Oooh, that's out just before my birthday and I have a February baby (who'll probably be a couple a months by then) on the way. Must add that to my gift list!

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 09/10/2008 12:20

Ok here is a question.

Does it REALLY REALLY annoy you that you aren't allowed to use your husband's really expensive cooker? And does he ever actually cook for the children?

MinkyBorage · 09/10/2008 12:20

I won't be rude, I got a ticking off the other night and have learned my lesson.
Actually, the main reason I won't be rude is because on Monday between 1 and 2, I have plans to trim my pubes, after which I shall be trying to remove a plastic stethascope from the gap between the fridge and the washing machine. So sorry to be missing it.

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 09/10/2008 12:21

Is he as good with his hands in bed as he is in the kitchen???

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:22

Tana Ramsay was booked in before we started this week's thread asking who you'd like - I know we're not very organised but we occassionally have a few things booked in - and yes she has been asked for in the past, as it happens I remember at least person asking for her not so long ago, so there!
Obviously you aren't going to please all the folks etc and we have carefully noted who's top of the wanted pops and will do our best, we promise.

All we are asking is that if you post on this thread for Tana that you are civil, please. If you want to suggest other guests then please do so here.
Ta

dinny · 09/10/2008 12:22

why is everyone so down on her? I really liked her recipe book

Ewe · 09/10/2008 12:23

Tana, how did you and Gordon become such good friends with David and Victoria Beckham? I wouldn't automatically think you had a huge amount in common apart from having children and being uber rich.

Also do you have more than one nanny?

Anna8888 · 09/10/2008 12:25

Tana should fire her agent for suggesting this.

MrsMattie · 09/10/2008 12:26

Hi Tana. What sort of name is Tana?

Swedes · 09/10/2008 12:31

MNHQ - I asked a simple question requiring a simple answer. Pop your tongue back in and get back to appealing for posters to be civil to your invited guest.

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:32

Right-oh.

FeelingLucky · 09/10/2008 12:34

Oh dear, can't MNHQ just admit that Tana Ramsey isn't a very good idea. Unless people actually want to talk to her and treat her with the respect you so want, wouldn't it be better just to cancel? Or do you want to censor our thoughts which we want to put to her?
Bit like Slebworship ... new religion.

Personally, I'm a bit uncomfortable with all this sleb promotion (unless it's someone a lot of us genuinely want to talk to). And, unlike Morningpaper, Tana Ramsey isn't really a Mnetter is she? Looking forward to Morningpaper getting a Live Chat to promote her book in February.

Olipop · 09/10/2008 12:35

Well I for one am quite interested in what she has to say...and I really like her books and am looking forward to the new one.

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 09/10/2008 12:38

MNHQ are trying to make a living and raise the profile of mnet...if part of this means question and answer sessions with famous people - so what?

Not every sleb is going to be liked by everyone or be the number one choice and ok, I'll agree that Tana is annoying in that she does appear to be riding the coat tails of Gordon's fame but that's not MNHQ's problem and it doesn't mean that people have to reduce a perfectly civil question and answer session into a childish playground tit for tat gossip fest! If it bothers you that much, leave Mumsnet or something!

To have Mnet having to ask fully grown adults to please keep a thread nice and justify it is just imo!

TheDullWitch · 09/10/2008 12:39

The trouble is Tana Ramsey is a terrible phony. She will in no way have written that book. She isn't a chef or a madly enthusiastic cook in RL like Nigella. Or writing from the heart like Jamie Oliver (whose new book is fantastic: it should be handed out free to every family, it totally gets the type of food ordinary folks want to eat every day and should be applauded)

But Tana is touting a totally fabricated piece of PR shite.

PuzzleRocks · 09/10/2008 12:39

I'll kiss her arse for a free meal at Claridge's.

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:40

Well quite possibly it is FeelingLucky, quite possibly. All we can say is that lots of people thought Tony Parsons was a very bad idea, and then after the chat lots of people thought it a good idea.
You don't have to join in and you don't have to find it diverting of course but hopefully some people might.

combustiblelemon · 09/10/2008 12:40

MN will ask the people we request to come and do a chat, but they can't make them. Can you?

The people who have something to promote that is linked to 'mothers' will actively seek out these chats. Do you want MN to say no?

I think it is worth asking what these chats contribute. If they give MN cash then it it's probably worthwhile IMO, as it's not as if the guests get an easy ride. After all, we put up with Boden adverts.

EffiePerine · 09/10/2008 12:41

surely MN are asking us to say 'So Tanam did you actually write that book yourself?' rather than 'youa re a crock of shite'

which is fair enough

you can still hang her out to dry even while being polite, if you are so inclined

Anna8888 · 09/10/2008 12:41

"MNHQ are trying to make a living and raise the profile of mnet...if part of this means question and answer sessions with famous people - so what?"

Tana Ramsey does not fit the business model (as it has become).

Do you advertise sanpro during a rugby match?

TheDullWitch · 09/10/2008 12:41

Tony Parsons writes his own books.

mabanana · 09/10/2008 12:41

blimey I think being so rude to the nice people who run Mumsnet is really OTT on this thread. And as for gunning for someone on the basis of their name! yOu can't blame someone for their name!

Tana, how do you answer critics who claim you aren't a real cook? Was Gordon joking when he said you couldn't cook? What's his favourite meal?

What do you eat when you are at home by yourself in the evenings?

What's your best make-with-the-kids chocolate cake recipe? And what's your favourite method for making yummy icing?

(actually only really interested in answer to the last question!)

CatIsSleepy · 09/10/2008 12:42

is this going to turn into another Sheherezade-Gate?
will tana pull out at the last minute for unspecified personal reasons?
i wonder
MNers are so unruly

FWIW have not seen Tana's book
is it any good?
(that's not necessarily to tana, btw...)

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:44

If she doesn't, I might

combustiblelemon · 09/10/2008 12:44

I think there should be an attempt at balancing the mix of guests though. Maybe 2 Tanas to 1 Tanya Byron.
