Stuff you think must happen to other people - but can't risk asking?

IMissFrance · 03/02/2021 11:21

Anyone else have stuff happen to you that must happen to others.

But you can't really ask because what if they say "NO! How weird!" And then you can never talk to that person again. Wink

So I'm bringing it to the anonymity of Mumsnet.

I'd love to hear other peoples. And will start off.

  • whenever I wash my hair in the shower (I have long hair) loose hairs wash down my back and end up in my bum crack. End of my shower I have to check there's no hair left.

I can't be alone in this grossness! (Or can I)

Last few years as I drop off to sleep I am startled awake by a falling feeling as in off a tall building, it is horrible and scares me awake every time. I am scared of heights which makes it worse I think.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 04/02/2021 15:17

@Binkybix

Not finished the thread yet. But:

I also grow eyelashes in the corner of my eyes. I have to pluck them out. I’ve not met anyone else that does that

Me too!! Only other person I’ve ever found

Several people mention it on this thread. I have to remove DH's because they do this which is horrid as he flinches even with eye-drops so it's worse with tweezers.
HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 04/02/2021 15:30

I've been getting the 'choke on your own spit down the wrong way' thing during orgasm sometimes this last year or so, it's excruciating. Not a fan.

@TastyTicklemore I got the (sensibly) standard warning before going water skiing to be sure to wear neoprene pants not swimmies. You can get badly hurt by water pressure, yes.

BlowDryRat · 04/02/2021 15:37

Physical squirming pain at the sudden memory of my own awfulness - yes

Pooing in labour - don't know but probably

Fanny storing water - only after doing breaststroke

Terrible-smelling farts during my period - yes

3rdNamechange · 04/02/2021 15:48

@Sporranrummager

Have name changed for this ........

Anyone else orgasm in their sleep?
Anyone else orgasm while giving birth?

Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes

Sleep yes , giving birth NO !! 😬
Baublebox · 04/02/2021 15:58

Does anyone else see sound?
If I am really tired or falling asleep and their is a noise, I see it as a flash of light.

I assumed that everyone did until dh gave me this face Confused
I seem to have a mild form of synesthesia so I wonder whether they are linked.

@HadEnoughOfBears
@MisiSam

I get this pain, it's just like someone shoved a javelin up there! My doctor said that he had never met a woman who experiences that pain, which was an odd thing to say....

Wouldn't be like a doctor to dismiss something a woman told him 🙈

Honestly though, I went to see a comedian (maybe John Bishop?) who mentioned it in front of a packed theatre and nearly everyone there knew what he was talking about.

tinylittleyou · 04/02/2021 16:20

Health things I can think of- episiotomy scar (9 years old now) always feel painful and achey during the first few days of my period. Fine the rest of the time though. Have never found anything official online about this being a ‘thing’

Also when period pains are bad I feel it in my legs. When I had a coil inserted the cramps you get after were in my legs too but the nurses looked at me like i was crazy and said that wasn’t possible

ThenCatoJumpedOut · 04/02/2021 16:37

@justasking111 that is very normal

That is why it is called falling asleep, it’s a falling feeling Grin

You can see it in newborns when they fall asleep and suddenly flail their arms and wake startled

You can swaddle babies, not sure it works for adults Wink

Esspee · 04/02/2021 16:45

Well that’s four or five of us who have admitted to female ejaculation. Is it this rare?
I know when it first happened to me I tried to bring the subject up with friends but in every case they thought I was speaking about orgasm. I tried on mumsnet before and again everyone assumed I was referring to orgasm. Why is it not more widely known about?
For me it only happens during the most uninhibited orgasm and very rarely. I would love to be able to get that aroused on my own as current and final OH will never help me achieve it and it makes me sad to think that I’ll never again reach that peak.

Anybody have any advice on this?

SciFiScream · 04/02/2021 16:45

@Astella22

Female ejaculation - yes

Does anyone else orgasm while running?? It sounds great but I can assure u it’s not

Not while running but sometimes while doing a press up. (Not the normal press-up the one where your arms are in a different place) thankfully I can feel it building so I stop doing press-ups. I just pretend i can't do it. It's embarrassing when it's in a class.
justasking111 · 04/02/2021 16:56

Giving birth am I weird, first stage, usual pain, pain relief, second stage when the urge to push comes, zero pain I go to a place in my head where I am calm without pain semi hypnotic I suppose I just talk in my head to baby urging them onward. Once they are born I am back to normal can hear the world, talk to people. And the discomfort returns. The second stage lasted 35 minutes every time from 4cm dilated to baby arriving. This with all three of my pregnancies.

SingleHandSue · 04/02/2021 17:07

This is so true!

Stuff you think must happen to other people - but can't risk asking?
SciFiScream · 04/02/2021 17:14

I get the choke on own saliva and accidental spitting things. My dentist always comments on how much saliva I produce. He's never seen anything like it.

I also get the fizzy neck! Only when I'm in bed about to sleep. I imagine it's my brain juice rushing around. Grin

JWrecks · 04/02/2021 17:22

This only started for me with the bastard peri menopause, but it's as if my bladder has eyes and can see the toilet. Everything is fine until my actual eyes encounter a toilet, then my bladder seems to assume we're already ON that toilet, and I have to fight her tooth and nail to wait just a few more seconds.

I will not lie to you, reader. Sometimes I lose that fight. Angry

Ilovecandlez · 04/02/2021 17:24

This is weird. Both times about a week before I found out I was pregnant, I had a feeling like I’d been kicked in the back. The shock made me sit down. This sounds ridiculous but I thought it could be the egg implanting. Never felt this feeling before, only just before I found out I was expecting. When it happened the second time I knew immediately I was pregnant

Nellieee · 04/02/2021 17:25

@BobbinThreadbare123

I have read this entire thread and enjoyed it a lot - I feel a lot better about my oddnesses! I will add: Anyone get a stretchy/fizzy feeling in their bladder/vag region when they're changing a duvet? I assume it's a nerve thing as I stretch my arms out to shake the cover down the quilt. Anyone get little filaments growing out of their face that look like glass? They're not sebaceous fils/blackheads. I think they're hairs, but weird.
Omg!! I get those weird glassy threads on my hips and boobs. Know EXACTLY what you mean. Can you pull yours out without any resistance? They sort of just slide out?
AOwlAOwlAOwl · 04/02/2021 17:26

When I'm really tired and about to drop off I often dream that I trip over/fall over something and then jerk myself awake trying to stick my leg out to save myself.

Haas19 · 04/02/2021 17:27

I cut mine and my children’s nails at the back door 😆 I hate the thought of being barefooted and stepping on a fingernail or a toe nail 😂🤣

That weird whistle you get in your nostril just as you try to fall asleep. Just like a little pan pipe player in there!

I saw it on Twitter, it really made me laugh.

anonimum · 04/02/2021 17:31

No but I did wee.

MaddieElla · 04/02/2021 17:31

Sometimes when I drink water, I smell faeces. Confused
