I had been looking for a teaspoon rest and gave up as they were all hideous.

These are a thing of beauty @Sevensilverrings Also want to be in the queue. The glass ones are stunning.

I too have the sugary mess left on the side and need these in my life. Also a tablespoon one would be great too.

@PeaceLoveAndCandy

My whole family feels hugged....

What a gorgeous way of expressing your thanks OP.

@Sevensilverrings you are so talented and so kind. Bloody well done.

Teaspoons get used and then washed or put in the dishwasher or placed on the counter. If it’s the latter, then any splash of liquid left on the counter gets wiped up.

What’s the purpose of a teaspoon rest? It must be the most unnecessary kitchen item invented 🤔

Posted before finishing the thread. That’s so kind of Seven to make something for OP 🌟

Another that has never, ever been unable to understand the need for such a thing. In effect, it’s just an excuse to keep using a dirty teaspoon for your next cuppa.

And don’t get me started on the teabag tidy!

@PeachPiePip
I use one if these to keep the spoon off the bench where my kids make toast.
Our kettle and toast are close together and if I was to rest my teaspoon on the bench, even if it had been wiped down, I could risk being glutened by a stray breadcrumb Wink

How beautiful.

I was meant to go to Venice last year but - COVID.

I was keen to revisit the Murano glass factory shop for a soap dish.

I will be reading the full thread later as its clearly an emotional journey...

Meanwhile, can I suggest this process:

  • buy a pud from pots & co (from Sainsbury's, Waitrose etc) - various flavours come in different colour pots to co-ordinate with your kitchen

www.potsandco.com/lemon-lime-possett

Eat said pudding (force yourself) strictly to check that your teaspoon is a good fit Grin

Instead of bleaching tea spoon rest, repeat this process every couple of months to replace spoon rest/build up a charming selection of ramekins

I had an acquaintance many years ago who had teabag tongs. She lifted the teabags out of the teapot with them. Everyone I know empties the pot in the sink!

What beautiful pieces  Smile

Thanks and Star to Sevensilverrings

I too would love a link to the Etsy shop when it is eventually set up.

Our used teaspoons go into wee teaspoon cups (so stand upright) that my aunt, who used to be a potter, made and decorated.

When I saw this in Active I had to click to see how a thread about spoonrests with only 200 or so posts was in Classics. I now understand entirely! Only on MN Grin

This really is such a wonderful thread. I'm so glad your spoons finally have their beautiful hugs Op (small spoonrests are no longer called spoonrests in my mind. They are spoonhugs forever more).

@Sevensilverrings you are incredibly talented ! I'd happily buy from your Etsy shop too, and I can think of plenty of people that would also treasure a gorgeous spoonhug.

This is a lovely thread! We drink so much tea in this house that a spoon stand is essential, then we have a separate plate for used teabags to dry out on before they go in the kitchen waste caddy. (Otherwise, leakage!)

There aren’t many perfect threads but this is one of them. What a perfect display of generosity of spirit and the importance of creativity to all of us at the moment.

It seems such a small thing but it’s really not. I never thought I’d find meaning in a teaspoon rest

Zandathepanda · 23/02/2021 10:28

Love the fact you ended up with the whole family of them - I wouldn’t have been able to choose either!
Why am I another with a tear in her eye?! What softies we have all become Grin
