Thank you all so much for remembering Ginger. We scattered his ashes in the garden where hd was born - a full circle moment.

We will never have another cat like our boy - an independent Tom cat: a hooligan as our vet used to call him, but so in love with his family he was the sweetest soul. He’d do patrols nightly to check all the kids were home safe, and yowl to let us know if one was away. He walked part of the journey to school with them, and waited on the drive for them to return.

It was a privilege to raise him and love him. His sister is equally loved and adored, and she’s just about OK now after a couple of very obvious weeks of grieving.

Thanks all of you 💙

I was reading this in Classics thinking it was a zombie thread and was gripped by it, what a rollercoaster! Then I saw your message @Pinot, I am so sorry, please remember you gave him a glorious life quite literally from day 1. I am giving my own fur baby a special hug after reading this epic, wonderful tale of two kitties (plus all the others, including Rosie and the teen mummy cat ❤️

I just read this whole thread. So sorry you just lost Ginger.

What a lovely thread

So sorry to read this @Pinot. I posted on this thread when you found them (different name) and I’ve often remembered them. I lost one of mine last year and I know how devastating it is. Just be proud that you gave them such a lovely home. I hope Meow doesn’t pine for her brother too much. My remaining cat is a lot more clingy she he lost his brother but I’m not complaining as I love the cuddles. Have you any photos of them all grown up?

Oh @Pinot I'm so sorry. I've read through all your posts today and hoped that you had an update.

We lost the last of our cats a few years ago and we still aren't 'over it'. I miss them all dreadfully, and it's still too soon to think about another cat (or kitten).

He was lucky to have you.
(Unmumsnetty hugs)

Hi all. We lost our beautiful Ginger yesterday. He made it to 10 years and 4 months and was loved every second of it.

His sister is still with us.

Pinot - I also have two hand reared cats. They are my constant companions, following me around the house, the garden and will even go for walk with me! As you say, we are their world.

PinkPussycat sorry I didn't see your message. That really touches me. I am so thrilled to hear that the kittens gave you a little lift Thanks Thanks mate!

Ancient and BigBird - thank you! They are little sweethearts, really. So cuddly - I'm sure it's because we've always been their world, y'know. I'm a lucky lucky girl!

I cannot believe that I missed this thread until today! Great job well done Pinot, they are beautiful fur babies!

Good advice on the pets at home vets, I'll be down there tomorrow.. I have a lovely 18 month old lodger who is pregnant for the 2nd time in close succession because the vet would not spay her until she was 100% finished lactating, I feel really guilty that I didn't get more stroppy with the outrageously expensive vet we won't be seeing again!

Happy Birthday to the grown up kittie-poozies.

(And Thanks to them and Pinot, the thread helped me so much when I was in a darkish place last year, the first thing I did each morning was to check on the kitties)

Ah, Bert (Bertram when he's being naughty and bringing me a dead magpie) is very active - this could be why he is such a skinny minny!

:)

Ginger sleeps 99% of the day :o (Bert is a great name!)

Awww, Pinot! Happy birthday kitties! How lovely to have this thread as a reminder of their escapades.

Your ginger one makes me laugh - he looks similar to my Bert (as I've said before) but is slightly fatter more cuddly.

Bert is all legs and tail, don't know how with the amount he eats though!

The kittens are celebrating their First Birthday today! Both are well and happy (and a bit fat on Dreamies treats - their abso favourites).

Two birthday photos added if you fancy a look :)

I love them so much, so very glad they chose us.

I am sure they will be fine. From experience, boys tend to wander futher than girls but they will no doubt stick together.

I am off to see some big cats on Friday, so look forward to reading about their exploits when I return.
