I think the CF will send a solicitor’s letter pretty soon. He send the type.

Firstbornunicorn · 03/08/2021 13:57

SEEMS the type, I meant.

HaveringWavering · 03/08/2021 14:04

Do this OP. Clamp the CF

No,you've missed the point @notsogreenthumb

@HalzTangz said that only people with a clamping licence can clamp cars so that's not an option. (And anyway she's already immobilised it by locking the gate). However what OP can do is tow it away, as long as she gives sufficient notice.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/08/2021 14:04

Oh oh oh - in the excitement of finding thread 4, I forgot to go back and read thread 3 past where I left it - have just gone back and read the OP's posts and found the delicious exchange between DB (hero!) and CF.

It's absolute quality. Especially the bit where DB says about "whoever parked the car there won't be doing that again, pretty foolish". Halloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween GrinHalloween Grin

Worratwat he is, the CF.

@MaMelon - I know the feeling - it's me age, and meno-brain, wot causes the problems with the memory. Or, as a friend a few years older put it, "having a CRAFT moment [can't remember a fucking thing]" Grin

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 03/08/2021 14:05

I also nominate this for classics. This has been a brilliant read and the Op’s brother is a proper star.

IndieTara · 03/08/2021 14:06

@ThumbWitchesAbroad loving CRAFT

Collaborate · 03/08/2021 14:06

@UniversalAunt

What are the rules about abandoned vehicles being removed?

Does they apply to vehicles abandoned on private land?

Do the principles around getting unwanted goods picked up apply in this case, say if you give him notice to remove within x days otherwise the goods became lawfully yours?

There are no such principles re uncollected goods. See s14 of the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act.

Sorry for being a legal anorak.

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll but he hasn't played the "don't you know who i am card" Does that card ever work? If their perceived importance is in how well-known they are - and the fact that they have to ask the question suggests that they aren't that well-known

My experience of genuinely well-known people (in the Mick Jagger range of well-known, say) indicates that mostly, they would very much rather not be recognised but allowed to go about their day undisturbed. Living where we did, I met a few imagine the embarrassed teenager wishing the ground would open up and swallow them when their mum tears someone off a strip for riding his bicycle on a footpath and running into her, and I knew he is Paul McCartney and they never pulled that card even if it might have got them out of a fix, let alone just for swank.

yep I used to shop in king's Road Chelsea for a while and Waitrose and Marks were pretty good for famous faces also some of the off street pubs. No one took any notice. Later on in my life I used to fly Virgin Upper a few times a year (company paid) and all sorts of folk would be lounging in the Club House and queuing up to check in again without particular fuss.
MaMelon · 03/08/2021 14:13

@MotherofTerriers

He wouldn't ask OP if he can borrow jump leads. He will tell her to go and get some, or tell her to liaise with the local garage Or just stand there and ask her how she is going to fix this
Definitely this - he’s absolutely the type!
eternalopt · 03/08/2021 14:13

Just using my lunch hour to catch up with things on this being hugely invested - can't believe the car is still there!!

Oh I love your Mum! Aren’t you rather proud of her now you look back?? 😁

@ifIwerenotanandroid

You're right, of course. I'm now in a routine of - small work task, refresh MN, small work task, refresh MN, makes coffee, refresh MN............

melj1213 · 03/08/2021 14:19

@JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue

No update since early this morning? I'm wondering of the OP has been told by the CF to stop.
Or the OP is running a working farm and since nothing has happened there is nothing to update?
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/08/2021 14:19

I am now; but I am prouder yet of my mother-in-law. She was in Stoke Mandeville with a broken back, and someone walked into the ward smoking a cigar (this was well before no smoking was the universal rule in hospitals). She told him sternly to put that thing out, some of the people in the ward had chest complaints and he might kill them. So he slunk away discomfited -- one of the very few times Jimmy Savile didn't get his own way in that place, I suspect. Go M-i-L! (I didn't get on with her, but I did admire that.)

Emilyontmoor · 03/08/2021 14:19

I have encountered Mick, Jerry Hall, Pete Townsend, Jennifer Saunders, Pete Townsend, Richard E Grant walking the streets and taking advantage of nobody noticing them (though everyone that pretended to not notice Mick Jagger did turn their head after - he is actually incredibly petite with a big head - more 60s icon than human being ) . The most starry person I have encountered was Merryl Streep who sat totally relaxed in her seat at the theatre gossiping with a friend.

George Best in the clubs in the north you could get into with a forged bus pass however……..

LongTimeMammaBear · 03/08/2021 14:19

Oh my. Page 9 of thread 4 and this CF has still not collected his car!

sunshinesupermum · 03/08/2021 14:22

Mick and Jerry's kids went to the same school as mine. They both came to parents' evening and other events and they were just like any other parents.

And no way any of you other parents would have told a stranger that you were going to see them that evening, because that would have been twerpery of a high order.
Emilyontmoor · 03/08/2021 14:28

Mick and Jerry's kids went to the same school as mine. They both came to parents' evening and other events and they were just like any other parents. I heard the Dad’s race at Sports Day was even more competitive than usual (and we had Dads who suddenly appeared more often in the gym for a non starry Dad’s race!)

Mummylovesmonkeys · 03/08/2021 14:29

You don't think the footballer could be Harry Kane? He's not turned up for training today, and didn't turn up for Covid tests yesterday,

Perhaps his Ranger has been locked up by an unreasonable female farmer?

PegasusReturns · 03/08/2021 14:29

I think the CF will send a solicitor’s letter pretty soon. He send the type

That would be perfect. People who send solicitor letters in such circumstances fail to understand two important points:

  1. a solicitors letter holds no legal weight. Many solicitors will advance whatever argument their clients wish providing they’re acting with the parameters of the law and paying. Which leads to point 2) solicitors letters are expensive.

Once you receive a solicitor letter the best way to respond is in writing back to the solicitor. Seek clarity. They can be very confusing. It can help to request each point of clarity in a separate letter, over time Grin

bananafish · 03/08/2021 14:33

I know that posters might think we are owed a grand, theatrical denouement with points made, as so much energy has been invested.

However, honestly and completely understandably, I think OP will just want it gone.

Agree a time and let the fucker take it so you can get on with your life. He seems beyond redemption and continuing to get caught up in his games is like swallowing poison and waiting for the other person to die.

Bookworm20 · 03/08/2021 14:34

He most definitely has another vehicle, which is why its just been left for so long. And which explains why he refers to his 'beast' as the 'Ranger". Hopefully his other car is a little 2 seater, not big enough for the kids and bikes and sandwiches.

We have more than one car. Though not being a twat DP and I refer to them as the blue one and the black one. And when talking to other people, we refer to them simply as the 'car'.

He'll be needing the 'Ranger' soon enough when its his turn to have the kids again. But if he's an every other weekender dad we could be in for the long haul here.

If you can actually get him to agree a time. Could we all have your address OP so we can turn up en masse, line the side of the road and clap him sarcastically as he drives off? with possibly a few wanker hand signals thrown in.

Emilyontmoor · 03/08/2021 14:34

And no way any of you other parents would have told a stranger that you were going to see them that evening, because that would have been twerpery of a high order. Not just that but going in from saying that your beast has big pull to saying that they have such great parties -nudge nudge wink wink. That would go down really well……

I’m tempted to hang out my shingle as a Mumsnet Legal Blowhard.

Would have a blast sending out screeds shaming bad behavior regardless of jurisdiction.
