited to receive hers and the extras were good quality. She thought it was a nice treat.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I did have enough tampons . DD didnt have enough pads though.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I liked it, but probably need more personalisation of products

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes definitely, I loved the treats.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I'd include biodegradable bags to put used products in and fresh wipes. And hand wipes. Too.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Definitely

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Too many pads, not quite enough tampons and I loved the little liners

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Great to have some on standby - have to get the timing right
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Yes with the extra nonsanitary products
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
To be able to pick and choose the treats
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Just enough
Smellylittleorange · 12/05/2018 22:40

To add I really like the femnist vibe and values that came through with the teen box - it made the adult one seem boring in comparison!

AConvivialHost · 13/05/2018 12:42

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Bit of a waste of time - just order them through online delivery via one of the big supermarkets instead. Likewise for treats, if you have the disposable income to be able to afford Pink Parcel/bettybox, you'd be better off selecting your own treats, rather than paying for things that may not be to your liking.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not for me, as they didn't fit through the letterbox, so I had to pay to park in town to collect them from the sorting office

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The size - they need to fit through letterboxes; and better labelling of the actual pad size/absorbency, as my DD was confused as to whether things were liners or towels

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
No - I didn't think they were value for money, and it didn't really provide a service that I couldn't organise myself

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
The product mix was fine and I had a little of each left.

The Pink Parcel/bettybox aren't for me or my DD, but thanks for the opportunity to product test them.
