What for?! Why not just put it in the sink or dishwasher or was it then and there? I don’t understand tea bag rests either

Bearnecessity · 31/12/2020 22:01

Beam me up.....please.....beam me up.....

@MistleTOEboughski

Just lick it and put it back in the drawer.

Why do you need one? Confused

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 31/12/2020 22:28

Just use a clean desert spoon!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 31/12/2020 22:29

Or even a dessert spoon although a desert spoon would stay drier

DelphineWalsh · 31/12/2020 23:10

This is what Gu pots are for isn't it?

@Sevensilverrings

Hi! I’m a potter, if you like I can make you one like that? It would take me five minutes at the end of a batch of other things. Don’t want paid for it, but realistically, now my kids are all of school, your looking at three or four weeks from now before I get it twice through kiln. Happy to spread some cheer in these times. Let me know if you want it!
I'm also a bit baffled at the idea of a teaspoon rest but each to their own!!

This has been my favourite post of the day though, what a lovely offer I hope op accepts!

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 31/12/2020 23:49

@Sevensilverrings oh my goodness yes please! And I wouldn't dream of not paying you! Unless I can crochet something for you in return?
And for all of you questioning why I need a teaspoon rest in my life, heathens the lot of you!!!

Thank you to everyone's who's made suggestions, I do appreciate it, but you're all missing the point. The teaspoon in my OP is not just resting, is also getting a hug. A hug! And that's what I want for my hardworking teaspoons. Happy New Year everyone!!

@PeaceLoveAndCandy & @Sevensilverrings
This is why I love mumsnet , what a great way to start the new year

Sevensilverrings · 01/01/2021 10:15

PeaceLoveAndCandy, excellent!
If you have colours you’d particularly like let me know....also is it to fit a ‘traditional’ size teaspoon, or do you want it to also accommodate slightly chunkier spoons? I can do the little twirl with some melted glass in the centre, I think you’d like that probably, but do say if you want a particular colour and I’ll see what I have.
Chuffed this is my first thought on waking up to a NY! Much better than all the real world problems that will hit soon enough!
No payment needed, pay it forward if you like, make a square for a Woolly Hug blanket!

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 01/01/2021 10:28

@Sevensilverrings, this is hands down the best thing that's happened to me in 2020, and what a way to start 2021!!! I crochet and knit for a neonatal unit at a London hospital, so will definitely pay it forward!
The glass idea is sensational, and colour-wise, I'll be happy with whatever you choose, but I do love the turquoise, or an unapologetic orange, if you happen to have it. And yes, it is just for traditional teaspoons, the other spoons will have to rest in the cold for now!! Flowers

This thread has made me so happy. Firstly a gorgeous "thing" I didn't know I needed until I saw it 😂, and in my favourite colour. Then a wonderfully kind offer from a talented person with no ulterior motive other than to help.
2021 is off to a great start Smile

Sevensilverrings · 01/01/2021 10:36

Fabulous! Definitely have turquoise, it’s my favourite colour.
Lovely that you knit for the unit. (My little girl received a very small blanket from the GOSH Nicu, which we absolutely treasure, so I can tell you first hand how valued your donations are)!

madcatladyforever · 01/01/2021 10:38

I bought mind from a garden centre. But you can get them anywhere, Lakeland plastics etsy etc.

absolutely this ^^

and I so understand this sentiment

The teaspoon in my OP is not just resting, is also getting a hug

and while I'm at it - is anyone else thinking that sevensilverrings could fill a big gap in the teaspoon rest market here ?

ODFOx · 01/01/2021 11:00

Thank you for this lovely thread. My first smile of the New Year!

Absolutely yes to this! There's definitely a need for because why not gorgeousness out there.
TheRealMrsJamieFraser gets it.

I am bloody loving it that the first mn buying thread I’ve seen was about teaspoon rests and that a potter popped up to offer services. In honour and solidarity I am breaking out my chopstick rests later. HNY all.
