The Beginning

The Middle

The end?

So... Long story short... There are horses, soon there should not be (I'm not good at summaries, they make me sound unreasonable).

We have a date! This Saturday! The horses should be taken away to pastures new, so we can roam the meadow in gingham dresses (dh looks good in a gingham dress) and we can have FuckYouFestivals to our heart's content.

There will be choirs and drums and bands and weapons and stackable goats and so much more!

Anyone who's read the threads knows I love a lurker. I can you see you out there. Go on, jump in while the thread's all new and shiny. You know you want to Wink

Call me a big ol'sop but that's what I've been saving my [wooden] coffee stirrers from work. I use them for kindling on bonfires.

also cut down my yule tree into parts, that goes on pagan bonfires during the rest of the year. pine oil rocks!

Jux · 17/02/2014 23:14

I am longing for pagan bonfires and cheesecake and camels and FYF....

Ah well, to sleep, perchance to dream.

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 17/02/2014 23:32

I like paper plates...saves on the washing up.

Morgause · 18/02/2014 05:33

Hope you don't mind. But I've moved some goats into the vacant field.

PedantMarina · 18/02/2014 08:00

Brilliant. Freaking brilliant, Morgause

DejaVuAllOverAgain · 18/02/2014 08:04

Love it Grin

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 08:38

Morgause, I could watch that for hours Grin goats are the future.

Alpaca, I like the idea of biodegradable ones. Could we have paper plates for the bonfire and biodegradable knives and forks? Is that possible?

Pedant, I love the smell of burning pine. Think I've still got mine too.

In other news we ordered a wood burner yesterday. Should be here Friday. Can't wait to get it put in!

Jux, I had a weird dream about how my solicitor practised from a Spa, and you got free (rubbish) treatments with every consultation. I was supposed to get a leg wax but was just left in a grotty, public shower with a tub of wax. Terrible place. I wouldn't go again Grin

Deja and steppe, paper plates is the way to go. Something like this?

I have spent the last 4 hours ploughing through this trilogy. Mr Chris is fabulous, Mrs Chris even more so. You have got me through a hideous night of teething with my sanity intact - I thank you. Today looks lovely here, inspired by you I'm off to find an open space & some fresh air.
For FYF I can supply my 68 year old Mum. She's a personal licence holder (need to make sure all the booze is legal, don't want to get busted in the first year of FYF, it'll make it more difficult for the subsequent years). She also has a certificate as a qualified bouncer. Any use?

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 09:01

Isisisis, we've got teething going on here too, so you have all my sympathy. Well done on trawling through that lot! Grin and Blush at lovely words.

Your mum sounds invaluable. We do need to be prepared for the local plod to turn up. So you don't think, "this? Oh we're... Erm... Just having a little barbecue for several hundred some close friends? ... Would you like a goat? No? ... Horse burger?"

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 09:02

Would work?

(Posted too soon)

OP posts:

Family sound thoughtless at best.... Next time don't let your plans get derailed and changed and make sure that its only one lot at a time! (easier said than done I know).

Its lovely and sunny here - I hope it is further west too and that you're all going to get out into your field again today!

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 09:39

Mistle it's overcast but bright. They are just thoughtless I think. And they don't know me but think they do. I think I'm still 13 in their eyes. It's very odd.

I'm going to get out and go and meet dh for lunch today. I haven't done it once since I've been off on maternity leave (our offices are near each other so often would when I was at work), and I've been saying I would for months.

Then After work we'll take the puppy over to the field.
She loves it. Has a great time running around like a mad thing :)

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 18/02/2014 09:42

It must be really helpful to have the field to let her gamble around in - tire herself out a bit and as its soft its not going to do her joints any harm. Are you going to get the children to do some very basic training with her (great for bonding purposes and also good on the 'understanding' dog for the children - also I think its positive in that they realise that if they do something correctly they get the dog to work with them too...)

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 09:50

Mistle, ds2 has already been getting her to sit. He's very proud.

I'm actually very impressed by her. She's nearly 4 months and will come to heel 95% of the time on the first call (100% of the time after a couple of calls), she understands sit (and will do it after a couple of repetitions), she understands "bed" and most importantly "No!".

For a puppy she's very calm and quiet too.

The dcs love her and she loves them. She's fitted right in, which is fantastic.

I think I'll give ds2 a formal training session with her. It'll do him good to understand how they learn and I certainly don't train the children the same way

hahahah I found VOD (the Voice of Doom) to be the only thing to do when DS was scampering down the pavement ahead of me at school pick up time when he was at nursery - the problem is that all the other school mums immediately wanted to fall in line too... our previous dog was really pretty good - and she was allowed off lead on very quiet roads when we were doing long walks - but if a car came I used VOD and hand signals to her and she would, for instance, sit when a distance ahead whilst the car went past - but the people I was walking with also felt like sitting down at the same time Blush

VOD doesn't really work on mistlehound. Being a Cbeebies presenter running away very noisily in the opposite direction is more effective... also gets 'looks' Grin

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 10:09

Mistle :) love the VOD. I definitely have one of those. Should have used it on UW!

I've always struggled to get dogs to sit when I say sit, rather than run to my feet to sit.

I wanted to have "Havoc!" As the "you may now run away" command (as in the roman "Cry 'havoc!' And let slip the dogs of war" quote). I keep forgetting to use it though, so I don't think it's going to stick Grin

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 18/02/2014 10:11

We 'slip' our dogs when we're racing (stand on a wobbly line in the sand and hold squirming dogs until the person officiating drops their arm when you try to let the dog go in the right direction) so perhaps I should get the officiator to cry 'havoc' instead of 'go' next time Grin

Jux · 18/02/2014 10:33

Love the idea of havoc. Love all the implications and how it fits so perfectly. Almost wish I had a dog now! On the oer hand, 3 unruly cats, a dragon, all the quokkas I'm getting soon, and a few goats may well be enough pets. And dogs are after ferrets on the list of wants, I'm afraid.

Love the goats, Morgause. Grin

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 10:34

Mistle :) yes you should! It would make me very happy.

OP posts:
FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 10:35

Jux, dh wants ferrets, desperately. But I'm not so keen. What is the attraction of them?

(And I reckon havoc would work well with a mass-release of ferrets too)

OP posts:
FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 11:35

Right, I'm off out in my scarf.

:)

OP posts:
DejaVuAllOverAgain · 18/02/2014 12:03

Watch it from about halfway in Wink

MissHobart · 18/02/2014 13:32

Ferrets are awesome! Grin

AngelaDaviesHair · 18/02/2014 14:43

What we also need, are tree goats.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 18/02/2014 16:07

Deja :) I'd like a spinning ferret please!

MrsH, but why?!

Angela, those are brilliant. I reckon they stack to get up there Grin
