This thread has given me a hug when I needed it.

But what are yarn bowls?

VonWeasel · 23/02/2021 05:14

What a wonderful thread to have come across. It has made me so happy Smile

NewAndImprovedNorks · 23/02/2021 05:47

I Bloody love Mumsnet

Whatamesssss · 23/02/2021 06:52

I had been looking for a teaspoon rest and gave up as they were all hideous.

These are a thing of beauty @Sevensilverrings Also want to be in the queue. The glass ones are stunning.

I too have the sugary mess left on the side and need these in my life. Also a tablespoon one would be great too.

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 23/02/2021 07:15

@PeaceLoveAndCandy

My whole family feels hugged....
What a gorgeous way of expressing your thanks OP.

@Sevensilverrings you are so talented and so kind. Bloody well done.

PeachPiePip · 23/02/2021 07:25

Teaspoons get used and then washed or put in the dishwasher or placed on the counter. If it’s the latter, then any splash of liquid left on the counter gets wiped up.

What’s the purpose of a teaspoon rest? It must be the most unnecessary kitchen item invented 🤔

PeachPiePip · 23/02/2021 07:28

Posted before finishing the thread. That’s so kind of Seven to make something for OP 🌟

Etinox · 23/02/2021 07:29

Beautiful- please set up shop and let us know when you do Flowers

Hepsie · 23/02/2021 07:41

What a fabulous thread.

SpeakingFranglais · 23/02/2021 07:43

Another that has never, ever been unable to understand the need for such a thing. In effect, it’s just an excuse to keep using a dirty teaspoon for your next cuppa.

And don’t get me started on the teabag tidy!

Anthilda · 23/02/2021 07:51

@PeachPiePip
I use one if these to keep the spoon off the bench where my kids make toast.
Our kettle and toast are close together and if I was to rest my teaspoon on the bench, even if it had been wiped down, I could risk being glutened by a stray breadcrumb Wink

DavidsSchitt · 23/02/2021 07:55

Well, what a lovely thread 💜

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 23/02/2021 07:58

Might have just shed a tear. I did not know about spoon rests but now I absolutely have to have one in my life!

Beautiful thread x

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 23/02/2021 08:00

Best thread ever, now i’m keeping an eye out for the Etsy shop!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 23/02/2021 08:01

How beautiful.

I was meant to go to Venice last year but - COVID.

I was keen to revisit the Murano glass factory shop for a soap dish.

Really beautiful! Op, can we see some of your crochet? Just for the full lovely, huggy, reciprocal crafty experience?!

YowMyHead · 23/02/2021 08:39

I will be reading the full thread later as its clearly an emotional journey...

Meanwhile, can I suggest this process:

  • buy a pud from pots & co (from Sainsbury's, Waitrose etc) - various flavours come in different colour pots to co-ordinate with your kitchen

www.potsandco.com/lemon-lime-possett

Eat said pudding (force yourself) strictly to check that your teaspoon is a good fit Grin

Instead of bleaching tea spoon rest, repeat this process every couple of months to replace spoon rest/build up a charming selection of ramekins

billybear · 23/02/2021 08:42

easy to find b a m . wilko etc very cheap to buy

muddyford · 23/02/2021 08:58

I had an acquaintance many years ago who had teabag tongs. She lifted the teabags out of the teapot with them. Everyone I know empties the pot in the sink!

prettybird · 23/02/2021 09:08

What beautiful pieces Smile

Thanks and Star to Sevensilverrings

I too would love a link to the Etsy shop when it is eventually set up.

Our used teaspoons go into wee teaspoon cups (so stand upright) that my aunt, who used to be a potter, made and decorated.

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 23/02/2021 09:33

When I saw this in Active I had to click to see how a thread about spoonrests with only 200 or so posts was in Classics. I now understand entirely! Only on MN Grin

This really is such a wonderful thread. I'm so glad your spoons finally have their beautiful hugs Op (small spoonrests are no longer called spoonrests in my mind. They are spoonhugs forever more).

@Sevensilverrings you are incredibly talented ! I'd happily buy from your Etsy shop too, and I can think of plenty of people that would also treasure a gorgeous spoonhug.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/02/2021 10:10

This is a lovely thread! We drink so much tea in this house that a spoon stand is essential, then we have a separate plate for used teabags to dry out on before they go in the kitchen waste caddy. (Otherwise, leakage!)

RinderTinderNotRinderGrinder · 23/02/2021 10:20

There aren’t many perfect threads but this is one of them. What a perfect display of generosity of spirit and the importance of creativity to all of us at the moment.

It seems such a small thing but it’s really not. I never thought I’d find meaning in a teaspoon rest

Zandathepanda · 23/02/2021 10:28

Love the fact you ended up with the whole family of them - I wouldn’t have been able to choose either!
Why am I another with a tear in her eye?! What softies we have all become Grin
