Good-day peeps. Now we agreed after Tony P that we'd moderate these chats a little more

So with that in mind can we ask you to show the same basic courtesy to Tana as you would any new Mumsnetter, please? That doesn't mean we can't ask her about all sorts of stuff - I'm quite sure she's expecting some searching questions - but would be nice to keep it civil, dontcha think?

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 11:55

Justine did you just align yourself with SARAH PALIN?

combustiblelemon · 09/10/2008 11:55

Argggh! My eyes they burn. Please, not the winking!

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 11:55
nickytwoooohtimes · 09/10/2008 11:55

But she's not any new mner, is she?
She's promoting a new book.

purpleduck · 09/10/2008 11:56

I'm sure everyone will play nicely, but its grating having a bazillionaire mum telling us how they are "just like us"

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 11:56

a book written on the back of her husbands celebrity.

is MN not a meritocracy?

mabanana · 09/10/2008 11:57

Surely the divine Nigel can't hate children that much, he's bessie mates with Nigella! I am sure he is pretty indifferent to them and rather horrified by how they behave, as most middle aged single gentlemen tend to be! I still lurve him though. His recipes always work and are always yummy.

combustiblelemon · 09/10/2008 11:58

They let me on Miyazaki, so obviously not!

SarahPalin · 09/10/2008 11:58

has anyone seen any mooses?

mabanana · 09/10/2008 11:59

they make a great steak I hear...ideal for the larger family

combustiblelemon · 09/10/2008 12:00

Madhur Jaffrey likes children, but she wouldn't need to do any publicity, because she is amazing and her books sell fine without it.

You should all go and buy 'World Vegetarian' BTW.

combustiblelemon · 09/10/2008 12:01

Passes out 'Hockey Mom' disguises to all nearby moose.

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 12:01

Mmm... I have that.

Tarka Dhal...

TheDullWitch · 09/10/2008 12:02

So, Tana, please tell us how you remain so slim and lovely despite having four children? And how do you still manage to find time in your hectic lifestyle to make delicious home-made meals? Also how does it feel to be a role model for mothers worldwide?

stretchmarkSCREAM · 09/10/2008 12:02

She is linked with Nestle, isn't she?

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:02

Yes you're right nickytwoooohtimes Tana Ramsay is promoting her book but tbh most slebs who appear anywhere are promoting something, otherwise I supsect they wouldn't bother. And she's our guest, so can we please tidy up a little, get the best china out and speak nicely? Even if in our questioning we are all searching and Humphreys-Paxman-like

ps lots of Mumsnetters have got books to flog. Look at MP for instance - she's always banging on about hers.

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 12:04

Huh. Did MP only get to do her book cos her husb is Yehudi Gordon or sumfink. NO!

morningpaper · 09/10/2008 12:06

Tana: Do you have a copy of my 352-page book "Toddlers: A Million Mums' Trade Secrets" to be published by Bloomsbury on 9 February 2009 ISBN: 0747595887?

Anna8888 · 09/10/2008 12:07

I think MN towers is unwise to go down the route of sleb book promotions. And naïve unwiser still to expect MNers not to let rip.

Tailor your advertising to your audience .

Swedes · 09/10/2008 12:07

MNHQ - You know you started a thread asking who we would like to come on and do a live webchat........ did people really request Tana Ramsay?

dinny · 09/10/2008 12:09

Can you confirm how tall Gordon is as dh thinks he is 5 foot 8 (after dh was interviewed by him in the street for F Word) and I am sure he must be taller. thanks!

Miyazaki · 09/10/2008 12:13

It's not the book promotion so much as the idea that somebody who has been commissioned to 'write' a book solely becasue of who they are married to has anything to say of interest.

TheDullWitch · 09/10/2008 12:15

Also, way back when Gordon first became famous, I read him say his wife was very much a fish fingers and chicken nuggets cook, had no interest in kitchen, which is why he would let her use his superduper chef's kitchen in basement.

Obv she has hired a home economist to write it for her been on a crash cookery course.

TheDullWitch · 09/10/2008 12:16

I haven t mastered the strike thru commands yet.
