Tana Ramsay will be joining us on Mumsnet between 1 -2pm on Monday 13th October for a lunchtime chat about her latest book 'Home Made' and all things culinary. If you can't join us on Monday, please post your advance questions for Tana on this thread. Hope to see you Monday.

Good-day peeps. Now we agreed after Tony P that we'd moderate these chats a little more

So with that in mind can we ask you to show the same basic courtesy to Tana as you would any new Mumsnetter, please? That doesn't mean we can't ask her about all sorts of stuff - I'm quite sure she's expecting some searching questions - but would be nice to keep it civil, dontcha think?

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:02

Yes you're right nickytwoooohtimes Tana Ramsay is promoting her book but tbh most slebs who appear anywhere are promoting something, otherwise I supsect they wouldn't bother. And she's our guest, so can we please tidy up a little, get the best china out and speak nicely? Even if in our questioning we are all searching and Humphreys-Paxman-like

ps lots of Mumsnetters have got books to flog. Look at MP for instance - she's always banging on about hers.

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:22

Tana Ramsay was booked in before we started this week's thread asking who you'd like - I know we're not very organised but we occassionally have a few things booked in - and yes she has been asked for in the past, as it happens I remember at least person asking for her not so long ago, so there!
Obviously you aren't going to please all the folks etc and we have carefully noted who's top of the wanted pops and will do our best, we promise.

All we are asking is that if you post on this thread for Tana that you are civil, please. If you want to suggest other guests then please do so here.
Ta

Right-oh.

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:40

Well quite possibly it is FeelingLucky, quite possibly. All we can say is that lots of people thought Tony Parsons was a very bad idea, and then after the chat lots of people thought it a good idea.
You don't have to join in and you don't have to find it diverting of course but hopefully some people might.

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 12:44

If she doesn't, I might

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 13:26

There is a thread of who we should not invite is here Anna

Some lucky people appear on both the please invite and please don't invite threads but there you go.

(ps We've dis-invited Gary Glitter and Ian Paisley on your advice.)

JustineMumsnet · 09/10/2008 14:25

Hello again,
In response to a couple of points Anna888 has made. We aren't changing the rules, we are asking you (nicely I hope) to adhere to one the few ones we have - i.e. no personal attacks.

And we are asking you to be civil. But if you choose not to be, as some have, we aren't censoring you (so long as you aren't making a personal attack). You retain your full rights to incivility on MN - we are just saying we'd rather you weren't because Tana Ramsay does feel like our guest tbh. Yes her publisher is doing promotional stuff which they are paying for - they have an ad up on the site somewhere - but we don't just let everyone who asks on for a chat. So in that sense she's invited.

Obviously some (though not all) of you would rather we hadn't invited Tana Ramsay along and that's fair enough but as you say that's a gripe about Mumsnet Towers and not Tana Ramsay so maybe best conducted in one of the other threads discussing live webchats or start another in site stuff, rather than here.

No we send over the edited highlights... we might not send over the one about Gordon's cracks...
