I love a nice big jigsaw, me. Preferably something like a thatched cottage surrounded by flowers.

I am too embarrassed to do them at home because my 80 year old mother and inlaws who are in their 70s share my enthusiasm and I just think if any of my uber-cool London creative/media-type mates came calling and saw a bugger like that on my dining table they would think I was a very sad case and immediately drop me.

I got a jigsaw out of the library the other day Blush that must be doubly nerdy. I just couldn't resist - it had been so long since I had a big enough space to do one!
Dh was Hmm

TastesLikePanda · 09/01/2012 20:46

I'm mostly dressed like a goth - head to toe black, trainers, streaks in my hair etc - and I always have my ipod plugged in if i'm walking anywhere or at the gym... but I'm just as likely to be listening to a musical soundtrack instead of some cool metal band.
Not even cool, edgy musicals - on saturday I was rocking out to the sosundtrack of Annie... all together now - 'The sun'll come out TOMORROW!'

baubleybobbityhat · 09/01/2012 20:49

Oh crikey Panda! One of our neighbours was having a sort out at the weekend and brought round the dvd of Annie for my 10 year old dd. Have never seen the film myself ... is it nerd-tastic?

MudAndGlitter · 09/01/2012 20:51

Annie is a great film!
I read cookbooks for fun but don't usually cook any of it. I want to be Martha Stewart and am currently knitting DD a scarf. At 22 my life may be over Grin

mrsjay · 09/01/2012 20:53

tasteslikepanda you sound a bit like my eldest she a bit indie looking but has show tunes blaringGrin

TalcAndTurnips · 09/01/2012 20:53

bibbity - I love a good jigsaw; my jig of choice would be a nice Devon scene with some cottages, boats on the shore, trees and not too much fecking sky.

And if there IS sky, some bloody clouds please - preferably with some shite hawks wheeling about and maybe some telegraph lines or a plane.

Annie = perfect for a 10 year old and not at all nerdy (though maybe nerdy for a Goth ipod!). I often peel vege to the, 'Songs From The Musicals' CDs - my favourite is, 'Spring, Spring, Spring' from, 'Seven Brides For Seven Brothers.'

I often find myself on a Friday or Saturday evening making resources for work because I've got myself all excitied about Shakespeare, or Wilfred Owen or some-such. That must be nerdy, right?

I am an absolute music nerd and will talk about 80s indie bands/lyrics until the cows come home - IF I can find another nerd to talk to, anyway!

I also like to arrange the tin of Caran D'ache pencils by colour, going from lightest to darkest...

mrsjay · 09/01/2012 20:56

I have a harry potter tee shirt and i wear it is that nerdy ??

JayVazzle · 09/01/2012 20:58

I have 101 power ballads CD in my car and bloody love it, I secretly watch Countryfile and love watching old 80s cartoons.

Salmotrutta · 09/01/2012 20:58

I wear vests in the winter - does that count?

And I have never owned an iPod, done Facebook or bought leggings.

I've got really into astrophysics recently and bore people with it when I'm pissed.

mrsjay · 09/01/2012 21:01

I openly watch countryfile Grin i also read books about primates and primate behaviour yet im not a scientist , thats gotta count as nerdy Grin

I love starwars and harry potter get excited over xmen films ,

TalcAndTurnips · 09/01/2012 21:02

And the jigsaw MUST be a photo, not a painting.

My idea of jiggy hell is this range by Thomas Kinkade, Painter of Shite

I'd need a bucket under the table to complete one of those bastards.

pepperrabbit · 09/01/2012 21:05

I work in finance, it's very dull grown up with huge numbers. We are always busy, yet I spent a lot of last summer comparing my potato crop with one of my colleagues. We actually took photos.....

TastesLikePanda · 09/01/2012 21:06

Annie is cheesetastic! I also love Grease, Hairspray and the musical episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and can sing along badly with all the parts!
The film is great - and has Tim Curry in it (bonus) and is almost as old as I am!

I am a nerd in many many ways. Radio 3 anyone?

I like numbers, particularly those that are a palindrome. In fact, I'm quite partial to any palindrome. This is rather odd, but I like numbers on a digital display that are made up out of the correct number of lines. 4,5 and 6 are all GOOD numbers. 2 is dreadful, because it is 5 backwards. And don't get me started on 1, why does that have two lines?

I like planes too, I like to know what country they've arrived from.

Reading this makes me even more sure that I am very very odd. I'll get my coat......

KurriKurri · 09/01/2012 21:12

Yes to jigsaws, but like talc I hate too much sky/sea, I have one of Waterloo Station in the forties on the go at the moment.

I have quite a lot of very nerdy knowledge about certain musicians/singers (like specific musical things on recordings etc. very dull to everyone except me Grin)

Reading old gardening books, descriptions of plants. latin names etc.

Similarly insects - I'm very keen on moths and butterflies, and birdwatching - but not in a twitchery way.

Remus - my set of Caran D'ache pencils was one of my best ever birthday presents (about 40 years ago!) arranging them by colour shade is incredibly satisfying.

pepperrabbit · 09/01/2012 21:12

tasteslikepanda I LOVED the musical episode of Buffy - the phrase "he's taking witness arias" never fails to cheer me up Grin

KurriKurri · 09/01/2012 21:13

Oh God the Thomas Kinkade range - why have they all got that strange radio active glow? They are like a pictorial representation of a migraine.

pranma · 09/01/2012 21:14

I have a train set :)
I love coloured paper and pencils.
LunaticFringe please can you help with my computer probem?See my new thread in Chat re Acer A500 tablet.

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 09/01/2012 21:14

Hello, my name is MyCatIsA... and it has been 3hrs since my last scific/fantasy novel read..

I just love a swords and demons and sci fi fantasy novel thingy. Also love crappy sci fi films, pure fun escapism

Added to that, I adore sky at night, stuff on quantum physics (don't understand it at all, just want to!), evolution, life... sciency kind of stuff and..

.. I have been known to go to steam engine fairs and ploughing competitions...

So, that's that then, any tiny semblence of respect I may have slightly gained on MN is all gone!
