If the Ranger is a pick up, could DB just curl up in the back to sleep and only appear when CF gets home, at which point DB states that there was nowhere else to sleep and there were no signs saying he couldn't sleep there? Followed up by DB living in the back for the next three weeks?

Maybe let him know that it is too late now but you will be up at 5.30 and you recommend he comes early because the Forest rangers often on a Tuesday and might need access. Then it will be something for us early risers to read first thing.
