This thread is for all the Mumsnet research panellists who've been trying out Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream. Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too. Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream? What did you think about the packaging?
Q2 How did it compare with other face creams you've used?
Q3 What do you think is the biggest contributor to skin ageing (apart from getting older obviously!)? Lack of sleep? Stress? Sun exposure? Pollution? Did this cream feel like it was soothing or fighting the ageing process at all when you used it or not?

Funnily enough I was just wondering about this when I got the email this morning.

I guess mine must be one of the last batch to be sent out as I haven't got it yet.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream? What did you think about the packaging?

I liked the little tube, it makes it very easy to apply although it does look a bit clinical and dull for my tastes. The outer packaging was awful. It arrived all squashed and damaged, with the ink flaking off the plastic. Not a good look. I quite liked the smell, seemed quite fresh and not overpowering.

Q2 How did it compare with other face creams you've used?

It went on very smoothly and soaked in very quickly, looks very matte so that's good. Some just sit there for ages or look very shiny.

Q3 What do you think is the biggest contributor to skin ageing (apart from getting older obviously!)? Lack of sleep? Stress? Sun exposure?

I reckon stress and lack of sleep etc is probably pretty bad. I take sun exposure fairly seriously. Maybe just genes though? Some people just have amazing skin. Overall, I'd say lifestyle. My skin is very dry at the moment because I spend a lot of time outside so it was definitely happy to have any cream on it.

Q4 What do you think about the synthetic snake venom ingredient in the cream?! Did it put you off initially or encourage you to use it?! Or did it not influence your opinion?

It sounds quite cool so it definitely intrigued me. I found it quite appealing in that respect.

Q5 Is there anything about the cream that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Packaging could be better.

Q6 A 10ml tube of Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream costs £4.99 - do you think that it represents good value for money or not? Why? Do you think you'll use the face cream again? Why?

That seems good value for money - certainly worth a punt at that kind of price. I might use it again, particularly since it's quite cheap.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream to others and why?

Possibly, I'd say it felt pretty good and was worth a try given the cost.

I was just going to contact you to say mine hadn't arrived! I have been holding off replacing my old moisturiser but I've run out now. To live with a dry face over the w/e or to cave in and spend money I haven't got? Whether 'tis nobler to suffer the flakiness of outrageous dermis, or to take coins to the chemist......

Too soon to say yet, as I have on just started to use it ( last night) and I have come out in little white spots in the are I used it on.

I will see what happens over the next few days before making further judgement!

The packaging was squashed, the plastic is cheap and flimsy, the product looks good, and the colour of the tube and design look very good, it looks appealing and much more expensive than it is, as though it deserves better packaging

Too soon to say, but I have little whiteheads in the area that I applied it.

Central heating, hard water. I wouldn't say that it had any physical effect, feeling etc on my skin after applying, apart from being a bit greasy.

Not really impressed by that, but I have heard that snake venom is good for skin, but not sure I would try the real thing!

It ejaculated all over the mirror and my hair as I aimed it at the crevice on my forehead when I first used it, a bit of a Sally meets Harry moment! The packaging definitely needs a redesign.

I am used to paying 10x that amount, so if it works it is extremely good value!
I probably wouldn't buy it as I have never shopped in Aldi! I like to go to the specialist beauty counter and get advice for what I need.

I'd certainly say that I had tried it, but think a few of my friends would be a bit surprised that I was using an Aldi product!

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream? What did you think about the packaging?

Packaging definitely gave the impression of belonging to a "value" product. The plastic cylinder container is quite flimsy (this is not a bad thing because many cosmetics are packaged to withstand a nuclear explosion but it definitely gives the impression of belonging to a cheaper product. The actual container is an unnecessary faff. I didn't think there was any need to put the product into the syringe as it looks quite cheap and although supposed to allow accurate application it is not sensitive enough. My first attempt ended in cream hitting the mirror, subsequently I just squeezed onto my finger and applied that way. I think it would be just as easily applied from a small pot.

Q2 How did it compare with other face creams you've used?

Probably in the middle, quite a light texture, pleasant smell.

Q3 What do you think is the biggest contributor to skin ageing (apart from getting older obviously!)? Lack of sleep? Stress? Sun exposure? Pollution? Did this cream feel like it was soothing or fighting the ageing process at all when you used it or not?

For me, lack of sleep, lack of water (hydration). This cream is quite light so feels soothing rather than fighting.

Did I even know about this snake venom?! I fished the packaging out of the bin to check when I read this but even then, I wasn't very clear. If this is supposed to be a selling point, you need to advertise the fact more!

Q5 Is there anything about the cream that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Packaging could be better, get rid of the silly "medical" syringe and put it in a tube or pot. Fragrance could be better but that is a personal preference.

Absolutely good value, particularly for a "niche" cream such as under-eye, anti-wrinkle, etc.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream to others and why?

Not sure yet because I haven't seen any improvement in wrinkles but have only been using for a few days. If it works, would have no hesitation in recommending and no qualms about admitting to buying supermarket skin care.

Still waiting... had a package in the post today and got all excited but it was cat treats. Not quite the same.

Me and my wrinkles are still waiting too - did have a parcel today but it was a case of wine rather than wrinkle cream. Possibly that's better .

The only package I had today was an underpaid postage one that I had to go to the PO and pay for [grr] (some not-such-a-bargain ebay computer part for dh I presume!)

ooh I just emailed Katie to ask where mine was but I see I'm not alone in still waiting! I looked in the mirror today and I seem to be suddenly wrinkly. boo.

So how many testers have actually received anything yet? Am I in a very small, select group? Have I been identified as in most urgent need of this wrinkle-buster?

Maybe the snakes aren't giving up the venom so easily

Perhaps that's because they are synthetic snakes, it must be very diffucult to extract synthetic venom from a synthetic snake!!
