This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have been testing monthly subscription boxes Pink Parcel and/or bettybox with their daughters.

Here’s what Pink Parcel and bettybox have to say:

Pink Parcel: “Pink Parcel is the UK’s No1 period subscription box that unites periods and pampering to make your time of the month fuss-free and fabulous. Delivered to your door monthly on a day of your choosing each box contains over £40 of tampons, pads and beauty products including a mix of cult beauty brands, herbal teas and artisan chocolates. You can select your choice of tampons, pads or a mix of both from all your trusted brands. This convenient box ensures you’ll never run out of products again.”

bettybox: “bettybox is the perfect pick me up for girls. As well as all their trusted tampons and/or pads, they can expect sweet treats, make-up, stationery and more all from brands specially selected for teens. Choose from your favourite tampon and pad brands and receive your monthly box with treats worth up to £30 delivered for free directly to your door. You’ll never have to worry about running out of pads again!”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following questions, as well as completing the survey we’ll be sending you via email shortly.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
  2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
  3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
  4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
  5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I've not actually received the pink parcel box, it sounds like the postman delivered it elsewhere ☹️ However my daughter received 2 Betty boxes so swings and roundabouts. I've completed the survey based on the Betty box only.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
There wasn't enough pads for my daughter for the month, her periods are quite heavy though.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not really, we would still need to buy more
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
More actual product, the treats were lovely but she would have been thrilled with 1 less and 2/3 more pads
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
As a treat or occasional purchase. I wish I'd known about these last summer when it was GCSE season it would have been a little boost for my daughter.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Too few pads.

Just as an aside the boxes don't fit through our standard letter box, we gave a parcel safe so all good there but it would be a nightmare to trek to the sorting office each month to collect it

twinsufficient · 19/04/2018 21:55

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It was a nice luxury but this wouldn't be enough to make me pay for this every month.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I personally wouldn't want to pay this much every month for what is essentially sanitary towels and a few beauty bits. If I had more disposable income then maybe.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box?

An option to choose what treats were included as beauty things every month might get a bit boring.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Probably more likely the Betty box as it makes starting periods more bearable for teenage girls.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Far too many. I felt like I was stockpiling in case of a national shortage!

Chooshoes · 19/04/2018 22:39
  1. I can't deny that both my daughter and i enjoyed getting the boxes and seeing what was inside but i personally wouldnt buy this service as it is too expensive for me also i think the novelty would wear off.
  2. No i didnt find either box value for money. Although my daughter liked most of the things that she received they are not things we would buy and the pads and tampons are probably only worth a couple of pounds.
  3. The packaging. It was far too much. I dont think there is any need for all the little boxes within the bigger box. Wasteful.
  4. Wouldnt recomment pink parcel although i do think the betty box is a good idea for young girls for the start of their periods. A nice treat each month... i like that idea.
  5. MY daughter and i both had a few too many but i would rather that than not enough.
Thank you for letting us trial this product.
NoMudNoLotus · 19/04/2018 22:46

Really liked our boxes !

Enjoyed the products.

Like that for BettyBox the towels are"teen" size.

One thing i might change is the seperate boxes with the "For now" "For later" etc so that i can mix them up as required.

I probably wouldn't recommend as i would need to know someone really well before recommending something so intimate.

However i have purchased a regular subscription for my 12 year daughter as a as she liked hers so much (and has since loved her second one ).

Thankyou for the opportunity.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
This was ideal for me as I often forget to restock and its nice to get a bit of a variety for a change.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not really. I usually only spend a couple of pounds a months on sanitary products so this was quite indulgent for me. I did love sampling the products however so this would be the bigger draw for me. I am tempted to buy a subscription just to try out new things.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
There was too much packaging for the pads and tampons. Id prefer the tampons to be all me contained in one packet.I feel the betty boxes aimed more at older teenagers so wasn't great for my 10 year old.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes i would. As a treat its nice to receive a surprise package through the post each month.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
It was just the right amount for me and my daughter.

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

My DD thought this was a great idea. The boxes need to be redesigned though so they actually fit through the letterbox.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Not particularly. Supermarket sanpro is inexpensive and easy to buy. We both loved the drawstring bag though.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

The option to customise the treats - bright red lippie isn't for me or DD.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I think young teens just starting menstruation would love this.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Needed slightly more pads than supplied.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 20/04/2018 10:25
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Ok, but cheaper to buy a pack of pads for £1 at the local shops
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
With the extras then possibly
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The name pink parcel, not all women love pink
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
If they had a teenager then maybe
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
IMO too many, but every woman is different
whatthefuckingfuck · 21/04/2018 18:19

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It's a nice idea and it was nice to get a little surprise aswell.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I don't know how much it's costs but my sanitary pads aren't that much so I wouldn't want to pay loads.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I think it would be nice if you could choose from a selection of beauty products that you'd like and also cater for any vegans that might want cruelty free.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I guess so.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I found I had too many but my periods are quite light and only last for a few days so might be different for others.

GoldfishCrackers · 21/04/2018 20:38
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Handyish. That in itself wouldn’t be a driver for me though.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Pink parcel: Yes Bettybox: No
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The packaging. It is lovely but wasteful and actively annoying: neither box fitted through my letterbox, so I had to get to the post office to collect them.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes. I loved the products in Pink Parcel. Dd thought the Bettybox products were a bit meh. (Worth pointing out DD got the April Bettybox
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
About right.
Youvegotafriendinme · 22/04/2018 07:02

This review is for both Betty box and pink parcel

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

The idea is a good one but not necessarily right for me. I live walking distance to shops and have to go to the supermarket a couple of times a week so am never without what I need. Same goes for my daughter. I do think it’s a nice idea for the right people though

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

I personally wouldn't want to pay this much every month for sanitary towels. A packet of own brand towels are never more than about £1. The little extras in each boxes are nice but certainly don’t warrant the extra money. I’d rather just buy us a chocolate bar each. We received 2 Betty boxes and the second box definitely felt it had less in it in monetary terms

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box?

The pink parcel would have to be the name. Personally I really don’t like it.
The Betty box would be the option to choose what’s in it for the treats. The first box delivered was much better than the second box. If we had received the second box first it would be a much different review

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Probably not. I think there’s a few things that need adjusting to get this right.
Also, the data protection issue at the start with Betty box was really not good.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Far too many for me. I’ve got enough for a couple of months now. My daughter had about the right enough left

madeyemoodysmum · 22/04/2018 07:53

Update on my report
Tried the tampons. Not keen. They slipped a bit once worn a while and became very uncomfortable plus they have plastic applicators. Should be card.

catsandsprogs · 23/04/2018 19:36
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
It's convenient, but to be honest so is picking up my sanitary items at the supermarket with my shopping!
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Yes and no. I may buy it as a one off treat as really liked some of the items, i.e. The facial oil and spray however I don't think I could justify it on a regular basis.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Less packaging, i.e. Multiple paper boxes within
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Enough, however I'm sure if it's because I selected the wrong items but I don't like scented sanitary products so would prefer an unscented option
bibolda · 24/04/2018 12:21

I tried pinkparcel and I was disappointed. I ordered mix box. Most of the tampons were small sizes. Also the brand I ordered changed packaging last year and they actually changed the foil packaging design and pinkparcel sells the old ones with no exp dates or made dates on.
Also I have a concern, how they pack these? with glowes on?

sarahsnail · 24/04/2018 19:59
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month? I like the idea, but I don’t think receiving the tampons and pads each month is enough to sway my to purchase the box each month. It’s easier to purchase during the weekly shopping.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? Yes, when you consider the other gifts I would be willing to pay for this.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? To much packaging inside the boxes and the boxes do not fit through the letterbox, going to the Royal Mail collection every month would be a pain.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes, especially friends with teenage daughters .
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

There was a good mix, but to many tampons.

AlistairSim · 25/04/2018 17:35

I've been holding off giving feedback in the hope PinkBox would be able to sort out their mess!
I received my box and I loved the treats but the sanitary products were the wrong ones and my daughter's box hasn't arrived.

On the whole this is not something I would spend money on.

MicrowaveSpy · 25/04/2018 17:52

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
It’s a great idea! DD was especially excited to receive hers.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
It is good value for money as the beauty products/extras are of great quality and full sized.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The actual boxes to be slightly smaller! We have (what we thought was) a larger than average letter box. Unfortunately the boxes are too big to fit.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes I would recommend both boxes. Maybe not as a monthly subscription though. For a once in a while treat, they are excellent! I don’t buy a lot of beauty products, so it really did feel very luxurious. Perhaps if you do buy beauty products regularly, a monthly subscription would make sense.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
We both had just enough products.

CoedynSbageti · 25/04/2018 18:28
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

It's ok but I don't feel it's a chore to pick them up from a shop myself so I didn't feel that it was a treat iyswim

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Not really. The pads were the brand I usually buy and I can get more than was in the box by buying two packs at a pound each. The treats were nice but they are only worth it if they are things that you would actually use. Some items have been pushed to the back of the drawer and will no doubt remain there until they get swept into a bin bag during a cull.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

There was no option for teen pads. My daughter usually uses the lil-lets teen range which are narrower.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Not really, they were nice to receive as a one off (DD actually received two!) but not worth subscribing to tbh.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I didn't order any tampons. I had enough pads with a small amount left over so a perfect amount really.

Jayjayharrychops · 25/04/2018 18:52
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Was lovely to receive feminine products especially in the lovely little drawstring bags.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

It's a great idea and there were lots of nice surprises but I do not think that I could justify spending £15 per month.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I would tag each feminine product as you can't always tell which products are in each wrapper.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

I would recommend to people with young teens as I think they would benefit the most and show periods as a positive thing.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I didn’t choose tampons for my box, and I didn't have any towels over in fact I had to use a few of my own.

constantreader · 25/04/2018 19:06

Late to the party but here's my feedback!

  1. Handy to have the products delivered and liked the wee pouches for popping into my handbag.

2.Hmmm... I usually buy pads from a generic range so normally less than £1. However I did enjoy all the little treats that came with it so I could be tempted.... to be honest I've subscribed to Birchbox previously which costs about the same, and you get a similar amount of gifts so actually looking at it that way it is good value, as the pads and tampons are like an added bonus!

  1. It was nicely presented but it's kind of a large parcel - so much packaging!
  1. Yes, I'd recommend. Especially to parents of young teens as I think it would be a nice treat for girls just starting out on their lives getting used to having periods - might make periods something to actually look forward to!
  1. I felt that there were loads and more than I personally would usually need - but better too much than too little in this case!

Thanks for choosing me Smile

BetterTogether · 25/04/2018 19:22
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Felt like a nice treat to have a parcel to open, and we especially liked the extras. However in terms of the sanpro it would be just as easy to buy them in the weekly shop.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

In terms of sanpro, not really. However as a treat/pick me up - especially for a teen who has just started her periods - I wouldn't mind spending it.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

The option to customise them. For beauty boxes I have subscribed to previously you fill in a questionnaire with skin type, food preferences etc so that the extras are matched to you.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Pink Parcel not really - I can think of better subscription boxes for adults (such as gin!!) However I do think it is a good idea for young teens - I know with my daughter, she finds it embarrassing to discuss her periods with me, so being able to just hand the box over made it easier for her.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

Good mix, I was happy with how many we received. More panty liners would've been useful for before/after days.

Thanks for letting us try the boxes out! Good experience, and something I would consider in future for my daughter Smile
