Totally agree Attila... the kittens that were born in this house and handled from day one are the sweetest cuddliest cats. They're great with the kids too.

That being said one of the two that clawed me to pieces when i kidnapped him from the shed to reunite him with mum turned into the dopiest most loving cat you could imagine too. Sadly he's been missing for 3 weeks now though and depite searching the area I can't find any trace of him... so many dogs and badgers and foxes around that I think he's had a run in with one and didn't survive Sad

I have asked around - my boys particularly have been canvassing the area. I'm going to print off flyers tomorrow. I hope the owners are missing her, not just abandoned her. I don't know - what a day!!
viriginia we did try - twice infact - to return the kitten but the 3rd time it was chucked out of the nursery, it was left a fair distance away. We had no choice but to take her in. She was very cold and not moving, and warming her and watching her literally come back to life was truly special.
I'm gonna blub now, it's been such a rollercoaster day!

Let's hope she doesn't get pregnant again anytime soon.

Can't help myself. Happy to accept your sense of humour failure though

BOE is right, they can go into heat again so quickly. The last time we brought our kitten producing machine adopted stray to the vet (when he finally agreed to spay her) she was 8 weeks post having kittens and she was already 3/4 weeks pregnant with 6 more Shock

NOthing funny about cruelty to cats jokes - people are utterly vile to cats.

You are formula feeding your kitten Shock ShockShock you do know it will end up obese and thick?

(good luck with it OP, we hand reared our dog and he is very special Smile)

Agree, people are vile to cats, it's disgusting.

I found an abandoned kitten in the middle of nowhere last year, and took it to our local vets, when i went back to check on it's progress, someone had found her abandoned brother the same afternoon.I spent hours walking the area checking for any others.

Luckily the vets receptionist decided to keep them both..As the feral cats i feed (and my dog) would've made their lives hard going.

Good luck OP.

The kitten i found at the side of the road (actually, it was in the middle of the road playing when i first came across it, I almost ran it over) was half starved to death and had a bad infection. It took weeks to get it right and it almost lost and eye as a result Angry It had a sister but I spent hours trying to catch her and couldn't get close enough... I left some food and went back later that day but still no luck. When i drove past the next day there was no sign of her so sadly I think a fox got her Sad

Makes me so angry that someone would dump them like that right by the road after clearly starving them for weeks beforehand Angry

I really don't think it is a lack of humour failure, more a lack of humour on your part, skin.

Morning :)

Kitty has fed nicely and done a poo and lots of wees so I'm hopeful. She does make a ticking/clicking sound - wonder if thats a problem or a start of a purr? She does it occasionally, normally after a feed/wee/poo situation.

The mum and 2 other kits are now safe in a pet carrier in my conservatory away from my doggies. The mum was happy to move them and has eaten ham since, but not drunk any of the water we've left (that I can see anyway). She is filthy and young - 6m at most, so I'm thinking she's a stray.

She's feeding the other kits but no cleaning them - theres a lot of poo on their legs, is this normal?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Most mothers will clean them during and after a feed but if she isn't the best at cleaning herself she might be neglecting to do so, it's quite common for young mothers to not be too great at caring for kittens.

If she were tame i'd suggest doing it yourself with some cotton wool as they're susceptible to infection if they're covered in poo but in your situation you might end up with two more to hand rear if she takes offence so it might be best to just leave them for a day or two and assess the situation.

They can purr from a very young age so that might be what you're hearing... little one obviously feels loved and well cared for with you acting as mommy Smile

Summer I'm so glad you're around this morning!! :)
I'll monitor the mummy and step in if I need to. She let me stroke her this morning and responds to my voice by 'padding' with her paws, and her babies seem fat and happy (just dirty!)
It's actually a lovely situation to find myself in, just so nervous about it going wrong, especially with my 3 sons on easter holidays getting attached etc.
Keep checking back to help me please !! :) Hope vallhala is around latre too

Oh I soooooo want a kitten :( My dad hates cats so was never allowed. "You can have 20 cats when you're in your own house" blah blah... except I'm stupid and marry and asthmatic with a severe cat allergy

Oh, how lovely.

No cutesy names though. Gotta be pensioner names.

Gladys and Daphne, Fred and George.
