My favourite is Five Minutes Peace. Funnily enough, I have found myself shouting, to quote Mrs Large "I need five minutes peace, from YOU lot" She is a darling elephant.

Where the hell is everyone? I mean, I say I might not be about much and they all disappear and desert me for sunny corners of their gardens!

I went to the gym today I am a virgin no more.

It was ok but my god, do I have to go back? I won't know what buttons to press on the machines without the nice girl standing beside me. I am going to be the one that hits the emergency stop on the treadmill and ends up with a broken nose and blood everywhere

I'm here FG!! Had a facial this morning and the woman said I felt "tight" in my shoulders. No bloody surprise there! ANyway, it was v v relaxing, even the bit where she put what felt like gauze over my face, covered it in a mask and then put cotton pads over my eyes and left me alone for 20 minutes.......I must have looked like a Mummy! As in not the yummy variety.

rosmerrin · 02/04/2007 17:49

Evening all.

Harrogatemum - did you feel dizzy when you got up afterwards. I had my first facial a few months ago (shame - facial virgin!) and it was lovely - included a back and head massage, very relaxing but I found it hard to stand up straight afterwards - everything spinning!

Harrogatemum · 02/04/2007 20:07

hi rosmerrin - yes very much so. Plus I was a bit chilly as I'm five foot eleven and my feet were hanging off the bottom of the treatment table!

dingdongjustforyoufg · 02/04/2007 20:19

evening ladies I have had a lovely day today, a taste of what my life could be like I'm on school hols this week but DH is still at work, oh bliss! DTs slept in even the bunny clock didn't wake them so we got to nursery late, I went to the gym (same building) then had a leisurely cappuccino before getting my hair cut and highlighted, met a couple of friends for lunch then went shopping - I could get used to this!

DH bought me a half day spa treatment thing for christmas which I haven't used yet - I'm hoping to go in a couple of weeks when he's off work and can experience the joys of being home alone with the DTs all day...

tkband3 · 02/04/2007 22:28

Five Minutes' Peace is one of my faves as well FG. Must remember to read it to my lot soon in the hope they get the hint .

I had a facial when OH and I had our weekend away last year - most relaxing hour I've had in 2 years . I think I dropped off when she left me on my own - hope I wasn't snoring when she came back in cos I sometimes do when lying on my back .

Anyone else suffered the terrible twos with their DTs? Fortunately it's just DT1 at the moment. She is the most intense of my 3 girls and always takes things personally but she really is taking things to extremes at the moment. Screamed all the way through a story at bedtime this evening cos I let DT2 choose instead of her - then screamed when I wouldn't read it again (I'd already read another book twice!). Poor little thing isn't 100% at the mo' so I'm sure that's not helping but she really is living up to her age at the moment. I'm choosing the ignoring strategy for now in the hope that she'll see it's not getting her anywhere. Just hoping that DT2 doesn't start as well - for now, she just looks at me and says 'Edie cying again' with a world weary look on her face .

rosmerrin · 02/04/2007 22:28

Oh dingdong that sounds like a wonderful day, just like a real live person! - and not just a mummy!

Harrogatemum · 03/04/2007 07:47

tkb - mine are just like that - if you give them the wrong coloured cup at bedtime, they have a nervous breakdown.

DT1 gets upset and has a big paddy if he tries to pick up a bit of food with his fork and some of it falls off - he screams "Broken" at the top of his lungs and wont eat any more.......

And they both refuse to eat their yogurts if it doesnt have their favourite Thomas character on the side of it. Bloody terrible twos.

And dingdong - your day sounds heavenly. I am feeling a bit groundhog day at the mo, I love them dearly but there is only so much washing, ironing, cooking, tidying up, jigsaws, drawing, obstacle courses, reading and playing that one human being can do.........do I sound like a crap mum?

rosmerrin · 03/04/2007 08:35

Lol HG - my DT2 (4 in June) pitches a fit if his toast breaks or is cut the wrong way and wont eat it. And dont get me started on broken biscuits!

You dont sound like a crap mum to me - just a normal one. There really is a limit on the number of jigsaws one woman can do before losing her mind - I know from bitter experience.

TK&B - been there - we have to take turns at turning over the pages and flaps on the bedtime stories, except now they have favourite flaps and remember who has to start the story so that they get the ones they want - nightmare.

Kelly1978 · 03/04/2007 08:56

Oooh I hate jigsaws. We don't have any in the house I think i bought some for dd, when she was small, but the pieces jsut get lost.
I must be quite lucky though, I've never had a regimental toddler.

dingdong that sounds soo nice. My dts are going to a preschool in the leisure center too, so I'll be able to do all that in the same building. I can't wait!
I'm getting desperate for a break, everywhere I look there are small faces demanding things. Only 4 days to go now. We have a playdate this morning, and it looks like it is goign to rain, so I'm goign to be clinging on to my sanity by a thread. Nooo!

tkband3 · 03/04/2007 09:18

dingdong I forgot to say how lovely your day yesterday sounded...probably because I was v. !

it's good to know I'm not alone with the terrible two's. And yes, we hate broken biscuits here and god forbid I should try and help with a particularly stubborn piece of pasta or something - that spells the end of the meal and complete meltdown.

My 2 start pre-school after Easter and I can't wait! Only problem is I can't afford to pay for their fees and the cleaning lady so I'll have to spend the time they're at school cleaning instead! Still at least I will be on my own and can listen to loud music of my choice whilst I do it!!

largeginandtonic · 03/04/2007 10:51

Dingdong v of your lovely day! Heaven.....

The dts used to go nuts at things like that, id forgotten. It always had to be the right cup\bowl etc or tea time would degenerate in to chaos. Toast being cut up right was another one! Blimmin nightmare, the others have not been that bothered. Maybe im just not phased by the ensuing tantrum so they give up quickly now. I also have matching plastic cups

Although im still couch relegated at the moment i am hopeful that i will make it to 36 weeks and be able to resume a life I would love to meet up with those Devon\Cornwall dwellers for animal prodding at Trago or similar child activity nightmare. I will bring a flask of ginandtonic...i mean coffee

dingdongjustforyoufg · 03/04/2007 12:26

LOL at all the !

My two are just the same HM, DT2 in particular has to have things just so (sounds a bit like your DT1 tkb) and DT1 just copies what ever DT2 does, so its generally mayhem - I don't want to depress you too much but this started as they turned 2 and is still going on 15 months later...

Am having another lovely day today so far, nursery, gym, coffee, shops (food not clothes though ) then home to find cleaner here

rosmerrin · 03/04/2007 13:48

LG&T - Very brave of you to be even thinking of a meet up! Maybe mention it again when it has settled down a bit in your household and we will see what we can do. Who else is in the Devon/Cornwall area other than us?

Harrogatemum · 03/04/2007 14:23

I thought we were having a nationwide meet up - where is Mars when you need her??!!

Come on ladies - I am emigrating to Australia next year (and will be known as BrisbaneMum instead) so if we dont get our skates on I'm not going to get to meet any of you!!!

rosmerrin · 03/04/2007 14:37

Sorry - didnt mean to cancel any other meet up! Unfortunately we are right in the very south west so unlikely to make it up country! Not that I wouldn't love to put faces to the names!

dingdongjustforyoufg · 03/04/2007 14:45

We must have a meet up at FG's as its the only way to get her involved, but don't tell her, or she'll just think of excuses to get out of it

Must meet before you flee the country HM, a sunny summer's day somewhere between you and me where the DTs can run wild without scaring too many people would be good

piximon · 03/04/2007 16:05

Yesterday was lovely, everyone in a good mood, went out to play with the DCs in the sunshine.

Today is terrible.
DS1 is over tired, he will not have a nap and is winding everyone else up. DTs have missed most of their naptimes and are very whingy and
I am now the owner of a thumping headache.
DH was out last night and on call this week so not much help from him to be had when he gets back later. Roll on bedtime.

Since I got pg with the twins my taste for alcohol has dissappeared completely. Tonight I'm going to attempt to find it. Anyone wanna join me?

Overrun · 03/04/2007 16:14

Hello every one. This is a special distress call for all you Twin Mums who have potty trained your darling dts
My two are supposed to be starting nursery on the 24th, and they wont be accepted if they are not potty trained.
I tried them a couple of weeks ago, and no go. Today has been a complete disaster, I just don't think they are ready.
Part of me thinks I should just accept that and give up graciously, but the part of me that is desperate for them to go, can't give up yet.
Any tips?
What I am doing: I am doing the naked from bottom down thing or with nice new pants that they enjoy wearing. I have two potties downstairs and two upstairs. I am putting them on every 30 minutes, and also giving them a chocolate as incentive for anthing that is done in the potty.
They also enjoy washing their hands with squity soap. So they are quite happy to sit on the potty or toilet seat for a little while, and we have had a few wees and one poo. Dt2 is slightly better thand dt1
But we have had countless accidents of both kinds from both boys. They do tell me that they have done something sometimes, but not before it happens.
God, what a nightmare

dingdongjustforyoufg · 03/04/2007 16:27

Oh god overrun I don't envy you! I'd probably give up for another couple of weeks, you are already doing everything we did - but we had the advantage of it being warmer so they were in the garden where accidents don't matter so much!

Mine were 2.5 when we started, took to it pretty quickly, but DT1 took longer and was still having the occasional accident (esp in the car ) 2 months later. A friend of mine also with DTs (girls like mine) didn't start until they were 2.10 and they took to it mich quicker.

dingdongjustforyoufg · 03/04/2007 16:28

Oh go on then Pixi, since its in a good cause

Kelly1978 · 03/04/2007 16:31

Now you know fg won't do meetups because 'she' is really a hairy handed trucker named Steve.

I'd love to do a meetup, we need to plot all of our locations and find somewhere central. London might be the best bet really, as it is easy for everyone to get there. If it was going to be midweek I'd have no problems putting someone up at mine neither for a night, if they didn't mind a room with a bunk bed, ready beds/travels cots for the kids.

I'm sorry I have no idea about potty training dts. With my odler two I jsut waited until they decided they were interested and they mostly trained themselves. dd was nearly 2, ds1 was 3. It's a bugger about the nursery. Mine are going soon, and they will change wet nappies but not poo ones, so we're jsut going to manage best we can. No way am I attempting it yet. Mars is prob the best to ask, but what I would do is maybe concentrate on the better dt and hope the other follows.

Kelly1978 · 03/04/2007 16:32

I'm supposed to be Revising I might be tempted into partaking a swift G&T later though. I must use up those lemons before the weekend.

Overrun · 03/04/2007 16:36

Thanks for responses. Do you think that it is damaging to keep trying. I have read that you should try and then if not working give it a rest. But if I do this, then my next attempt will be the week before nursery starts
Good luck with your revision. Is this meet up actually going to happen then?
