It’s a parking one!

Get on fine with house next door. Kids play etc.

About a year ago, her sister started coming to visit every single day. Weekends too. Fine. None of my business.

So we both have double drives and both have two cars. DH also has a motorbike but there’s space to keep it on our drive.

I work from home so I’m out to drop the dc to school then pretty much back for the whole morning. DH is gone in his car from maybe 7am. Motorbike stays on drive until weekends really.

So next door’s sister has a big 7-seater. But she’s taken to partially blocking our drive with it so next door’s car can get in and out.

So she parks up in the morning, partially blocks my drive. And then sometimes they’ll head out in next door’s car and my drive will be blocked.

I can (with ball-achey manoeuvring) get my car on. But if anyone was to visit, or DH was to come home, they couldn’t park on the drive. And they can’t park in front of my house without then blocking other next door’s.

It gives me the fucking rage! It’s so inconsiderate! I’ve said it to next door’s and her answer has been to knock in if I ever need her to move.

DH is so laid back he’s horizontal so he doesn’t see it as a big deal. But it’s just so selfish and irritating.

I’ve come back and parked up right behind her, as in touching the bumper, so I haven’t blocked other next door’s.

WIBU to roll the motorbike out and block her car?? If I put it sideways it won’t block the drive I don’t think.

I hope I’m explaining properly. I need to try to figure out how to post a diagram!

@Bluetrews25

Me too! I'm reading the latest Marian Keyes & (briefly) hoped it was her Blush

itsabitofamess · 03/03/2020 13:59

Fuck me op I've just read the whole thing in one go! Well done on putting bull in her place. This is the best parking thread I've ever read!

Sickofrain · 03/03/2020 14:01

Awesome OP, well done!

WhatchaMaCalllit · 03/03/2020 14:03

@OhCaptain Oh Captain And The Gobshite Of Fire!
Well, it's got a certain ring to it....don't you think???

As for being late for lunch...can't you just apparate there or use the floo powder network...would have saved a lot of hassle yesterday going to collect the kids from school...
Poof! you're gone...
Poof! you're back again....

tazzy73 · 03/03/2020 14:04

OhCaptain,

Extra wheelie bins here in Leinster if needed!

She should be shot with balls of her own shite!

Happy parking,

Taz.

OhCaptain · 03/03/2020 14:16

I’m not Marian Keyes Sad

I’m just a lowly little nobody with the maturity levels of a baby hamster, a rapidly withering cucumber penis, a couple of oversized cuddly toys, and (I’ve now discovered) an obscene amount of hi-vis vests!

Not sure how Rex could issue a ticket with those short arms though....

WhatICallMyUsername · 03/03/2020 14:25

Maybe they go out in the Bull's car because it's fancier, it being a giant 7 seater and all that? Or because she is the Bull after all she probably likes the 'power' of driving, I've met people like that before!

@twixes they don't go out in Bull's 7 seater, that's what is blocking OPs drive! She arrives in it and then leaves it wherever she feels like and they go out in the neighbours car!

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 03/03/2020 14:33

This thread is, quite simply, a joy. Thank you OhCaptain 💐

2020newme · 03/03/2020 14:43

Another HUGE Marion Keyes fan here. I do imagine you as one of the Walsh sisters OP. Grin

Fabulous writing style.

OlafIntoTheWest · 03/03/2020 14:45

I live in Connaught and told DD to look out for a wheelie bin fort on her way to work this morning :)

I got distracted and never got round to explaining why!

Perfectly adult and mature behaviour on your part OP

MondayTuesdayWednesday · 03/03/2020 14:50

You've made your point now to both your neighbour and her sister and rightly so.

I would just take the rubbish and olaf in now as your point is made and this is just getting childish.

I think you handled it well by speaking to your neighbour and remaining on good terms but this childishness/pettiness is not going to help anything.

Twixes · 03/03/2020 14:52

@WhatICallMyUsername misses the point of the whole thread. Oh yeah! How stupid of me. Well maybe the Bull is a brutal driver so they go out in ndn car? Might be why she blocks OhCaptain's drive?? Nahhhh...that's just making excusing for the Bull!

supafish · 03/03/2020 14:53

I'm loving this 😂😂

BruceAndNosh · 03/03/2020 14:59

I would see if Bull understands The Rules of Neighbourly Parking by leaving the space outside your drive empty tomorrow.
Apart from anything else, Olaf and his sidekick prevent you from accessing your drive as much as her car does!

Also I'm sure there are Working Time Directives for soft toys too.

Batqueen · 03/03/2020 15:10

Go Olaf!

Not at all placemarking

TheLoveOfMoney · 03/03/2020 15:19

I totally disagree with MondayTuesdayWednesday. She just doesn't understand the glory of your actions

baubled · 03/03/2020 15:20

Best thread I've ever read

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/03/2020 15:25

Oh dear, a grown-up has arrived to tell us that we're being childish and petty and wildly overinvested in all the shenanigans Hold my Twix and pass me that water pistol, would you?

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 03/03/2020 15:26

@MondayTuesdayWednesday. Is that you NDN?

BruceAndNosh · 03/03/2020 15:27

Leave the space temptingly empty tomorrow... but place Olaf in a prominent position at a front window.
With a cucumber...

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 03/03/2020 15:29

Passes water pistol to LadyMonicaBaddingham.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 03/03/2020 15:34

I see Sister Mary Funsponge has arrived...

OhCaptain · 03/03/2020 15:37

Not sure how Rex could issue a ticket with those short arms though....

Idiotically chose the two creatures who couldn’t possibly stretch their arms enough to apprehend possible parking violators! 🙄

I’m parked outside eldest’s school already because I was at school mum’s, and am watching beady-eyed for possibles offenders. But everyone’s behaving themselves. Sad

It could be because they’re all decent people but my money is on Sgt Olaf’s fearsome reputation and not-quite-fresh cucumber penis.

@MondayTuesdayWednesday I am suitably chastised and will retire the force when I’m home.

I do, however, reserve the right to stick them in my front windows to keep watch on my precious parking.

Because I’m 12.
