Hi

this is my first post but have lurked for sometime. My 3yo DS has lost his favourite stuffed dog tonight in Blackpool and I am putting a plea out there if anyone can help me! Its a very tatty looking, sorry well loved(!) dog and we dropped it near the south pier about 7pm-long search but no joy. I am devastated and feel so sorry for him-he sobbed all the way home-as did I. I hope someone can help us.

Any suggestions how we can make him feel better tomorrow? Thinking build a bear and obviously lots of hugs but if you have been in a similar situation any ideas are more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance
Balletpump

ps-if you saw me sobbing on Blackpool front and stopped to help thank you as well x

Crossing fingers for you

naturalbaby · 29/10/2011 09:23

good luck.

my ds dropped his comforter rabbit outside a shop, we did a thorough search within 20mins and someone had picked it up and taken it, no sign of it anywhere.

we found a replacement online and then someone stole our baby bag with rabbit inside Sad luckily found one on ebay - have never seen one on ebay before or since!

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 29/10/2011 10:49

Anyluck today mr and mrs balletpump?

I think as parents we get just as attached to these --smelly, grotty looking bits of soft stuff-- comforters as our little ones do.

KittieCat · 29/10/2011 11:55

What a sad start to a thread but SUCH a heartening response. Fair warmed the cockles of my heart. Fingers, toes and all else crossed for the safe return of puppy Balletpumps.

SilverMachine · 29/10/2011 12:27

We once had a whole library full of people (staff and all) searching for ds's toy elephant. I remember how heartbreaking it was when we thought we had lost him.

I am crossing my fingers for you x

balletpump · 29/10/2011 12:31

Hello ladies
just an update really. No luck with finding him. We debated about going to Blackpool and decided not to-in case we couldn't find him and this caused more upset-we would have to take DS with us and didn't think it would be right-building up hopes etc. I am currently emailling/fb lots of sites to see if I have any luck.
Mr BP has emailed eBay seller with the copy and so I hope we can pass this off as him/a cousin!
Your kindness has been so touching and I want to thank every person who has messaged. Those people who offered to send postcards would it be ok to take you up on this offer-DS would love it. I will PM shortly.
We are very lucky that we can afford to treat DS so we took him to Build a bear this morning-new ted bought but he keeps saying it will be great when missing dog meets him as well-its all so sad.
Thank you again and keep your peeled if ever in Blackpool x

Ooh, I hope that's the one!

savoycabbage · 29/10/2011 12:40

I'll send you a postcard from Australia if you want. I hope you find him or replace him.

Hungrydragon · 29/10/2011 12:45

Aaaw well done for handling it so well. Thankyou for the pm btw too Smile I too will be happy to send a postcard if you decide to go down that route.

And he if as a result of this you end up established Mnetters you can sign up to have Pom, the Mnet bear for a week too although he appears to like whisky

MigratingCoconuts · 29/10/2011 12:48

love the postcard idea!

brdgrl · 29/10/2011 13:56

i can send a postcard from the states, will be there for month of december, if you like!

balletpump · 29/10/2011 13:57

Hungry-I am not handling this well at all. Two frantic hours online fbing and emailling lots of people so just see what happens now. Phoned the Pier and was reassuring told he is probably in a bin.....! Its so silly just just a manky bit of cloth but its really got to me. DS is loving his new dog and has free run of the Tv today-only! Can just sit and wait now.
Think I will beome a regular mumsnetter from now on!
Again thank you

Its a shame we can't have soft toys tagged in the same way we tag pets, so that they can be traced if found. Sad

LinzerTorte · 29/10/2011 14:25

A postcard will be winging its way from Austria tomorrow. Really hope you find him soon - or at least a very similar looking "cousin".

KatieMortician · 29/10/2011 14:37

Mine will be coming from Richmond/London by first class today or tomorrow.

So expect it just after the one from Austria and just before one from Oz Wink

Jacksmania · 29/10/2011 14:38

Oh do stay on MN! It's a right pain in the arse at times (avoid AIBU until very seasoned!!!) but most everyone here is lovely.

PM me your address and doggy's name and I will send a postcard from the West Coast of Canada on Monday. My mum is currently here and returning to Toronto on Tuesday, if you like we can pretend doggy has worked his way across the Rockies and is heading east toward home :o

MmeLindor. · 29/10/2011 15:06

Oooh, that was cruel, to suggest that he would be in a bin. Naughty Blackpool person.

Course he won't be in a bin. He is currently half way to Geneva, and thinking of stopping off in London on the way. He has heard that they have pretty good choc in Geneva and thinks he could like a place that has both choc AND a lake to swim in. Although he is not sure about swimming at this time of year, it may be too cold.

LinzerTorte · 29/10/2011 15:14

I think your postcard from London might be slightly quicker than mine from Austria, Katie. Wink

I could actually bring mine over with me to London tomorrow and post it there for added speed, but I'll post it with an Austrian stamp here for added authenticity. Smile

SuePurblybiltFromBitsofCorpses · 29/10/2011 15:22

I'm in with a postcard from the Devon seaside if you need one

balletpump · 29/10/2011 16:26

Hi again
I think I have Pm'd everyone with regards to postcards. Thank you so much-the kindness of strangers has been so touching and it will really make DS day. Mr BP is in touch now with eBay seller and we are waiting for a ID check! After all his hols the dog is going to look a bit more refreshed isn't he!!

Sadly for you I think I might hang out here a bit more from now-and actually talk! Not brave enough for AIBU though!

OP posts:
Hungrydragon · 29/10/2011 17:34

Really glad you're thinking of sticking around Smile. Hope that daft person now realises he's not done the Blackpool Tourist Board any favours now Mnetters know how they treat well loved inanimate friends!

AIBU's still fun to lurk in for a snigger.

None of you saw nuffin, ok?

MrsBloodyTroll · 29/10/2011 19:17

Oh, the postcards are going to be amazing!

(not seen a thing, Hungrydragon. And I'm not really crying, just been chopping some onions, honest guv!)

JajasWjolef · 29/10/2011 19:23

Yes I'm doing a fair bit of gulping here too [hblush].

Really glad that you may stay with MN balletpump and maybe the odd post from Mr BP too!

So hope that the little fella's puppy turns up.

xx

Pancakeflipper · 29/10/2011 19:28

Oh what a sad but touching story. He's a very loved doggie. All cuddly toys should be that well loved. I hope he reappears in your son's life even if he's looking much younger and well groomed.

Twosugarsplease · 29/10/2011 20:26

Tears in my eyes, really sympathise, good luck xx
