This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who have been testing monthly subscription boxes Pink Parcel and/or bettybox with their daughters.

Here’s what Pink Parcel and bettybox have to say:

Pink Parcel: “Pink Parcel is the UK’s No1 period subscription box that unites periods and pampering to make your time of the month fuss-free and fabulous. Delivered to your door monthly on a day of your choosing each box contains over £40 of tampons, pads and beauty products including a mix of cult beauty brands, herbal teas and artisan chocolates. You can select your choice of tampons, pads or a mix of both from all your trusted brands. This convenient box ensures you’ll never run out of products again.”

bettybox: “bettybox is the perfect pick me up for girls. As well as all their trusted tampons and/or pads, they can expect sweet treats, make-up, stationery and more all from brands specially selected for teens. Choose from your favourite tampon and pad brands and receive your monthly box with treats worth up to £30 delivered for free directly to your door. DD's feedback for her Bettybox

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I really liked it,it's a great idea.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Yes, some of the beauty products are worth a lot more.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The size, my mum had to go and collect it from the sorting office and because she was working it took days.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/Bettybox to a friend/family member?
Yes.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Just about right, I'd have liked some pantyliners too.

My feedback- it's a pain that they don't really fit through most letter boxes. I have to drive past the supermarket to the sorting office (miles away) so it convenience aspect is just not true. DD would like the box monthly, I'm really not sure it's worth the money or the hassle to be honest.

Imgettingcheesefries · 11/04/2018 14:31

An update now my pink parcel has finally arrived.

  1. Well the massive wait for it to arrive obviously makes it not very convenient but if it was to arrive at the same time every month it would be good, although it does have a lot of pads in, probably wouldn't use all of them in one month.
  1. Yes I do think the pink parcel is good value for money, there are loads of pads inside and it had quite a lot of treats inside too
  1. We received 2 Betty boxes and one pink parcel and none of them fit through the letterbox, also the pink parcel looked abit boring inside compared to Betty box
  1. Yes I would, mine arrived this morning and I have the flu and it really made my day receiving it
  1. For me it's quite a lot, me and dd also really liked the cotton bag but don't think that would be necessary every month
Raahh · 11/04/2018 16:08

I've had a better look at what came with dd's box, and she's quite pleased with the pens and stuff. She's also nabbed the lip scrub (which I quite likedGrin).

All in all- it's a nice 'one off' I think for her- but I don't think it's a necessity every month. And I think I would end up finding most of the things in my box would get taken by other people- the tea was nice, but I like tea. I agree that for teens/younger girls something like a hot chocolate would be more appropriate/use ful really.

7 year old dd2 ate my chocolates.

The lipstick was a strange colour on me, but I'm fussy and don't wear lipstick much any way(I chew it off[blush). I did like the pugs on the packaging though. and (at the grand age of 46) I have never been able to use eyeliner- so I expect that will sit somewhere until dd1 finds a use for it/ Hallowe'en Grin.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month? First i.pressions very positive.
  2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? Not particularly but felt like a treat rather than a monthly chore.
  3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? Size. Picking up from post office was a pain in the bum.
  4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? Yes although having 4 females in the house it would prove way too expensive.
  5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products? My box was pretty spot on the betty box was generous on all contents so we were left with 'spares' which is great.
princesspeach21 · 12/04/2018 08:41
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Packaging was lovely and nice to have it delivered to my door.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? Yes considering all of the products I received.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? I thought that the Pink Parcel had an excessive amount of cardboard to separate all the different items.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? Yes I would although I think most people would find it too expensive.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products? Too many but this isn't a bad thing!
toomuchlikemyusername · 12/04/2018 09:54
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
As someone who regularly visits the supermarket this doesn't really save me any time nor money. My DD liked the idea more than I did, but that was more due to the treats that the box contained rather than the delivery of the sanitary products themselves.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
For the sanitary items themselves no. The extra items did provide good value but the randomness of them would be the barrier to me ordering. I thought the whole 'one tea bag' offering was a bit pointless. Yes, ok for a sample but a larger quantity of a decent straightforward tea would have appealed more to me.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Size. Two trips to the post office as yes, my letter box appears to be smaller than the majority (I think B.B. need to revisit this claim they make about fitting through most letterboxes). This alone would prevent me from ordering.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
As a one off treat, yes maybe. As a regular item, no. Better spend the money in the shop on a product of your choosing.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
The mix was fine but over time I would no doubt get the products totally mixed up. I prefer a good back up supply so would probably supplement for a few months from the supermarket to be confident I had enough to cope with our needs.

A nice idea but I think it needs a bit more development. Less pink and less packaging too. Lots of cardboard plus plastic wrapper for the box.

Good to be part of a trial, thanks MN and BB.

ASDismynormality · 12/04/2018 18:37
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I get my shopping delivered weekly so would normally get any pads/tampons in that shopping so no real difference for me.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Not worth it for the period products but worth it for the extras such as beauty.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
More pads.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Probably not.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
A good mix but would have liked more.
cinderfrickingrella · 13/04/2018 07:37

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I like the idea of it, I felt the amount of packaging was too much and they did not fit through (my very standard sized) letter box.

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Yes and no. San pro is obviously a lot cheaper on it's own, but if you were considering signing up to a beauty box product anyway, then yes and nice to get treats around the time of your period, especially for the teenagers.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Less/smaller packaging. The contents were great.

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Definitely the Bettybox. My daughter was very happy to receive hers around a time she's usually a little grumpy Smile

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
I found we had too much. My daughter only chose pads and had quite a lot left over. I had a combination and again, had lots left over.

DidIMissSomething · 13/04/2018 14:40
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Good idea in principle but not sure that quantities would be right and choice was limited.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Ok compared to other beauty boxes
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? Should fit through the letterbox.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
No - especially not after address debacle.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
About right for quantities.

Boxes were ok but as they were generic both DD and I had products unsuitable for our skin tones. I have dairy allergy so treat included no good to me and as it contained no ingredients info not good for anyone with dietary issues. We both hated the pink parcel name and branding and the cheap pink bag inside it for pads - that would never be used by either me or DD. All in all we would probably choose a beauty box in preference.

muffinheaven · 13/04/2018 15:13
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I like the idea of it especially for my DD as it is a fun thing to receive every month.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
No, it's far more expensive than just going out and buying pads/tampons. I couldn't justify the expense for myself but if I only had one DD I might consider it for her but with 2 DD's there is no way I could spend that much money every month on sanitary products.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
The packaging. There is too much extra packaging inside the box. it also needs to be smaller as I'm at home during the day so could get the box off postman easily but there is no way it would fit through my letterbox.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
I might recommend it as a one off treat but no, not on a regular subscription it's too expensive.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
My box lasted me 2 months but my DD didn't have enough so I think it's hard to tailor a box to suit as at my age approaching menopause, and my DD only recently started, your needs really fluctuate month by month.
InvisibleToEveryone · 14/04/2018 21:32

Will post my review tomorrow when DD is about.

AWafferthinmint · 14/04/2018 21:58

L

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month? I like the idea as I'm quite disorganised and never remember to replenish stocks.
  2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? Probably a bit overpriced for the adult version as there are lots of unnecessary extras that you are paying for.
  3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? I would quite like a basic box with just the products and not the extras.
  4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? I thought it was great for my daughter, she was genuinely excited about it. Me, not so much.
  5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products? A good mix.
imnottoofussed · 14/04/2018 23:27
  1. It was an interesting idea although they didn’t actually fit through the letter box. I was in for the first deliveries but had to rearrange the replacement. Slightly frustrating since I have a perfectly standard door and letterbox.
  2. Yes I would say so because although I wouldn’t spend that much on sanitary wear the goodies seemed to cost more so it felt like a bargain.
  3. Change tha packaging. The outer box was a bit flimsy. In fact the Betty box was crushed both times. And get rid of the inner boxes make them compartments instead.
  4. Probably not. I don’t know anyone who would want to spend that much each month on sanitary products and treats.
  5. I ordered pads and there was enough for me although they needed some sort of info sheet inside as I forgot what I had ordered.
ChampagneCharlotte · 16/04/2018 09:35
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month? I can see how convenient this could be.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money? Not really - as others have said, the treats are lovely, dd and i both loved our selections, but I'm not sure I could justify it every month.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? I wouldn't change anything. The packaging is recyclable which is good.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member? Yes but I think the expense might be hard to justify. It would make a good subscription gift for a girl who is starting her periods. DD really loved the treats and I know she would like to have the bettybox every month, although I suspect it would lose its appeal after a while.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products? This was great, plenty of both.
InvisibleToEveryone · 17/04/2018 18:52

1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

Initially seems a good idea, till you get the first box and have to traipse 3-4 miles to the next village to collect it from the post office, because it doesn't fit through the letter box!!

2. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Um, expensive to be honest, as a once off or as a treat possibly, but again the price goes up if you have to drive somewhere to collect it, so if I've got to go out okay as well but my own supplies and treats.

3. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

Size of the box, amount of packaging inside and the "junk mail".

4. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

DD2 liked hers, particularly the chai tea and the bags to keep the pads in, DD1 rather enjoyed the blackhead tool, she's a sporner like me!!
Some of the make up was a bit, erm, bright, and DD2 doesn't wear make up generally.

I may recommend as a treat.

5. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

We only had pads, but there was quite a few, but not labelled as to sizes so we had to guess what was what by the size of the pad.

InvisibleToEveryone · 17/04/2018 18:58

Oh yes, having seen another PP comment, my boxes were torn and squished, I assumed from an attempt to get it through the letterbox??
I don't know?

OfIceAndFire · 18/04/2018 18:13
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
It was a lovely treat. We both enjoyed the surprise goods that were inside (and swapped some between us!). There were many more pads and tampons than either of us would use in a month, but a really good selection.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
No. The boxes are ÂŁ12.99 a month, a lot to spend on a couple of surprise and sanitary products. I pay about ÂŁ2 a month for sanitary products currently. I also felt that the (very nice) products were more of an advertising idea to get you to buy more from the companies they came from (basically you're paying to be advertised to and trial products). This annoyed me a little, I'm not sure why. All the products were of good quality.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Nothing. They were a very nice luxury but not something I would buy a subscription to.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
If I knew someone who was after something like this, I would definitely recommend either of these boxes to them.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Surprise products were about right, plenty of choice for tampons and towels, but way too many if you were getting them monthly.
TalesOfStepford · 18/04/2018 18:44
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
I'm not embarrassed about buying sanitary pads & tampons, neither do I think anyone else should be. But it is great to have them delivered as I occasionally get caught short.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
Compared to other subscription boxes I think they are quite good value. I loved the lipstick and DD really enjoyed using her moisturiser & facemask. Also the chocolate was very nice!
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?
Less packaging, there are an awful lot of boxes to recycle afterwards.
  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
I would bettybox as its a nice pick me up to get for a young girl, possibly as a one off if not a subscription.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
The products were quite plentiful so I was more than happy with the number and variety included.
annasmummmy · 18/04/2018 18:47
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I really like the concept as it means no last minute dash to the shops

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes, considering the high quality products included.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

Identify the absorbency of the pads on the packaging

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes, definitely.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I had too many pads. I’d also prefer more of a selection on absorbency

startover · 18/04/2018 18:57

1 . I thought receiving pads and tampons to your door was a good idea , I hadn’t thought about it before as had never had a problem with buying them from the shop but it would be a nice idea to not have to think about buying them .

  1. Yes I thought the boxes were very good value for the price the beauty products were very good quality and the boxes were cheaper then beauty boxes and also had the pads and tampons and the extras of chocolate and tea bags etc
  1. The only thing I would change is so they could fit through the letterbox but beauty boxes I have purchased in the past haven’t fitted through the letterbox either

4.i would definitely recommend them to family and friends my daughter particularly loved the boxes and I am thinking about getting her a subscription

5.For me and my daughter the amount of pads and tampons was correct , but I know it could be difficult to get the amount correct .

My daughter loved everything about her box and at 15 yrs old that can be a difficult thing to achieve so I was very impressed

strawberryblondebint · 18/04/2018 19:16

we’ll be sending you via email shortly.

  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?
Not necessary for me really. I recently tried a reusable cup and think it’s the best thing ever. However my daughter would love it and it cuts out the embarrassment factor.
  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?
I do actually as the makeup and skin treats were just brilliant.
  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es? Same as other posters ... make it smaller packaging. Clearly label the absorbency
  2. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?
Absolutely. Especially my friends with teenagers. Just as good as a beauty box by practical as well.
  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?
Good mix but overall too much product. It would build up quickly.

Great idea. My daughter loved the little book. However the data protection thing was annoying and we only got 3 out of the 4 boxes.

NeverSurrender · 18/04/2018 21:05

What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I would consider it if they had fit through my letterbox! It's easier to nip to the shop than queue up at the post office.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

not bad value. I would be willing to pay a bit extra for the novelty of it.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

That they fit through our standard sized letter box

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how

Not quite enough. I had the wrong ones delivered for me - pads Instead of tampons.

PutOnAHappyFace · 19/04/2018 07:06
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

I think its a nice idea to come straight to your door, me and DD both enjoyed the little treat box.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

Yes, there was a good amount of pads and tampons.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I didn't fit through my letter box so i had to go to sorting office to pick it up, so if they could possible make it a bit smaller. Also the amount of cardboard also felt excessive.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Yes i would. I think its a nice idea especially for teens.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

I found it was a good amount that i had enough for this month and a little to save for the start of next months period so i wouldn't be caught short.

ColdAsIceCubes · 19/04/2018 07:19
  1. What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

My dd in particular liked receiving the box, it meant she didn't have to ask me if I'd replenished our drawer.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

The boxes are lovely, but I could buy several months worth of pads for the price of one box.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

My dd doesn't like make up, so an option to choose what went into the boxes would be good I.e stationery.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

Unfortunately, with the mix up of names has put me off a little, also the amount of time they took to get here didn't fill me with confidence to commit to spending my own money.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products?

There was just enough for my dd, but I use several packs a month as I have a very heavy flow. I had to supplement my pads with my own to get through the month.

Roseshavethorns · 19/04/2018 21:16

1.What did you think about receiving your pads and tampons directly to your door each month?

The quantity delivered was not sufficient for my needs and so I would have to purchase more which defeats the purpose of the product.

  1. Do you feel PinkParcel/bettybox is good value for money?

If the contents were tailored to individual interests/ needs it may be. In my case the "treat" was of no use or interest to me.

  1. What one thing - if anything - would you change about the box/es?

I would like the box to be more tailored and the treat to be more about indulgence and comfort.

  1. Would you recommend Pink Parcel/bettybox to a friend/family member?

The Betty Box was a huge hit with my daughter, however the issues surrounding data protection mean I would hesitate to recommend it.

  1. Did you find you had too little, too much or just enough pads and tampons and how did you find the mix of tampon and pad products

Too little product for me. There were too many tampons in the Betty Box.

Overall the idea is a good one, especially for younger girls. Anything that makes periods less negative is a good thing.
However I feel the contents were too generic. It should not be too difficult to offer a chance to refine the contents to suit the individual.
