I love a nice big jigsaw, me. Preferably something like a thatched cottage surrounded by flowers.

I am too embarrassed to do them at home because my 80 year old mother and inlaws who are in their 70s share my enthusiasm and I just think if any of my uber-cool London creative/media-type mates came calling and saw a bugger like that on my dining table they would think I was a very sad case and immediately drop me.

Knitting, along with a nice bit of Antiques Roadshow on a Sunday night.

pointythings · 09/01/2012 21:17

I hate jigsaws, but I love words - I am the office dictionary.
I too love computers.
My desk in the office is called 'Geek Corner' and I like that.
I insist on correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
I watch science fiction and fantasy shows.
I think mental maths is fun.

I think I'd better stop now.

pointythings · 09/01/2012 21:18

MyCat I think you may be my soul mate.

SkivingAgain · 09/01/2012 21:18

Grin at talc - shite hawks

I love a good look through the huge dictionary at work. In my element if someone asks how to spell something, or wants to know what a word means and the dictionary must live on my desk

ariadneoliver · 09/01/2012 21:19

Talc my, those are ... special. Grin

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 09/01/2012 21:20

ahh pointythings we can be friends Grin

Although I have to say, my grammar is apalling (how the hell do you spell that??)... which is partly why I work in communications (oh, Ok then, marketing!)

tentative123 · 09/01/2012 21:22

It's all about the jig board. Then you can hide them under the sofa and pretend to be cool. Been doingit for years.

TalcAndTurnips · 09/01/2012 21:22

KurriKurri - Kinkade's effluent output all glows, because he is actually a revolutionary post-apocalyptic visionary artist; he is painting his idea of what life will be like, after North Korea finally lose the plot completely and nuke the shit out of the entire planet.

Oh no, wait - he's just a totally pants painter.

JayVazzle · 09/01/2012 21:23

Wow another Countryfile fan. I have never met anyone that watches it, but then I do live in London.

I also love looking at old maps.

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 09/01/2012 21:24

Planes. That's my geeky passion. Love watching them, reading about them, and taking photos of them. Not so keen on flying in them though Hmm

I'm 22 Hmm again

I also like doing online jigsaws as I have no space to do proper ones Hmm Hmm

peanutbear · 09/01/2012 21:30

I love Soundtracks to musicals one of my favourites is my fair lady !!!
I have a thing about mobile phones which when asked I can explain the pros and cons of most brands of.
I also love cooking and was overjoyed to get a kenwood mixer at Christmas
I do know I'm a nerd though

ILovePonyo · 09/01/2012 21:31

Kurri I saw an article about Kinkade (who I had never heard of before) which said that a large percentage of homes in America own one of his pictures (can't remember actual figures), and said how they are actually quite creepy as it is as if the homes are all on fire inside - I agree with this!

Oh and I am a nerd as I have just spent a couple of hours playing the new zelda game - I am a geek addicted Grin

drummerswife · 09/01/2012 21:31

i watched countryfile for the 1st time last week and thoroughly enjoyed it.
i love wordsearches
i had a jigsaw for xmas from my inlaws [my mil's a jigsaw addict] not started it yet but i'm thinking of buying one of those mats that you do jigsaws on so it can be stored out of sight
i love family history
i have numerous colouring books and colour when i'm stressed out

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/01/2012 21:32

I like reading books about Scott of the Antarctic, whale hunting, terrible shipwrecks etc.

I get into big debates about which Jane Austen book/character/film adaptation is the best and why.

I can recognise the opening notes of a Smiths song at a 1000 paces.

I have an entire cupboard full of Stephen King books which I like to smile at every day.

I play games with myself/dd1 in which I/we try and spot 'characters' from books when walking around town or in paintings when in art galleries.

JayVazzle · 09/01/2012 21:33

Online jigsaw?? Lollipop where can I find these, it can be something else I get addicted to.

moondog · 09/01/2012 21:34

'rocking out' to Annie
Grin

I love work and thing about it all the time.
I read highly technical manuals and research papers for fun.

Cleaning and tidying are two of my most favourite things in the worls to do.

I am gripped by effective administration.

To my horror delight I have learnt that there isn't much that can beat a mug of Earl Grey and yes, a jigsaw.
Have a fiendish Native American dreamcatcher/running deer horror on my kitchen table and am loving every minute of it. Ostensibly it is for my dd and i pretend to grumble at her for not doing it.
Secretly, am delighted.

weevilswobble · 09/01/2012 21:36

I might be about to kill the thread.......

I sing along to Songs of Praise AND watch Countryfile.

TalcAndTurnips · 09/01/2012 21:36

As well as jigsaws, I also enjoy cross-channel ferries (but not being on them); Type 42 destroyers (only three left now in service - such an elegant ship Sad) and...

the more Hammond organs the better Blush

Ooo and I have to watch antiques roadshow, dd and I love to have a guess at the value of the stuff and who ever gets the most wrong has to put the kettle on.

I am maybe edging from geeky into sad.
