I think you can just keep going and eventually you get through it but it means that potty training might take weeks and weeks. For mine it was a matter of days and night training was literally an overnight thing. Can you not find a nursery that will take them in nappies? If not, I think I would keep going.

I think I will go start a new thread, for the meetup and see if it gets anywhere.

Kelly1978 · 03/04/2007 16:43

here we go, a meetup thread here

dingdongjustforyoufg · 03/04/2007 16:48

tbh overrun nursery saw a big set back for DT1, if you remember my despair back in Jan when she got through 3 sets of clothes a day Kelly's idea of focusing on the better twin could work - I seem to remember DT2 doing very well very quickly and once she startde to get rewarded DT1 soon followed (but DT1 copies everything DT2 does!)

1becomes3 · 03/04/2007 16:58

Finally I have made it after 36 weeks of non-stop fun I have had my DT's!!!!

born on the 27th march I had a little boy Zed 5lbs 7oz and a little girl Lola 5lbs 5oz.

They are fantastic little things. I am so

I have been attempting a bit of bf only Lola will latch on Zed is a bit lacking in suck reflex so doesn't feed from me I do express for him, so at the moment I always seem to have my norks hanging out with someing attached to the end of them.

I hope I can keep up the feeding when DH goes back to work but with my DD running riot I don't know how easy it will be.

As for sleep, well that is all they seem to do during the day and then they are up at night, so i have started waking them up during the day a bit more and they are sleeping a bit better at night.

I'm sure we will get into a routine soon, just trying to fine tune it at the moment.

Hope you are all well. I'm sure i will be back on here soon sitting at the bar with a g&t in my hand drowning my sorrows.

largeginandtonic · 03/04/2007 19:04

Oh massive congratulations 1becomes3!!! Such fabulous names too. I saw you had gone in on the other thread (quite a busy day on there!!)

Rosemerrin a meet up will be fab, will take you up on it as soon as im not couch bound, not too long to go now i hope.

Potty training, mmmmm. Not my fave thing to do, i am lazy and leave it till they want to. I thought nurseries couldnt refuse to take them now? Discrimination for pant wetters or something. I would leave it a couple of weeks, but leave the potty out. DS#4 is 2 and 3 months so we have a potty out but he creams if i take his nappy off and sit him on it

The twins were the best to train, they were 2 and a half and did it all in 3 weeks, dry beds too! DD took a few weeks but was still bed wetting at night at age 5. DS #3 was good too, he was almost 3 but asked to do it himself. New pants was all it took

Niot sure if that helps at all, they are all different. Hugo clearly has some kind of potty phobia and with a new baby expected soon it would probably be pointless anyway as he may regress.

Mars heloooo, i think he may have turned.........we will see

frumpygrumpy · 03/04/2007 19:58

OMG Congratulations!!! Nice weights, lovely names xxx.

I can't read the meet up thread as DP is due back from the purveyor of Chinese food any moment and I promised to have laid out plates, candles, lit the fire and be lying naked on the table like geishas do

Lots of love

Steve

Congratulations 1becomes3. Lovely names and weights - well done you.

rosmerrin · 03/04/2007 22:31

Congratulations 1becomes3 - takes me back and makes me all broody - I must be nuts!

Overrun - tbh I put off potty training for as long as I thought I could get away with it, but I was very lucky as my DTs preschool would take them in nappies aged 2. I finally bit the bullet on the day after their third birthday and I must say it was the hardest thing we have done so far with them. We were lucky because it was June and warm so we had them in the garden and my MIL came for 2 weeks to help. DT2 was much better at it and was dry within a week, barring a couple of minor accidents. DT1 took about 4 weeks to be dry and has only just stopped pooing in pants about 2 weeks ago (10 months of scraping poo out of pants can really damage your sense of humour). It sounds like you are doing all you can at the moments - I'm afraid I can only offer sympathy, not a lot of advice. I agree that Mars seems to be the fount of all knowledge on most things and I would love to know what she suggests.

Kelly1978 · 04/04/2007 09:14

does anyone elses twins seem to get their names muddled up? Both of them call each other shay or assha, it's strange. They know the older two's names, but they seem to both want to be called shay, even pointing to photos of themselves.
They did start calling each other bhai (brother in gujarati) for a while, maybe I should jsut encourage that again, it was sweet.

It was very quiet on here in the end last night, did no one open the gin in the end? I msut admit, I had an early night in the end.

dingdongjustforyoufg · 04/04/2007 09:41

I had an early night too kelly, am trying to store up some sleep in anticipation of getting very little whilst sharing with the DTs over the weekend...I might have to take some medised with me
