flies swarming at window, no answer door, house chock full of rubbish

that's just it really. Elderly-ish lady living a few doors down, no family nearby, hasn't put her rubbish out this week and no light on this evening.
Am I just being the worst curtain-twitcher ever or is thia actually very concerning? I got the shivers seeing all those flies. Do you think I should ring the council in the morning and see of there's someone who could pop round and check she's ok? I don't think o could cope if it turned out she was suffering in any way and I ignored her. However, perhaps she just likes living in a crap tip? oh dear, what should I do? (off for a fret)

Oh the poor soul. Please ring the police asap. Even if she has passed away it seems heartless to just leave it until the morning.

FannyFifer · 09/01/2014 22:39

Ring it now FFS, why would you wait till the morning?
Is this actually for real?Biscuit

Kahlua4me · 09/01/2014 22:39

I would also call 101 now, not tomorrow morning. You probably will be worrying about her all night anyway so best to make the call.

They can get someone to come and look this eve, just incase she is still alive but ill. Although with flies there it's not likely she is still alive.

HyvaPaiva · 09/01/2014 22:39

Please call 101 and please don't wait til morning.

Thundercrackers · 09/01/2014 22:39

actually, you're all absolutely right, maybe I should call them now- then it's out of my hands and some professionals cam deal with it. Am goimg to have nightmares tonight about flies! Right, here goes ....

Well if shes not in bed, she might be on the floor or in her armchair. In fact, in any room. How sad, I really hope shes gone away to stay with family. And not alone in there without anyone knowing.

This has made me cry, its so awful x

TheZeeTeam · 09/01/2014 22:39

I'd call tonight too. Although if she is just pottering around inside, she'll get a bit of a shock!

YoniMatopoeia · 09/01/2014 22:39

I would call tonight.

Meglet · 09/01/2014 22:40

No, ring them now. The police work 24/7.

This happened in our road last year. My neighbours DH found the chap dead Sad.

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2014 22:40

Yes, I'd call tonight too.
Sad

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 09/01/2014 22:40

OP, Please call them now and don't wait until tomorrow. Flies could be food in the rubbish bin rather than a body. It is possibly that she may have fallen and is unable to get help.

Skiskiskis · 09/01/2014 22:40

Of course you need to ring the police now but can someone please tell me if I've been in a time warp or something? I've never heard of the telephone number 101. What's that all about?

EverSoFarAway · 09/01/2014 22:40

Please call 101 tonight. They can decide based on the facts you give them whether they will send someone tonight or in the morning, but please log it with them tonight.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 09/01/2014 22:41

If you're wrong she'll feel pleased that somebody would have noticed/cared

Joules68 · 09/01/2014 22:41

Those flies won't have appeared overnight

What about other neighbours, have they seen her?

Arkina · 09/01/2014 22:41

Definitely call tonight. I work for the police and we get regular calls like this. Someone will be round tonight will force entry if necessary but please dont wait til morning

AwfulMaureen · 09/01/2014 22:42

Oh God don't wait! Call now! She might be ill! Flies could just be because of muck in general. Go and lift up the letterbox and listen...call and knocK!

Kahlua4me · 09/01/2014 22:42

I was a community nurse a few years back and one of my old ladies died. None of her neighbours noticed the milk stacking up on her doorstep, or that there were no lights on in the evenings, nor did the milkman....

Anyway she had been dead for about 4 days when I turned up for my booked appt. it upset me and her family for a long time that no one had noticed, or had just left it for someone else to deal with.

riskit4abiskit · 09/01/2014 22:42

I really hope shes not dead. Its so sad to think of somebody else dying alone

scripsi · 09/01/2014 22:42

Call tonight!

ASmidgeofMidge · 09/01/2014 22:42

Yup, ring 101 - this evening - and ask police to do a safe & well check

KingOfClay not being a miserable bastard at all...I didn't think that comment was nice either.

Onelittlebugbear · 09/01/2014 22:43

If there's loads of rubbish maybe she's ok? Because the rubbish would t build up if she wasn't there?
