Stuff you think must happen to other people - but can't risk asking?

IMissFrance · 03/02/2021 11:21

Anyone else have stuff happen to you that must happen to others.

But you can't really ask because what if they say "NO! How weird!" And then you can never talk to that person again. Wink

So I'm bringing it to the anonymity of Mumsnet.

I'd love to hear other peoples. And will start off.

 • whenever I wash my hair in the shower (I have long hair) loose hairs wash down my back and end up in my bum crack. End of my shower I have to check there's no hair left.

I can't be alone in this grossness! (Or can I)

That you wish you had given your bottom one extra wipe...

I mentioned it to my sister once and she said she has never had that and was mortified...

Please say im not the only one 😂

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2021 21:17

Do anyone else's eyes water when they hear a spooky ghost story?

nobucketlist · 04/02/2021 21:20

Two sleep things ....

 • it doesn't matter what I'm thinking about just before I go to sleep I get a complete mind blank and completely lose all memory of what I've been thinking about (I'm still awake but close to sleep)
 • I also get a real jolt sensation like I've fallen a long distance
AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 04/02/2021 21:20

@JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows yep! Flight or flight reflex

Grapefruity · 04/02/2021 21:24

Absolutely obsessed with this thread! Its taken me hours to get through it all Blush
I haven't seen anyone mention this one. When I'm a passenger in a car and the driver is driving faster than I would like or I think they might not see a hazard, I get jump (not out of the seat obviously) and get weird tingles in my hands and feet. Anyone else?

MonicaGellerBing · 04/02/2021 21:44

@JengaJanga yep all the time! I get the itch and have to go back and re-wipe!

I CANNOT believe needing a poo in a bookshop is a thing!!

I have had this ever since childhood. Bookshops and WHSmiths.

I'm in shock!!
Haha!! Me too - bookshops and libraries - ever since I can remember!!

Whatisthisfuckery · 04/02/2021 21:52

I have hairy big toes. My right big toe is especially tufty.

When I had very long hair I occasionally had to pull a hair out of my bum hole, not just my bum crack.

I get terrible fanny ache during my period.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 04/02/2021 21:54

@abcyz magnesium is your friend, can also be low iron

MonicaGellerBing · 04/02/2021 21:55

@PolarnOPirate what is it that you're referring to? I've tried to find the post you're replying to that @AnotherSoddingWalk has written but can't find her post!

ohhhhhyes · 04/02/2021 21:56

@hauntedvagina

Every so often I wake up to a two / three inch hair growing out of the middle of my forehead.

I wear make up daily and have a good skin care routine so I'd notice it if it had been growing for a while or had been lurking under a spot.

I also get the unicorn hair
juneo63 · 04/02/2021 21:57

Yes I did, all 4 times!!
My daughter is a midwife and said it happens to nearly every mum, it's normal and nothing to worry about, the midwives are used to it, it's not a problem 😁

I get this whenever I see anyone hurt themselves, like on You've Been Framed etc. A momentary aching pain in my calves.
Yes I get it in my calves too. Strangely it’s mainly when I see people walking or running bare footed on hard surfaces. My calves have a strange achey tingly sensation.

ostravagirl · 04/02/2021 22:19

I always take a tampon out when i have my period and need to poo. I managed to push it out in the past so now I’m not taking any risk!

Charliecatpaws · 04/02/2021 22:22

My mind has been opened by this thread

Lillygolightly · 04/02/2021 22:22

If I am sleeping and get woken it’s like there was music playing in my head. So when I first wake the music is quiet loud but as I come round it fades into the background. I can never hear it long enough to work out the song but it’s always the same one, a woman’s soft voice singing but like it’s off in the distance and I can never make out the words/lyrics.

I am not yet 40 but have some grey pubes, a few grey eyebrow hairs and a solitary grey eyelash.

Sad nipple syndrome - so glad to read this actually as have always had this. It made breastfeeding my eldest a nightmare. Strangely didn’t have any problems breastfeeding my youngest, but still have the sad nipple thing. Also have the same with my belly button.

Taking my bra off for bed OMG the itch where the strap has been is so annoying and difficult to reach but almost orgasmic to scratch.

Javelin arse - a terrible thing which strikes me frequently. It’s so embarrassing and completely floors me for those few seconds.

Sympathy pains - yes to these too, gives me an awful pain in my nethers and then a restless feeling after.

Orgasm - sometimes so intense feels like me legs are literally fizzing. On the build up can cause horrendous cramp in my leg or hip and it’s so intense any fun I was having fizzles out. I also can’t pee for a good while after.

Labour poop - 3 births, only happened once.

Impending doom - occasionally I will have a day where I just can’t settle, feel out of sorts and just not at all right. No rhyme or reason to it just feel like something awful is happening and the only way to get rid of it is to go to bed.

Weird throat itch - I sometimes get this urge to itch the very back of my throat but obviously can’t itch there. The only way to satisfy the itch is to drink and swallow in this strange way which somehow seems to scratch the itch.

Need to pee - I have to pee before going to bed several times otherwise I can’t sleep. I also have to pee before leaving the house, and several times if I know it will be a long journey. So frustrating, DH will be like you need to pee again, you literally just went!!!

LongDistanceClaret · 04/02/2021 22:28

If you sleep with your mouth open do you ever get that weird white stuff on your front teeth? Like gellified saliva Confused

StanfordPines · 04/02/2021 22:28

@Sporranrummager

Have name changed for this ........

Anyone else orgasm in their sleep?
Anyone else orgasm while giving birth?

Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes

I’ve not given birth but I used to have orgasms in my sleep all the time. Not for a few years now though.

@Grapefruity, yes, is that adrenaline? I also can’t stop myself from braking hard with both feet (on the passenger side Grin)

Haffiana · 04/02/2021 22:34

I remember as a teenager back in the 1970s that people were discussing female ejaculation. How is it possible that anyone still doubts that it is a Thing?

My DH says that heights and watching people get hurt makes his balls contract. He says it happens to most blokes so I reckon the fanny clench is just the same thing!

ShinyBeans · 04/02/2021 22:43

@NanuNanuM

Sometimes I remember an event from the past and I physically inhale with the shame of it. Nothing bad, just mortifying things where I was a knob. They bring me physical pain.

I do this!!! And sometimes I talk out loud as if it distracts the thoughts

Oh my goodness, I thought I was the only person who talks out loud to distract myself from unwanted memories! DH thinks I have a form of tourettes.
THEDEACON · 04/02/2021 22:44

@vivariumvivaroumsvivaria I lactated for ten years after a miscarriage without a high prolactin level Pity there's no call for wetnurses these days I could have had a second career

Hairsonyourchest · 04/02/2021 22:47

I have skim read this thread and there’s not really been much exploration of my menopausal body weirdness.

Chest hairs! Not nipple hairs but over the sternum and pectorals. Someone mentioned PCOS upthread but I don’t believe I’ve got that.

It’s perfectly acceptable in my group of friends to talk about our chin hairs but nobody ever mentions chest hairs developing. Does anyone else want to admit to them or is it just me?

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 04/02/2021 22:55

PeaPodBurgundy upthread mentioned she's in her 30s and has chest hairs, iirc.
