This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have been testing monthly subscription boxes Pink Parcel and/or bettybox with their daughters.

Here’s what Pink Parcel and bettybox have to say:

Pink Parcel: “Pink Parcel is the UK’s No1 period subscription box that unites periods and pampering to make your time of the month fuss-free and fabulous. Delivered to your door monthly on a day of your choosing each box contains over £40 of tampons, pads and beauty products including a mix of cult beauty brands, herbal teas and artisan chocolates. You can select your choice of tampons, pads or a mix of both from all your trusted brands. This convenient box ensures you’ll never run out of products again.”

bettybox: “bettybox is the perfect pick me up for girls. As well as all their trusted tampons and/or pads, they can expect sweet treats, make-up, stationery and more all from brands specially selected for teens. Choose from your favourite tampon and pad brands and receive your monthly box with treats worth up to £30 delivered for free directly to your door. You’ll never have to worry about running out of pads again!”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, as well as completing the survey we’ll be sending you via email shortly.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
  2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
  3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
  4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
  5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

In theory this was great and I thought it would be a definite plus. In practice though none of the three boxes (original and replacement) were put through our regularly sized letter box. As I am out at work during the day this would stop me subscribing. I couldn’t expect my neighbours to take them in for us every month,

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes, I did think it was good value, we would spend more than this on extras if just popping to the shop for tampons.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I would change he size so they could be put through the letterbox. I would also change the snacks and drinks for something less healthy. At that time of the month I would much prefer a bar of chocolate.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Probably not. I was put off by the mix up over names etc with the Bettybox, and it was less convenient than I had hoped. I was very impressed with the age sized pads that arrived with my daughters first box though as I haven’t seen them before. No good for the person they were intended for but I will keep ready for my younger DD. I will keep it in mind for when she starts her periods and might recommend to her friends mums.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

For me there were more pads than needed- I still have plenty left. For my DD we received pads in the first box and she only uses tampons so she didn’t get to try them and we can’t comment. Just received the new Bettybox with tampons but they will have to wait until next month.

Ilikesweetpeas · 29/03/2018 22:26

I had given feedback for me- this is for DD who got her box today

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
She loved getting a parcel through the post!

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
For her yes, she was really pleased with her treats
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Would have liked less healthy snacks to be honest, dried coconut and a coconut tea bag did not appeal to DD. A bar of chocolate and a sachet of hot chocolate would have done!
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
For someone with a tween/ teen yes I would
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
About right for DD

She liked the age sized samples, this is something I would order for her.
The size of the boxes needs sorting - again this one was all battered and didn't fit though the letter box.

She enjoyed testing this and I would consider subscribing for her.

BlueMosaic · 29/03/2018 22:48

I left feedback on the other thread, but have seen you have specific questions, so here goes....

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Nice idea in theory, but neither mine nor DD's periods are on regular on a 4 weekly basis, which means the boxes would come at random times for us!

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I'd say they were priced about right. Certainly they shouldn't cost anymore. The ability to select some things and have surprises for others might add a feeling of value.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

Remove sexist colour schemes and cutie-ness. Put some feminist info/badges stuff in there. Set of screwdrivers, that kind of thing!

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Possibly. Most of my circle would find the curent versions a little twee. More likely to recommend for early teens just starting their periods.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

For me, slightly too many tampons. Quantity about right for DD.

Overall, nice idea. Doesn't quite work for me. Best aimed at 11-14 yeare olds I reckon.

Thanks for the chance to test them 😀

Angelfaced · 29/03/2018 23:25
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Personally i loved it as a busy mum with 2 kids I rarely have time to buy things for myself and I've been caught short a few times when my periods arrived so found it helpful to get them sent out for my daughter and I. Also loved the option the boxes were personalised so we could pick which brand and flow. Fab idea! Can't believe I didn't know about this until this product test 😊
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
I thought they were both fab value for money but more so the pink parcel although my daughter liked her betty box too and after reading about them they both have different amounts of contents in them; think the pink parcel contained £10 more products if I'm right? Thought all the products were lovely quality and a nice selection of different items suiting both age groups
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The one thing i would change is maybe have less packaging if possible and add chocolate. Saying that my daughter and I loved out boxes and all of the products in them. Yeah just add pure chocolate 😋😋
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes, infact I already have told the mum's at baby group and another online mums group im part of and they all loved the idea and had never heard of these before like myself.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
My daughter and I asked for pads each as we prefer them to tampons and both boxes had plenty in which was great as my daughter has quite heavy periods so a very good amount maybe a few extra than needs but better to have than to be caught short. Costs me quite a bit for both of us each month on pads so wouldn't mind paying the extra for the pink parcel myself as the products were lovely. My daughter really loved the bettybox and the products too so I will have to sign up to this now for her. She loved having something addressed to her and was super excited when she opened it so that was nice to see.

Just want to thank you for letting is test these products for free it was really generous and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

New Pink Parcel and Bettybox fans 😍

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I don’t find it a chore just slinging some pads in with my online shopping, so I guess it feels slightly unnecessary as a means to getting sanitary protection. However it was fun to have a surprise box of treats through the post.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

At £12.99 I didn’t think it was too bad actually. Obviously it’s an expensive way of buying pads or tampons but if someone was looking for an alternative to a beauty box I reckon this could fit the bill.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I would like the idea of being able to opt in or out of certain products. The Pink Parcel only worked for me because I offloaded the make up items on dd. I liked the skincare but would tire of too much make up. The tea flavours were too off-the-wall to appeal to us.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Possibly, as an alternative to a beauty box, if they were into that sort of thing. However, I would also have to mention how ludicrous I found it that they saw fit to have a trans man fronting one of their marketing campaigns. I can’t work out what their agenda is, other than to try and connect with the “woke” youth. Kenny took hormones and stopped having periods seven years ago. What does he possibly have to say to me, a middle-aged mum (who, incidentally would be the decision maker/purchaser in respect of dd’s BettyBox)? Is it some weird virtue signalling?

This cynical marketing, along with the blatant lie that the boxes will fit through 94% of letterboxes and the name debacle (which didn’t bother us but has upset quite a few fellow mumsnetters), makes me slightly distrust them as a company.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

A good amount for me. I had pads only and liked being able to select unscented ones. Night time pads were great but I chucked the liners in the bin as they were too small to be any use.

Thanks for the opportunity to test the boxes. Dd especially liked getting her 2 boxes. She would be more than happy to receive a monthly subscription if I was paying! I won’t be for reasons mentioned above.

SiliconeHeaven · 30/03/2018 07:41
  1. Receiving pads and tampons through the door should be more convenient but, as other posters have said it didn’t fit through the letterbox and one box was given to a neighbour and the other sent the the sorting office 10 miles away.
  2. I’m not sure of the price of the box and generally spend about £5 a month. I would imagine that the boxes are £10 - £15 So I think I would soon get fed up of sample sizes of things and just get the products when I’m at the supermarket.
  3. I would make the flipping box smaller so the convenience of haveing the products delivered doesnt involve a 20 mile round trip.
  4. I would possibly recommend if it could be a one off box, maybe if a friend was feeling a bit down or for my daughters when they first started.
  5. There was a very strange mix of pads and tampons in both boxes. Big night flow pads and then teeny tiny panty liners in both boxes. I certainly wouldn’t use all of the products.
nooilpainting · 30/03/2018 08:39
  1. I like the idea of receiving pads/tampons through the door, but as the box didn’t fit through the letter box and had to be collected from the post office, it defeats the purpose.
  2. Although it’s a lovely idea, realistically, I don’t really think I could justify the expense of buying the boxes. My daughter loved some of her treats, I was less impressed with mine.
  3. The boxes would be less bulky and fit through letter boxes. I would really rather have real chocolate than a more healthy treat.
  4. I wouldn’t be happy recommending Betty box to anyone. My daughter received 3 boxes, the first 2 of which were wrongly named. Not a company I would be giving my bank details to, or suggesting anyone else should.
  5. Both boxes contained a good amount and variety of pads.
Nousernameforme · 30/03/2018 12:50
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
It's fine we keep a stash in anyway so it's no bother really. The boxes however didn't fit through the letterbox so having to be in or facing a long round trip to collect them means its not as convenient as advertised.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
For san pro I probably pay about a tenner a month. This would cost us nearly £30 for the addition of some random beauty products. So probably not.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The things you get in them. Not every woman likes makeup/skin care and you can't tailor them to suit your skin type and colouring (I fail to see how the colour of the lipstick in the betty box could suit anyone) the way you can with a birch box. I would focus on other things maybe more period centered. Nice pants mini hot water bottle or one of those handwarmer things for the pains. More food nicer tea.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? No I don't think I would sorry.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
There wasn't enough san pro for a full period so no and this was the big problem for me I could see myself ordering this for DD as a treat as she always suffers through hers and thought it would be a pick me up. However there is no point when I have to go and top up the san pro as well as fork out for this.

As has been said our betty box also went awol and I wouldn't be happy giving more of our details to a company that messed up names and addresses.

HermanCakeDestroyer · 30/03/2018 14:05
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I think it's discreet and a pleasure to receive.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
I think they are both good value for money. They contain nice gifts along with the practical pads and tampons.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
We wouldn't change either of them. I particularly liked the facial oil in the PP and my daughter particularly enjoyed trying out new face creams and lipsticks.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes, and have already. We love the idea of this subscription because it means you always have period supplies in stock for when you need them and don't really have to think about them.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
The PP and BB had probably a few more pads than were needed but its always good to have them available when you need them.
Toyboysrus · 30/03/2018 17:38

1 I usually stock up on pads for me and dd when on offer in supermarket so we wouldn't need a delivery every month.
2 Not really good value as neither of us would use many of the products. I will be re-gifting though!
3 I agree about the too large boxes but I must have a more determined postie than the rest of you! The boxes had been rammed through the letter box and the outer packaging was ripped and squashed.
4 I wouldn't rec to a friend in case they wouldn't use the products and wasted money on my say so.
5 We only requested towels. More than enough were supplied dd and I would use half that amount in a month.

fuzzywuzzy · 30/03/2018 17:56

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I think the concept is actually quite useful, there are three of us who have periods and the DD’s always tell me their preferred brands have run out after they’ve used up the last one. The pink parcel would act as a fun top up and reminder to top up.
2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Whilst the parcel is fun, (it’s nice to get a parcel and the extras were really lovely), I think it’s too expensive to use as a monthly subscription.
3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Definitely need more pads, one box would not see me thro one period nor for either of my DD’s.
4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes, as I think it’s a fun treat, would definitely get a pink parcel as a gift for dd’s but not as a monthly sub but every two/three months as a treat and to help as a top up before the big shop to top up sanpro.
5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Too few, also I think women’s cycles tend to be peculiar to them, I didn’t have enough heavy pads, and far too many liners.
In the pink parcel the pads were smaller sized ones, and dd has pretty heavy periods and uses extra long heavy flow pads, of which there were none.

It was lovely to get the extra treats in the box and it was one thing less to remember getting the parcels in the first place.
I would subscribe for my dd’s maybe for every three months as a fun parcel. It’s too expensive to actually subscribe for monthly boxes especially as there’s not enough pads for a month.

aristocat · 30/03/2018 18:22
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
DD There is always a supply of towels in our bathroom provided by mom so I've never actually bought any on my own yet. I like the idea of them being delivered. Me I like the delivery of these boxes but it is essential that they fit through my letterbox. Both boxes arrived very damaged and squashed which was disappointing.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
DD Yes, I like the beauty treats. Me I must say I was impressed with these boxes. I loved the skincare/beauty products and the element of surprise but I'd also like the choice of what is sent to me.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
DD I didn't like the colour of my BettyBox lipstick but loved the packaging & design. And I'd prefer a sachet of hot chocolate instead of the teabags. Me I'd like to change several things - a) box needs to fit through the letterbox b) too much unnecessary cardboard c) send chocolate as the treat instead of the cardboard coconut
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
DD Maybe, I'm not sure. Me Yes. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these boxes. I will definitely subscribe to a box for my DD.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
DD Yes. I had just enough pads. I didn't request any tampons as I don't use them. Me I only asked for towels and I received 16. This would not last me one monthSad DD received 20 in her box ....... it's pointless subscribing to this and needing to purchase extra! Reading other reviews most are happy with the quantity provided so perhaps there was an error with my box.

Thanks again for choosing myself and DD for this. Despite the problems (name confusion/ missing items/ too big for letterbox) I love the concept and we have loved taking part.

Thank You.

Pinkiepromisex · 30/03/2018 22:08

1.What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Ok idea. Dd liked the idea more than me but then she wouldn’t be the one paying!

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Comparable to make up subscription boxes. The price is what I would expect.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Would be more likely to subscribe for dd than for myself and thought the bettybox content was better anyway. Would like to see less packaging and the problem with it not going through the letterbox would put me off.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
No because of the postage problem it is not something I would feel happy to recommend.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Would feel a need to have back up just in case but then I don’t like to run out of anything!
Figroller · 30/03/2018 23:51
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It was nice, daughter and I both liked the little drawstring bags that came with the pads and tampons. Having said that though I don't have a problem getting these items from the shop.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes because we liked the extra beauty products. I don't spend much on pads and tampons for us both each month but it was a really nice treat and exciting to see what was in the box.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

It would be much more convenient if they actually did fit through the letter box and more interesting snacks. We both would have appreciated a bit of chocolate.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I would as a special treat.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad

There were plenty in box boxes, in fact we both have leftovers. The mix was fine also and it was nice we could choose our products.

Ladylucky99 · 31/03/2018 09:23
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I think it’s a great idea. That time when you feel a little irritable and generally rubbish. To have this turn up definitely restores that bad mood. Saves having to remember to get them from the shops too. Some extra little privacy is nice too.
Nobody should feel embarrassed to buy them but I often have to send my husband out to get shopping and he isn’t the best at following instructions. Last time he bought us the wrong pads, we ended up with pads for a weak bladder. They didn’t get wasted as I do also have that issue but I had to go back out for my usual pads. So this monthly box would help with those sorts of issues. :-)

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? Yes is do. With the premium products in there then you are definitely getting your monies worth and the enjoyment and surprise adds to that too in what you are getting.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? Less packaging in the boxes I think. Apart from that nothing. I thought the contents were excellent.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? Yes definitely, a lovely surprise
Each month
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products? Not enough but that’s not an issue as I suffer with heavy periods but otherwise I would say there is enough for a normal period (my periods used to be better and less flow)

Thanks for this opportunity. It was a huge enjoyment for us both to receive these boxes. I understand mistakes can be made and on this occasion I am not worried about a name being mixed up but possibly something on your website to ensure privacy etc would be nice.

Ietthemeatcake · 31/03/2018 15:56
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Would be very convenient - BUT it didn't fit through our letterbox.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Yes, having got birchbox/glossy box before, my daughter felt it was good value for a similar price. I thought the mix of products was good, particularly in the Betty Box. My DD was impressed with the skincare that was aimed at her age range and the truffles. I liked the facial oil, but not so impressed with the coconut snack, the lip plump made my lips sting and the lipstick was not a colour I would wear. Overall I thought the standard of the treats was better than I expected and in line with a Glossy Box, with the addition of the sanpro. There was a lot of packaging but having the different boxes made it nice to open.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
It needs to fit through the letterbox. It's not convenient if you have to get it from the post office.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
The betty box, yes. My dd felt the mix of products was really good for her age (14) and enjoyed that it wasn't just beauty or skincare, but also included information, snacks and stationery. She preferred it to her recent birchbox.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
I ordered a mix for my daughter, but there was no option for lite tampons only regular in the mix, only if you ordered tampons on their own. There seemed to be more choice if you ordered just tampon or just pads. She received an appropriate amount. I ordered non-applicator tampons, and also received night towels which I don't use. If I'm not using a tampon overnight I only use a liner, so these are wasted on me. The amount of tampons was fine.
MumInTheCity · 31/03/2018 16:54

1.What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

As others have pointed out, neither of the boxes fit through my letterbox so I had to go and collect them from the sorting office. Would've been quicker and easier to just go to the shop and buy them.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not particularly, if it did fit through the door then it might be worth the money for the convenience, but as it stands, no, it's easier to just buy what I want at the shops.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

They would actually fit through the letterbox. And that they would be sent on time to the correct person.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

No, not after the shambles they made of this product test.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

It was about right for me, far too many for DD as she has only just started her periods and they are very light but that was fine, they'll still get used eventually!

Unfortunately the numerous issues that arose from this product test, what with them using the wrong information, sending boxes to the wrong people, taking ages to redeliver and them not fitting through the letterbox means that I wouldn't want to use them again, which is a bit of a shame as DD really liked her box and I probably would've ordered again for her if not for the above.

MumInTheCity · 31/03/2018 17:01

Oh and those tiny coconut crisp things were horrid and not a treat at all! They reminded me of holy communion Grin.

AureliaDeLuca · 31/03/2018 17:42
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
As so many others have said, they didn't fit through the door and had to go to the sorting office to collect. Also had the BettyBox mix-up...received one addressed to a different person (wrong name but our address) and then it had an item missing.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not really. The products are nice but I would not be impressed that one was missing from DD's BettyBox if I had paid for it.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Make them small enough to fit through letterboxes.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
No...mainly because of the complete mix up with the Betty Boxes and missing item. Poor customer service.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Not quite enough for heavy periods so would still have to buy more in the supermarket.
mouseymummy · 31/03/2018 18:24
  1. I think it's a great idea, I feel there needs to be more heavy pads as if need to top those up and to topup and get a sub box is a little much. My daughter had some remaining after with hers.
  1. Possibly good value if you use the higher end brands but for those who use supermarket own brands, it's a lot for a few treats.
  1. The fact they don't fit through the letter box!!! Luckily my postieleft mine with my neighbour but it nearly ended up in the sorting office which is a trek to get to!!
  1. My daughter says she would. She says it's a great idea for her. N tbh, I probably would continue getting hers. For me, no.
  1. For me there wasn't enough. I needed more heavy pads.

For my daughter, she had some remaining

Ollivander84 · 31/03/2018 23:33

Thought I would post as I've been getting them for a while now!
Usually the treat bit is not coconut Wink more like chocolate or marshmallows
I get it as a beauty box and also because they have the tampons I like that I can't find anywhere else
I've never had any issues with anything broken or missing but their customer service is genuinely usually really good, I won a competition of theirs on FB and the prize arrived within a few days

starlingsintheslipstream · 31/03/2018 23:49

Dd liked the chocolate in her first tester Betty Box but the second one had these coconut chocolate shavings that she gave to me because I love coconut. Sadly they looked like nail clippings and didn't taste great either

Product feedback for April 2018 Betty Box. (We didn't receive the original Betty Box, or any Pink Parcel)

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Directly TO your door and not directly THROUGH your door is an issue myself and other testers have with this service.
It could be improved with courier tracking or a slightly smaller box in order to fit through the letterbox.
My post office depot is miles away and as a non driver I wouldn't be happy spending ££'s on bus fares each month just to collect it. The alternative would be a re-delivery which would mean organising my week around sanitary products being delivered. It's marketed as being convenient. It just seems too much bother.

Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes and no. I'm indecisive on this.

The contents included:

  • Coconut snack bites (daughter not a fan of coconut)

  • Coconut based drink (as above)

  • Blackhead popper wand (she has good, clear skin, so doesn't really need this)

  • Bright fuchsia lipstick (not really her colour, she'd never wear this. I honestly haven't seen this shade lipstick worn by anyone since my mum was teaming it up with electric blue eyeshadow in the 80s!)

  • Springy hair bobbles (she has loads already, but they will be used as she likes this style)

  • 2 pens (as above)

The storage pouch was actually the item she loved the most.

Based on this, the April Betty Box was terrible value for her. £12.99 for pads, bobbles and 2 pens.
We did some research and watched previous Betty Box unboxings on YouTube and were really impressed with the contents making her feel a bit let down with this box.
So if we were using Betty Box in the future it would be for one off boxes where the contents really appealed to her, but due to the random items I'd be wary of buying an ongoing subscription.

What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

The ability to opt in/out of certain products in order to personalise the box to suit the customer. A setting to select which shades you'd prefer or an 'about me' section in your account settings with options such as 'always' send nail polish, 'sometimes' send stationery, 'never' send teabags, etc etc.

Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Based on this experience I don't know. We didn't receive the initial Betty Box and only received the April replacement after I contacted Mumsnet twice. (This was after my emails kept bouncing back undelivered!)
We didn't receive a Pink Parcel at all, despite contacting Mumsnet and being told my details were being passed to Pink Parcel and they were 'looking into it'.
I've had no communication from Pink Parcel as of yet about the whereabouts of the missing box.
No apology or proper acknowledgment of the name database mix-up was given to the testers from PP/BB and reading some of the other feedback I see some testers didn't receive any boxes at all, some even went on to receive three of the same box!
Some boxes had missing items and some the wrong size pads.
I don't think I'd be very confident to recommend at this moment in time.

Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Not sure yet as the pads arrived too late for this month, but her periods are very light and it looks more than enough. She put the bedtime pads in the school toilets for others to use as they are far too big for her.

                                    *    *      *      *      *

I've been a Mumnset product tester in the past and as always, thank you Mumsnet HQ for selecting me.
I feel like this test was a bit chaotic and I didn't come away from it feeling very confident about the brand.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I like the idea but would need it to fit through the letterbox which none of them did

I think the bettybox was more than the pink parcel

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
I would need more sanitary products to last me a month. Bettybox was a good starter selection

Bettybox yes, pink parcel possibly not

Too little for me but a good mix. About right for my daughter
