My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

god this thread is satisfying

WheelyCote · 15/06/2018 22:23

Ooooo missed it all!!!! Hang on whilst I catch up

Anyone give me a brief synapses pls!?

categed · 15/06/2018 22:25

Op, arrange for all your neighbours to line the street tomorriw at 10am. When the cf come to get their cars Ll the neighbours can stare and watch as they have to appologise in person in front of the whole street. Let them know that everyone on your street knows who they are and what complete f**rs they are. Film it all and send it to your local news station- local residents stand up to entiltled school run parents (or some such thing).
Above all, enjoy your drink.

WheelyCote · 15/06/2018 22:26

Ooo I'm upto the CF walking up the street and arguing!

WhyBeUnkind · 15/06/2018 22:28

I don’t understand why they didn’t knock on you door in the first place and I don’t understand why they only mentioned your car was blocking them in in the note when your neighbours car was also blocking them in. It’s weird of them.

malfoyy · 15/06/2018 22:29

Hats off to you OP, I'm not sure I'd have the balls 😁

WheelyCote · 15/06/2018 22:30

I'm up to the note and the CF walking away.

OP please cling film both cars!!!!!!!

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 22:31

why I'm guessing because my neighbours car is there all the time and would have been there when they arrived whereas mine wasn't

Hats off to you OP, I'm not sure I'd have the balls

I would have the balls either... they are obviously weird and unpleasant people. I’d be worried about retaliation. I’m really suprised they left without their cars without either apologizing, getting aggressive or calling the police. It’s especially surprising as there was a group of them.

greenlanes · 15/06/2018 22:34

Wow! The fact that they turned up with partners/husbands in tow when you had not said one word to them or even seen them, just shows they knew how out of order they had been. After all they had been told that you were away on holiday.

CF of the highest order. I really would put that in your letter to the school that not only had they parked etc but they had not even the decency to knock on the the door and apologise, then had turned up on mass mid evening to ask you to move your car.

Well done you and DH for being so cool. I really hope they learn a lesson.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 15/06/2018 22:35

well played OP. Truly. Beautiful job, all around. Star

WhyBeUnkind · 15/06/2018 22:38

Did they really park their car right up against your neighbours car without leaving a gap? I wonder why? Everything they do sounds odd. Generally even if one car parks right up to your bumper then as long as there is a normal parking gap at the front you can maneuver a car out. It might take a lot of time but you would have thought one of the weirdos would have at least tried.

AlpacaLypse · 15/06/2018 22:42

OP's probably busy right now judging by what the last couple of updates were referring to... Looking forward to logging on around 10 ish tomorrow... Grin

tangoed2 · 15/06/2018 22:44

Possibly the best thread I've ever read!

Skybluepinkwithyellowspots · 15/06/2018 22:45

I. Love. This!

My first parking thread, I'm so proud OP!!!

Ollivander84 · 15/06/2018 22:46

I can also recommend switching off the intercom and taking a long leisurely bath. I did not do this when someone parked in my space of course. Nor did I block them in first
He apologised at least. They're CF of another king!

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 22:49

why yup. When they parked there was a big open gap in front of their car which I then filled with my car in order to block them in.

DiabolicalMess · 15/06/2018 22:51

Have someone ring a bell behind them and shout "shame" periodically as they come to collect their cars.

That ought to do it.

piggie88 · 15/06/2018 22:51

This is brilliant, not had a great week but this thread and snapped and farted yesterday have cheered me right up!

MarmiteAndCheeseRolls · 15/06/2018 22:52

Wow.
Read first page earlier then had to go out.. It's been bugging me all eve by knowing the outcome.
.
I LOVE THE OUTCOME..
Drink so much that tomorrow you would be still over the legal limit!

Thiswayorthatway · 15/06/2018 22:54

Parking on someone else's drive is illegal, it's trespass, a civil offence. OP could claim damages equivalent to the loss of income she could have charged for allowing CF to park there.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 15/06/2018 22:56

That's truly amazing. So much respect. You and your DH deserve some kind of MN award for bravery. Pretty good for your first ever parking thread!
