KatieBMumsnet · 23/03/2012 09:41

This thread is for all the Mumsnet research panellists who've been trying out Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream. Below are some questions to get you started but please feel free to add other comments too. Everyone who adds their feedback on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a 'pamper hamper' containing all sorts of goodies worth around £60. If you weren't a tester but would like to take part in product tests, please sign up to our panel here.

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream? What did you think about the packaging?
Q2 How did it compare with other face creams you've used?
Q3 What do you think is the biggest contributor to skin ageing (apart from getting older obviously!)? Lack of sleep? Stress? Sun exposure? Pollution? Did this cream feel like it was soothing or fighting the ageing process at all when you used it or not?
Q4 What do you think about the synthetic snake venom ingredient in the cream?! Did it put you off initially or encourage you to use it?! Or did it not influence your opinion?
Q5 Is there anything about the cream that you think could be improved? If so, what?

Q6 A 10ml tube of Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream costs £4.99 - do you think that it represents good value for money or not? Why? Do you think you'll use the face cream again? Why?
Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream to others and why?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

Nothing here yet....waiting! I want to look less wrinkly!

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 29/03/2012 12:24

Mine came this morning, thank you Smile

Will try it out and then come back to give feedback.

annh · 29/03/2012 12:57

Umm, I've just had my second lot of the stuff delivered. It's about a week since the first delivery came. Interestingly, the first time was special delivery and I had to go to the depot, this time it was just shoved in the postbox. Am getting a bit paranoid that my wrinkles have been deemed as a desperate case in need of intensive treatment!

SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 29/03/2012 13:06

I've just received mine. Haven't used it yet but just wanted to post initial impressions.

Q 1. The flimsy outer packaging had broken open in the post, but the syringe was undamaged. The syringe makes it look quite clinical, as if it it's a high-strength, prescription-only product.

Q 3. I think sun-damage, pollution (including tobacco damage) and genetics play the biggest role in skin-aging.

Q4. The mention of the snake venom I found a bit off-putting, but I'm glad it is synthetic. I was also a bit put off by the statistic that it reduces muscle cell activity. I suppose that makes it sound botox-like, but I have a biochemistry background and I don't ready like the sound of that. Mind you, I don't really like the sound of wrinkles either.

I'm looking forward to trying this later. I'll post back in a couple of days.

KatieBMumsnet · 29/03/2012 13:07

annh Aldi did say that some samples were sent out twice accidentally, but don't worry you can keep it or give to a friend etc.
For those of you still waiting, I have passed your details onto Aldi and they are chasing - sorry for the delay.

Mmmcoffee · 29/03/2012 13:31

Still waiting.

DH has helpfully left a pot of Polyfilla on the landing today. I'm wondering if he's noticed something and is making a point... Hmm Grin

Jux · 29/03/2012 13:32

Hoorah! It's arrived. Too late to use this morning, but plunged a tiny bit out by mistake so put it on the back of my hand. Goes in very nicely and that tiny bit did half my hand, so a little does go a long way.

I like the packaging. It had popped in the post so the lid of the plastic tube was off and the tube itself was a bit squashed, but the syringe thing was fine. Couldn't get it to work at first, but realised I was being stupid and trying to push the syringe down while it was in the 'off' position - that's why I ended up putting some on my hand Blush

Seems quite nice, though I don't like the smell AT ALL

AlmaMartyr · 29/03/2012 13:34

I've had a second lot delivered as well, will see if a friend wants it.

To add to previous feedback, I don't find the applicator very precise, it just spurts anywhere so I need to put it on my fingers first. Not a problem though.

Jux · 29/03/2012 13:34

I like the name KatieBumsnet. Beautifully irreverent. Keep it!

Pascha · 29/03/2012 13:35

Hurrah I clicked on this thread and within 5 seconds the postman arrived with my little brown jiffy bag of smooth skin. I shall go forthwith and try it. Grin

Jux · 29/03/2012 13:35

Can I have a second one too please? Grin

IShallWearMidnight · 29/03/2012 14:25

maybe mine will be there when I go home - damn you work for getting in the way of my soon-to-be unwrinkliness Wink

FruitShootsAndHeaves · 29/03/2012 15:27

Mine has arrived today..hooray

The outer packaging on mine had also broken open but product inside is ok.

Will report back in a few days ...wrinkle free maybe Grin

loolooskiptotheloo · 29/03/2012 15:48

Q1 What was your overall impression of Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream? What did you think about the packaging?
i liked the syringe effect on first impression but you still had to rub in with finger so seemed a bit pointless

Q2 How did it compare with other face creams you've used?
i've not used face creams before

Q3 What do you think is the biggest contributor to skin ageing (apart from getting older obviously!)? Lack of sleep? Stress? Sun exposure? Pollution? Did this cream feel like it was soothing or fighting the ageing process at all when you used it or not?
i think it is sun damage and squinting when the sun is in your eyes! no noticable feeling as yet.

Q4 What do you think about the synthetic snake venom ingredient in the cream?! Did it put you off initially or encourage you to use it?! Or did it not influence your opinion?
it sounds exciting but wouldn't influence me i don't think.

Q5 Is there anything about the cream that you think could be improved? If so, what?
possibly the packaging, it was inoffensive but nothing stood out.

Q6 A 10ml tube of Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream costs £4.99 - do you think that it represents good value for money or not? Why? Do you think you'll use the face cream again? Why?
yes it sounds like a reasonable price.

Q7 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Aldi's Lacura Wrinkle Stop face cream to others and why?
possibly, if the results warranted it, the thing that would stop me is that it's from aldi.

CroissantNeuf · 29/03/2012 16:05

Hooray! Mine has arrived this morning.

Like others, the outer tube was a bit crushed in the post. Its very clinical looking isn't it!? When I got it out of the envelope DP was giving me Hmm looks -goodness only knows what he thought it was!

TimeForMeAndDD · 29/03/2012 16:58

The outer packaging on mine was broken too.

Oh, and if everyone else is having a second one, can I have one too please Grin

alibubbles · 29/03/2012 18:10

I must be really wrinkled as I have received a second one today too, this was not a recorded signed for as the other one was.

I will pass both on as still bringing me out in little white spots, really annoying as I have a wedding coming up!

The packaging was destroyed this time!

I meant "Something about Mary" moment, not "When Harry met Sally" in reference to the cream ejaculating everywhere!

loolooskiptotheloo · 29/03/2012 18:45

on reflection, i like the plastic outer packaging (as aldi don't deliver so won't break while being posted individually) but the lettering on the side looks really cheap and clinical!
