To realise I like old lady things

I bought some Yardley perfume for my grandmother and haven't been able to give it to her due to lockdown. I really like it and am going to buy some for me.
Also, I've started looking at those pointy cross-your hearty bras and thinking they look comfy and I quite like the shape, without having to cope with underwires (which I hate).
I'm 37, not 73. Are there any other old lady things I might like please?

Lavender essential oil
Crocheted blankets on the back of the sofa
Visiting national trust properties and their cafes.
A nice cup of tea from a teapot
Laura Ashley décor.
I love old lady stuff.

I'm 43.

I love my electric blanket.
I also love a proper granny blouse, I have a lovely one I picked up in a charity shop complete with pin tucks. I wear it with a brooch

I love all these things, but also it’s making me a bit sad that they’re ‘old lady things’ just because they’re comfortable. Men wear comfy pants every day without anyone telling them they’re old man pants. I’ve got 2, almost 3, girls and I’ll be telling them to stay free from the tyranny of uncomfortable bras forever.

Caldey Island lavender is the best room spray/light perfume ever.

Also here for little bags of herbs in drawers and cupboards, floral wallpaper to line them.

I'm 42 and love wearing my apron for cleaning and cooking, Agatha Christie books, jigsaw puzzles, blankets, hot water bottles and visiting the library.

I also love loud house music, going clubbing, my peloton bike, Topshop and Yoga.

Nothing wrong with embracing your old lady tendencies but don't let them define you 😉

I really love this answer and agree! I'm 40 and don't let anything define me either. I'm a mixed bag!

Love Hotter shoes, but ashamed of the Hotter label that's often visible: although some of their styles are far too old lady even for old ladies.
Haven't yet sunk to the depths of one of those fleeces with wolves on.

Lavender - tick. Agatha Christie - tick. HWB - tick. Midsommer Murders -tick. Recently bought some M&S rosewater cologne - a new low.

I find massive pants really annoying though - so maybe there's still hope? Wink

I put Mat Monroe on the other day at work. I’m 55, it seems only yesterday I was listening to Duran Duran.

I'm 45.
The best bit of an art gallery visit is the cup of tea and sit-down in the cafe afterwards.
I love rose creams and violet creams.
I'm prone to referring to 'that nice David Olusoga'.
I love watching Monty Don tramping round lovely gardens around
the world.
I don't understand how you use Instagram.

I want a proper tea set
Over lockdown I've semi enjoyed some gardening-at least the results anyway.
I've done a lot of baking lately and made my kids afternoon tea on a 3 tier thingy twice now.
I've started being less bored with longer explanations even when the subject matter is tedious (could just be lockdown though)
I made my own elderflower gin then an elderflower and lemon drizzle cake.
I stopped wearing massive pants approx 3 years after my last child. (she's almost 4). I've returned to frilly things and feel 10 years younger. I couldn't throw them all away though, I kept a couple of pairs.

I can't stand jigsaw puzzles though.

I like tea time, with tea in a pot and a sandwich and a little cake like a cherry bakewell. Not a full on high tea. Just maybe a peeled satsuma, a ginger nut, and a nice sit down. It's actually really good and I do it most days. Also sardines on toast by the fire like I'm in a Noel Streatfeild book.

Massive pants, vests. Also Go Walk shoes, yes, very comfortable. I do indeed go walking in them. Bars of soap, much better actually. Nivea blue cream. Hot water bottle in winter.

I am currently contemplating getting a granny trolley for going shopping with. My friend has one and it's actually clearly the right thing. Not sure why I haven't always had one.
