My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

OP, nip out now to all the neighbours with notes inviting them to witness the grovelling apology, the moving of the cars and the consequent humiliation of the CFs.

^this ... but invite all the streets neighbours and then start a slow clap as they get in the cars followed by some loud cheering and whistles as they drive away

BUT definitely make sure you get an apology

StripySocksAndDocs · 16/06/2018 08:41

I'm only posting on here just to be on the best parking thread ever.

OP, you, your DH and your neighbour are my heros in the world of CF Parkers.

BewareOfDragons · 16/06/2018 08:48

I think you should actually film the pick up if you can now that I've thought about it.

And do insist upon an apology.

They should be polite if you're filming, because EVERYONE knows what can happen these days if you're not ... social media fame! ... and hopefully deter them from ever even thinking about parking on someone's drive again.

Also, please start a new thread for the pick up ... this one will be full by 10!

wombatron · 16/06/2018 08:50

We can't fill this up! @SharronNeedles needs to come back at 10.03am and update!

Usernameunknown2 · 16/06/2018 08:52

Serves them bloody right. I would ask a neighbour to take your place if you leave before they get there

GoldenButtercup · 16/06/2018 08:54

Quickly hire a skip and put it right where you move your car from. You've kept to your promise and moved your car... 😇

Wellonlyifihaveto · 16/06/2018 09:04

PuppyMonkey · 16/06/2018 09:09

I also think they’ll be there any time from now claiming they misunderstood what you said. It’s a shame you’ll be out and not answering the door till noon OP.Wink

Totally watching for updates!

Frenchiemamax · 16/06/2018 09:14

Move your car but replace it with your DHs car and claim you have no idea who's it is Grin

rainbowstardrops · 16/06/2018 09:20

I honestly can't believe the cheek of some people! Shock
Well played though OP, DH and neighbour!!! Grin

CoraPirbright · 16/06/2018 09:23

And do tell them “if you had just apologised, I would have released you immediately”. Arseholes!!

CanuckBC · 16/06/2018 09:26

Just finished reading. This thread was awesome! It’s 1:30 am here and I am only awake now because my pup woke me up. I now want to stay awake to see what happens... The dilemma.

LokisLover · 16/06/2018 09:30

I think you should make posters in the style of a lost pet ‘have you seen these cars?’ with a little info on their cheekyfuckery and put them on lampposts around the school roads.

OakIsBetterTho · 16/06/2018 09:30

You, your DH and your fucking fabulous neighbour are possibly the best people ever to have featured in a mumsnet thread, you heroes. #notallheroeswearcapes

piefacedClique · 16/06/2018 09:36

I think that red car (neighbour) and pink car (OP) should if possible just move their cars back and forward a little bit so that the CF’s can get out but will have to do a lot of wiggling around to do it! Make it as difficult as possible.... so literally give them an extra few cms each side and then get everyone to stand and watch and cheer when they eventually get out..... you can all whoop if they make a good move and loudly gasp if it looks like they are getting to close! Nothing like a bit of tension and drama on a Saturday morning!

Talkingfrog · 16/06/2018 09:40

Started reading in the night whilst up with dd. Just skipped to the end eagerly waiting for an update. It would be great if the neighbours came out to watch, and the women had to apologise before you moved too.

Cuttingthegrass · 16/06/2018 09:44

Replace with a skip Grin evil and genius

Yamayo · 16/06/2018 09:49

Nearly 10. OP we need a new thread with update.

Did they give an explanation or reason why they thought it was ok to park there?
Can’t believe they didn’t bother apologising.

iamkahleesi · 16/06/2018 10:00

Its 10 o'clock!!

Oddcat · 16/06/2018 10:02

Times up ! Does this mean you can now sell their car on eBay ?

FuzzyCustard · 16/06/2018 10:03

I think they'll show up and 10.30, hoping you'll have moved the car and gone out, so they don't have to face you. Or apologise.
