Hi

this is my first post but have lurked for sometime. My 3yo DS has lost his favourite stuffed dog tonight in Blackpool and I am putting a plea out there if anyone can help me! Its a very tatty looking, sorry well loved(!) dog and we dropped it near the south pier about 7pm-long search but no joy. I am devastated and feel so sorry for him-he sobbed all the way home-as did I. I hope someone can help us.

Any suggestions how we can make him feel better tomorrow? Thinking build a bear and obviously lots of hugs but if you have been in a similar situation any ideas are more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance
Balletpump

ps-if you saw me sobbing on Blackpool front and stopped to help thank you as well x

Well said skinny. Great example of how lovely MNetters can be. Hope you get the dog balletpump :)

Hungrydragon · 30/10/2011 20:40

ballet ...they can move the thread to Off the Beaten track so it can't be googled or come up in active conversations too. That way you can update without it being found, or you have the option of a deletion Smile

BelinaTheZombieChicken · 30/10/2011 22:52

DS (2.5) went on his first trip away without me, a boys weekend with DH, FIL and his godfather, and left his beloved lamb at the hotel. Could have killed DH, but the lovely hotel staff found him, gave him a wash and sent him home, thank goodness. DS has a heart scan next month, don't think he'd cope without him.

Hope you get him back

MmeLindor. · 31/10/2011 05:35

If you leave the thread and just have the link pulled then people won't be able to click on it.

I tweeted a link to this thread and it has been RTed loads of times, think a lot of them were in Blackpool.

Hungrydragon · 31/10/2011 08:18

Ooooh good point mme i will report my post

KickArseQueen · 31/10/2011 09:27

meaning the brown one in the pic, would have originally come from asda? x

spiderlight · 31/10/2011 10:03

Sorry if this has already been poste d - haven't read the entire thread - but Tatty Ratty is a wonderful book about a lost bunny and his adventures as he finds his way home.

Changebagsandgladrags · 31/10/2011 10:25

I can't help on the actual find, but maybe our story about the Playmobil cutlass will help:

DS was given a set of two pirates, complete with shotguns and cutlasses. We were going on a long journey so I offered to look after the weapons so they didn't get lost. On arrival one cutlass was gone. They are tiny little things. I searched the car for days. Nothing.

I did get a replacement. But a few months later in our own church car-park we couldn't park in our normal area so we went right down to the bottom end. I happened to look down, and there at my feet was the missing cutlass. I have no idea how it got there...

Hungrydragon · 31/10/2011 10:34

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee KickArse you've found him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He as an Asda doggy!

Hungrydragon · 31/10/2011 10:37

An American Mnetter can buy him and ship him! Or I'll get my Uncle to do it!!!!!

AhsataN · 31/10/2011 11:13

have just read this thread from beginning to end and Ive got to say i love mumsnet. I'm quite new on here only been around for a few months and when i have posted Ive been helped so much.
balletpump i hope doggie turns up or you win your ebay bid.

ednurse · 31/10/2011 11:49

What a lovely/sad thread. Hope he is found soon!

SaffronCake · 31/10/2011 12:25

I'm reading this thread with tears welling up. My little girl insists on keeping the teddies she finds, but she takes good care of them. Perhaps a child like her found him? Perhaps he is now sitting on a shelf somewhere in luxury? Maybe he's surfing, sailing and having a good time (see PM offering postcard).

I'm sure you already have but you really should report him lost at the local police station because if he is handed in there even months later they will contact you. I know that's old fashioned now, but you can't afford not to try it. Sadly I suspect he may be long gone but all credit to you for the effort and I sincerely hope it works out.

Also have you considered "lost teddy" posters on lamp posts like for a real dog?

MrsBloodyTroll · 31/10/2011 13:32

KickArse, you absolute star!

Mouseface · 31/10/2011 14:12

Wow, just wow.

The kindness of strangers has yet again blown me away.

You should all be very proud of yourselves for being the kind of people who care.... I mean that without any sarcasm.

You are all so lovely.

I hope you win the bid or manage to get the little chap that KickAss found. xx

twinklespeciallyforlittlegirls · 31/10/2011 14:17

There is a very wet and muddy teddy in Golden Acre Park in Leeds, we saw him yesterday afternoon and I picked him out of the mud and sat him on a bench, a bit further round from where the ducks are - I hope he's been reunited with his owners and fingers crossed for the dog in the OP! x

balletpump · 31/10/2011 18:31

Hi
sorry work has interupted my searching and mumsnet addiction today. But did have mini meltdown today which has reinforced my rep as office loon Blush
Big thank you to all postcard senders-I have never so emails from actual people rather than trying to sell me stuff.
The walmart one is almost but not quite. I am going to bear this mind if I need a more options!! Thank you kickass for finding and hungry dragon for letting me know.
DS is currently sat next to me wanting to know if dog has emailed yet?! I just said yes and crossed my fingers but its not actually a lie, is it?!

MigratingCoconuts · 31/10/2011 19:26

Am I the only one who is beginning to think that this thread is moving towards a classics nomination??

I can't wait to find out how the 'cousin' goes down and where the first postcard comes from.

(I'd offer to send one but am not sure the Surrey/sussex border is hugely exciting PM me if you'd like a postcard!!)

MOSagain · 31/10/2011 20:02

Oooh, migrating are we neighbours? I'm on Surrey/Sussex border!

MigratingCoconuts · 31/10/2011 20:13
