Get on fine with house next door. Kids play etc.

About a year ago, her sister started coming to visit every single day. Weekends too. Fine. None of my business.

So we both have double drives and both have two cars. DH also has a motorbike but there’s space to keep it on our drive.

I work from home so I’m out to drop the dc to school then pretty much back for the whole morning. DH is gone in his car from maybe 7am. Motorbike stays on drive until weekends really.

So next door’s sister has a big 7-seater. But she’s taken to partially blocking our drive with it so next door’s car can get in and out.

So she parks up in the morning, partially blocks my drive. And then sometimes they’ll head out in next door’s car and my drive will be blocked.

I can (with ball-achey manoeuvring) get my car on. But if anyone was to visit, or DH was to come home, they couldn’t park on the drive. And they can’t park in front of my house without then blocking other next door’s.

It gives me the fucking rage! It’s so inconsiderate! I’ve said it to next door’s and her answer has been to knock in if I ever need her to move.

DH is so laid back he’s horizontal so he doesn’t see it as a big deal. But it’s just so selfish and irritating.

I’ve come back and parked up right behind her, as in touching the bumper, so I haven’t blocked other next door’s.

WIBU to roll the motorbike out and block her car?? If I put it sideways it won’t block the drive I don’t think.

I hope I’m explaining properly. I need to try to figure out how to post a diagram!

Oh OP this is fantastic. I just read the full thing, off work ill today and procrastinating majorly on things I do need to do as I’m poorly! Tried explaining this thread to DH. Told him I have at least taken comfort that lots of you also have such laid-back-they-might-be-dead DHs. I don’t feel so alone now in being the only one in this house who would get myself into a war about these issues!!

Honestly what is with these horizontal men?!!

Is there no pride left? No desire to protect one’s castle? No blood lust burning through their veins???

*ok. Have definitely over imbibed. Of a Wednesday, no less.

I hope the wine you chose is that Great Hungarian red - Bull's Blood, Captain! Grin

(I don't suggest you drink her actual blood as actual blood is an emetic if consumed in the sort of quantities you seem to be necking in your triumph*.)

*Not the car - the emotional state.

All very much “just keep the peace” with my DH. NO! I want blood I tell you, BLOOD!!
Although *touch wood, we have been lucky with neighbours here so far. I do get very ragey when the neighbours with a big white van think it’s okay to park right outside our house and unload kids etc completely blocking our drive. Admittedly has only been fleeting so far but I do lots of curtain twitching and “what if I need to go OUT” until they’re gone!

Had to delurk ohcaptain you are a total ledge. I love an Irish MN thread as a Norn Iron expat in Engerland and mixed with CF parking, this has been perfect 🇨🇮 🚗 ☃️

If I run out of the vino, @SchadenfreudePersonified we may start sacrificing the cattle. Anything is possible now. All bets are off. The rules have been left behind.

I'll be joyriding with Olaf in the tractor by midnight!

Slainte @gingercat02! Get it down ya!

They are being completely unreasonable. We had visitors last week, when I came home from work I could park blocking our drive - no problem for us as I will be first out. If I parked there it wouldn't block my neighbours drive at all but with cars parked across the street I know it would be difficult for her to park there so I didnt, I parked 30 sec walk up the street where noone parks. However the fact she parks making it incredibly difficult for you shows she doesnt think like me so you would probably have to act unreasonably to get her to stop.

You'll get even less work done tomorrow than today, what with yon hangover. (I've also had wine which makes my hidden Norn Irishness reappear)

I see you more as a modern day Queen Maedbh, that woman took no shit from anyone and it involved cattle raiding. She was from Connacht, although she was probably a Rossie!

Yes, we definitely need a new thread (I've also consumed wine. I'm also feeling emotional. Not planning on a speech though).

Well done on the Classics move. And, as hilarious and inventive as the future Garda toys are, I hope the Bull has been well and truly put in her place.
