My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

Well done OP, amazing work all round.

To keep the moral high ground, I would just move your car as you told them you would. I think they’ve learned a valuable lesson today!

DarkYearForMySoul · 16/06/2018 00:32

Maybe leave a note on the bell saying “Door will only be answered after apologies have been shouted through letterbox” 🤣

TheMonkeyMummy · 16/06/2018 00:42

Wonderful!!! Please start new thread so we can follow tomorrow morning.

emmyrose2000 · 16/06/2018 01:03

Well done, OP and neighbour!

If you have a local Facebook page I'd post the photos and outline of the situation on there, as well as on the school Facebook page. (Maybe consider setting up a fake profile to do so).

When they turn up in the morning, unless they're full of grovelling apologies, I'd whip out the wine glass again and say you'd had a few more late last night and that you never drive until 24 hours after the last drink and so to come back on Sunday instead

Nanna50 · 16/06/2018 04:51

If they turned up with men, thinking you were not in, I think they were intending to bounce your car out of the way until they saw your DH with no intention of ever apologising which is why they went straight on the defensive.

I would definitely block the entrance to my drive as they will no doubt keep using it.

Sweetpea55 · 16/06/2018 05:40

Marvelous work OP. DP and gorgeous NDN,
Drinks chocs and nibbles all round,

S0upertrooper · 16/06/2018 06:22

OP, DH and DNeighbour I applaud you 👏👏👏

bellabasset · 16/06/2018 06:27

I have had to laugh at this thread. How much do you charge for parking? On the other thread CF parked on my drive Feistyoldbat gives details of how to do this. I think I'd have a set of numberplates made CF1 UCK and change the plates.

I do actually have a pink car, similar hue to the Peugeot purple, Fuschia pink, can always find it in the car park.

GreatThingsWork · 16/06/2018 07:18

Just a thought. If they could walk home why were they driving to pick up their DCs?

billybagpuss · 16/06/2018 07:25

I would leave a note on the car. 'Had you simply been polite and apologised for your cheeky fuckery we would happily have moved the car last night.'

Definitely complain to the school they must be used to it by now but no harm in stirring the pot again.

SoupDragon · 16/06/2018 07:29

If they could walk home why were they driving to pick up their DCs?

I could walk to/from DS’s school if I really had to but it would probably take about an hour each way.

MrsExpo · 16/06/2018 07:42

Phew, finally caught up.

OP, nip out now to all the neighbours with notes inviting them to witness the grovelling apology, the moving of the cars and the consequent humiliation of the CFs.

LavenderDoll · 16/06/2018 07:45

Best thread ever
OP I salute you and your DH

Grobagsforever · 16/06/2018 07:49

I love you OP

WheelyCote · 16/06/2018 07:52

Second what MrsExpo said!!!

Get some of those microwave popcorn packs from everyone

Strawberry2017 · 16/06/2018 07:54

They should have come grovelling!
How rude!
Shame them on Facebook!

youarenotkiddingme · 16/06/2018 08:04

Awwwww I missed a live parking thread. A goodun too!!!

But I'm here now people, ready for the 10am return!

TheSandgroper · 16/06/2018 08:04

From half a world away, this has been a giggle. And no apology???

My 2 cents worth is to wipe a cut chilli or some Tabasco over/under the door frames and handles. You know, for that lasting impression.

Littlemissdaredevil · 16/06/2018 08:14

Sitting here with popcorn waiting for 10am

Oldbutstillgotit · 16/06/2018 08:18

DH wants to take me out for breakfast at 9 and I have told him yes but I need to be back by 10. He is utterly bemused.

Screaminginsideme · 16/06/2018 08:19

I still say hunt up a traffic warden parking over a dropped curb so it is completely blocked is illegal parking- that car at least could get a parking fine.

ChevalierTialys · 16/06/2018 08:23

I bet they arrive at 10 on the dot!

Nanasueathome · 16/06/2018 08:30

I think they’ll arrive before 10 and appear to be ‘intimidating’

EveningHare · 16/06/2018 08:33

I think they'll arrive about 1030 or 1100 - so they can whine that you said 10

MrsMonkeyBear · 16/06/2018 08:34

I'm taking my break at work at 10am today!!!
