To realise I like old lady things

I bought some Yardley perfume for my grandmother and haven't been able to give it to her due to lockdown. I really like it and am going to buy some for me.
Also, I've started looking at those pointy cross-your hearty bras and thinking they look comfy and I quite like the shape, without having to cope with underwires (which I hate).
I'm 37, not 73. Are there any other old lady things I might like please?

Big pant went into them years ago it’s comfort now.

SerendipitySunshine · 20/06/2020 17:49

I took my old lady pillow on holiday. We only had one small suitcase each and it took up half of mine but it was worth it!

AiryFairyMum · 20/06/2020 17:51

Mmmm sherry!

managedmis · 20/06/2020 17:54

Just maybe a peeled satsuma, a ginger nut, and a nice sit down.

^

Amen to that Grin

Boredbumhead · 20/06/2020 17:55

Port or a gin too.

SierraOscar · 20/06/2020 18:02

I love hotter shoes as they accommodate my wife clown feet. I'm 34 and I don't give a damn, I've done my time wearing unsuitable footwear, people spend less time in prison for murder.

I also like garden centres, and good jumble sale and teapots.

LOLeater · 20/06/2020 18:03

Love an electric blanket.
Talc
A slip (no pants revealed)
Slippers
I keep string, plastic bags, bits of envelopes to write notes on and I have a button box.
I tend to say things like “my dear”
I like washing out early as the morning is the best bit of the day.
Hotter shoes
Floral china
Small cereal bowls and side plates
Thank you letters
Notelets
A nice fruit scone
A nice sit down
A nice sherry

I like my garden too.
I’m 52 and I am my own grandmother 👵🏻

National Trust gift shops.

BestIsWest · 20/06/2020 18:11

I’m always delighted to receive toiletries from the M&S Floral Collection.

Stripesgalore · 20/06/2020 18:12

Yes to scrapbooking. It is the best.

Straysocks · 20/06/2020 18:15

All, all, all of the above. And my bed jacket. I LOVE my bed jacket.

EasyLifer · 20/06/2020 18:16

I've just noticed this is style and beauty! I used to love shopping for clothes, shoes and make up. Now I much prefer a garden centre or a rummage through the books in a charity shop.

LuluJakey1 · 20/06/2020 18:17

Ponds' Cold Cream
Pearls
Bought a small (about 12 inch square) heated blanket for a bad back I had, am now addicted to it and sigh with pleasure when it warms up. I cuddle it.
Big cotton pants from Sloggi
Tea shops with fresh scones and cake
Gardening
Daily walk
Cats
M and S control pants - look like beige cycling shorts
Custard tarts and Bakewell tart
Doing the crossword
Bake-off, Sewing Bee, This Old House, Fake or Fortune
Alan Bennett
Cups of tea, especially in bed in the morning
Toasted: bread, teacake, crumpets, potato cakes, soda farls, Welsh cakes.

LuluJakey1 · 20/06/2020 18:18

Oooh yes whoever said National Trust shops.

LuluJakey1 · 20/06/2020 18:20

Jams
Lemon Curd
Growing plums and apples and tomatoes
A nice biscuit - current favourite is a Nairns stem ginger oat biscuit.

Standrewsschool · 20/06/2020 18:22

Sherry - overdue a revival
Loose leaf tea
Mug of cocoa
Tea-cakes

mothtoaflame · 20/06/2020 18:24

Ooh and I forgot to mention the superior quality of loose leaf tea in fine bone china.

Skibideebapbapbap · 20/06/2020 18:24

Lavender
Huge knickers
Keeping a bar of dark chocolate for ages and having one square at a time
Earl grey tea

VictoriaBun · 20/06/2020 18:25

There is nothing like a nicely gathered at the front nightie with a couple of buttons going down it.

Skibideebapbapbap · 20/06/2020 18:25

Oh and watching A Place In The Sun back to back for hours

CaptainPovey · 20/06/2020 18:27

@Sirthanksalot

This made me laugh. Have often thought those bras look comfy. I fall asleep to PG Wodehouse audiobooks
So do I, along with Miss Marple and Poirot

I love them all
