flies swarming at window, no answer door, house chock full of rubbish

that's just it really. Elderly-ish lady living a few doors down, no family nearby, hasn't put her rubbish out this week and no light on this evening.
Am I just being the worst curtain-twitcher ever or is thia actually very concerning? I got the shivers seeing all those flies. Do you think I should ring the council in the morning and see of there's someone who could pop round and check she's ok? I don't think o could cope if it turned out she was suffering in any way and I ignored her. However, perhaps she just likes living in a crap tip? oh dear, what should I do? (off for a fret)

I'd probably ring the non-emergency police number tonight rather than waiting until tomorrow.

elvisola · 09/01/2014 22:34

Call the non emergency police number and they will send someone out. Swarming flies at a window is indicative of a corpse.

JanetSnakehole · 09/01/2014 22:34

I would call the police to ask for a welfare check.

LamaDrama · 09/01/2014 22:34

Ring the Police non emergency first thing tomorrow, or now.

Dont ring the council, It sounds urgent.

fluffygal · 09/01/2014 22:34

Yes do call 101, better safe then sorry. She may have had a fall and been unable to call for help.

Doesn't sound good, OP. Sad

VivaLeBeaver · 09/01/2014 22:35

Call 101 now.

Wishfulmakeupping · 09/01/2014 22:35

I'd call 101 now

soaccidentprone · 09/01/2014 22:35

Doesn't look or sound too good for your neighbour.

You need to ring 101

Plumpysoft · 09/01/2014 22:36

Poor thing, please call 101

BigOrange · 09/01/2014 22:36

Please call 101 now!

NorksAreMessy · 09/01/2014 22:36

:(

Hawkmoth · 09/01/2014 22:36

The police do a lot of "concern for welfare" calls, you should phone them.

Thundercrackers · 09/01/2014 22:37

thank you for answering me! 101 is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that- will ring them in the morning. I did have a good snoop through the window today but couldn't see anyone in there- there was a single bed parked right up next to the bay window but I couldn't tell if there was anyone in it. Don't knpw how much more snooping I cpuld do before someone calls 101 on me!

Loads of flys at this time of year, in a house. Pretty likely the neighbour us deceased.
Phone the police immediately.

EasyCompadre · 09/01/2014 22:37

It doesn't sound good, definitely call 101, they will certainly take it seriously.

llamallama · 09/01/2014 22:37

Did you call? What did they say?

MacaYoniandCheese · 09/01/2014 22:38

Sad. In books, flies always mean a corpse BUT would you get that in the winter?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/01/2014 22:38

Yep, she's a gonner.

Can't you go and check? and do a live thread

There's a chance I've had a complete sense of humour bypass tonight. But if that was supposed to be a joke it's not even remotely funny.

QuintessentialShadows · 09/01/2014 22:38

why wait until the morning?

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 09/01/2014 22:38

Yes please do ring 101 now. You might be the only person who has noticed her absence.
