My rent has just increased,I’m single live alone I’ve worked out after I’ve paid rent, bills, and food I’m left with £175 for the month, does anyone else live on this?

@dizzydizzydizzy will they really though if she’s working 30 hours

I doubt it. She just needs to meet the AET for single people which is roughly £950 which OP seems to be earning over.

Will they really do what? Give her UC? Give her some rent money? Make her apply for jobs?

They will almost certainly make her apply for jobs or get more hours with her current employer. I can’t answer the rest for sure but I think it would be worth an application.

@dizzydizzydizzy They won't.

You work part time just like OP, but you seem to think that you are in a position to look down on her and scold her about even considering checking whether she is eligible for some benefits.

You relying on your high earning DH doesn't give you any moral authority to lecture the OP. Plus, you can't choose what your taxes pay for. I doubt that you pay much tax on your little part-time job anyway.

Well said!! I wouldn’t rely on a ‘rich’ husband either. At the end of the day the OP is in a better position than you really: at least she can afford all of her bills on her own, albeit a bit tight. I imagine you couldn’t do the same without your husband funding your lifestyle.

Surely the pokt of the thread is met? There’s no need to keep the tennis match going as it’s getting a bit vicious.
