Hi

this is my first post but have lurked for sometime. My 3yo DS has lost his favourite stuffed dog tonight in Blackpool and I am putting a plea out there if anyone can help me! Its a very tatty looking, sorry well loved(!) dog and we dropped it near the south pier about 7pm-long search but no joy. I am devastated and feel so sorry for him-he sobbed all the way home-as did I. I hope someone can help us.

Any suggestions how we can make him feel better tomorrow? Thinking build a bear and obviously lots of hugs but if you have been in a similar situation any ideas are more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance
Balletpump

ps-if you saw me sobbing on Blackpool front and stopped to help thank you as well x

That looks exactly like it happygilmore (the second one)

happygilmore · 30/10/2011 18:51

oh I hope it is! Hate to think of a child without a toy, my DD loves her bunny more than us. Maybe they would do a buy it now if it is?

nenevomito · 30/10/2011 19:30

I just hope the OP sees it as comparing it to the photos I'm positive its the same one.

balletpump · 30/10/2011 19:33

Hi
They are all so similar but the original was found on eBay on Friday night by another lovely poster. The buyer sadly won't pull the auction so we are bidding for it at the moment!! Until Friday I had rarely used facebook, posted on a forum or been on eBay so if nothing else and pretty darn good on the Internet now!!
Thank you again for looking- he is so similar to both a jelly cat and marks dlyan but he is not quite one!
DS was asking about him today- he suggested the dog is having a big poo on the pier! For those who know the dogs name you must be wondering what kind of child he is and what kind of loopy parents we are!!!!!

happygilmore · 30/10/2011 19:34

Glad you found it already! I think it's ridiculous that the ebay seller won't do a buy it now, but sure you will win it.

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 30/10/2011 19:37

The buyer won't give you a BIN price? After you told them all that? Feckers Sad. Have you set up a sniper thing?

Secrecy · 30/10/2011 19:37

Awww... That's both really sad and really lovely all at the same time. I'm glad you've found a new one, at least. Good look for the auction (no one bid on any toy dogs in the next few days!!!

Hungrydragon · 30/10/2011 19:39

Hi ballet, I'm sure you'll win as it didn't sell last time Smile, I had a look elsewhere but cannot find it anywhere other than ebay so I really hope you win the auction.

I am still hoping for the best outcome and that the original turns up. I meant to say though both my ds and dd insisted on taking their sock monkeys on holiday this year. They both had to have sharpie tattoos on their inside leg seam with my mobile number on Wink

Bogeymanface · 30/10/2011 19:41

www.auctionstealer.com lets you do 3 free snipes a week. I set it up for "must haves" incase I forget when an auction is ending.

Teaandcakeplease · 30/10/2011 19:41

I use this sniper and it's fab.

Teaandcakeplease · 30/10/2011 19:42

X post Grin

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 30/10/2011 19:43

I would get the link removed if MNHQ are willing, the buyer could be seeing a squillion 'watches' if people click on it and so unwilling to pull it. Just thinking people might be adding it to watch lists without thinking?

blackoutthesun · 30/10/2011 19:45

hope you do get it

can't believe the seller is being a bastard tho Angry

thefirstMrsDeVeerie · 30/10/2011 19:48

I hope you win your doggie Smile

My DD had a benjimen bunny that my sister bought her when she was a new baby. She got it from John Lewis. When she got cancer she took it with her into hospital and one day it got taken away with the laundry. Sad

We never got it back. I miss it. These little things are important arent they?

It will be lovely if you get your DS a replacement for his special toy. Please let us know if it works out.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 30/10/2011 19:48

am going to LA in a couple of weeks time, if you want a post card from there I would be happy to do it.

DS1 lost tigger he was missing for a number of months, then DH found an identical one in the disney store (wasn't made from conventional teddy fluff)
we slipped it into Ds1;s bed in the middle of the night and he ran into our room first thing, declaring tigger had been on holliday and was back!!
I was SOO relieved.

Hope you and DS find a happy solution

IndieSkies · 30/10/2011 19:53

Set up an auto bid for a v generous amount.
And yes, MNers should stop looking at watching the item.

MissIngaFewmarbles · 30/10/2011 19:57

OP I feel your pain. Earlier this year DD2 lost her piggy on the way home from school. 2 weeks of sobbing at bedtime. Sweeps of the whole area around school. I decided to take her for a hot chocolate one day to cheer her up and who was in the window of the cafe? Yes it was piggy (was originally pink now grey) I dont know who cried harder me or DD. I really hope you find the dog or at least a replacement that DS is happy withx

balletpump · 30/10/2011 20:01

I don't blame the seller- it's fine- they have to make a living- just hope we get it. Mr BP is going to set up sniper now! Perhaps I should get this thread removed? I hope the seller doesn't pull it if we say negative things about them?!
Am sorry to hear your story mrs d- it certainly puts my story into perspective.
Apart from good Internet skills I have also had the chance to speak to some fab people offering their time to help us with searches and postcards!

JajasWjolef · 30/10/2011 20:06

Oh heck, more lumps in throat here.

Yes perhaps get the thread pulled and then come back and let us know what happens Friday, best of luck [hsmile].

JajasWjolef · 30/10/2011 20:07

Run off a copy of the thread to keep for when your DS is older [hsmile].

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/10/2011 20:09

Yes if this thread is pulled, please do let us know how things go BP.

TheHandThatRocksTheCradle · 30/10/2011 20:14

I know this might be a daft suggestion but have you started a thread with 'toy dog lost in Blackpool' in the title? There might be loads of local MNers who haven't clicked on this one as it's not obvious what it's about but would open a thread they might be able to help with.

Sorry if it's already been suggested/done but it's got to be worth a try. Smile

skinnymuffin · 30/10/2011 20:19

Good luck, I hope you win! MN never ceases to amaze me, what a unique and fabulous place this is :)

JajasWjolef · 30/10/2011 20:23

Really good idea TheHand.
