Well ... it's been one hell of a month hasn't it? I hope everyone is safe and well (and not going too mad with kids and partners at home!). As always, referral links and new starters are welcome, think we're all going to need a boost financially over the next few months.

Just noticed my active processes had decreased on A*n. Does this mean they don't want me? Some of them were back in projects I've not yet qualified for, so I've applied again, but just wondering if I'm eating my time?

Suebnm · 21/04/2020 11:15

@Wheelyyyy

You can't interact with the dashboard only with the UI which you should have separate logins for.
Once in the UI you click and go.

Wheelyyyy · 21/04/2020 11:30

@suebnm thank you xx

When i go in i can see three tabs. Thinking these must be the three things i can work on, is that right?

Why do we need to know the que numbers that are on dashboard?

Suebnm · 21/04/2020 11:33

@Wheelyyyy

No, you can only work on two things. With slack you don't announce you're working and nor do you need to worry about schedule shifts or roll calls if you are just starting out.

Some people only work when there are more than a certain amount so it is handy to know.

rhij86 · 21/04/2020 11:37

@ifuckarses I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some of it will be for projects that have now finished. If any drop back into my 'not yet qualified for' page I always re-apply - you never know!
Over the last month my active processes have dropped from about 25 down to 9.

SorryDidISayThatOutLoud · 21/04/2020 11:39

Wheelyyyy, best not to discuss on here. I will send you a PM.

BertieBotts · 21/04/2020 11:46

How come new people are getting into potato when I've been on the waiting list since Jan and heard nothing? Weird.

I def am nowhere near a fiver a day on prolific. I do the same tactic with the open tab but it's more like a fiver a week/fortnight.

ifuckarses · 21/04/2020 12:06

@rhij86 Ah thanks! After I posted I saw that they drop off after 60 days so probably that.

Really hoping to get on to a good project that has regular guaranteed work, if such a thing exists!

ruralwanderer · 21/04/2020 12:23

@Wheelyyyy, no, Intellizoom is a different company. Their link is in the opening post :)

@Curdsandwhey, might be worth emailing them? I heard back really quickly and was getting sent links to the higher paying tasks within a week. Your message may have gone to spam or there could have been a glitch in the system.

lynsey91 · 21/04/2020 12:43

@BertieBotts I passed the exam for potato last June and have heard nothing since!

Flube · 21/04/2020 13:27

@rhij86 thanks for the heads up on the LB tasks. A bit late, I know. Internet issues.

I managed an hour later in the evening, actually 3hours but only an hour of submitted tasks due to repeatedly losing connection. Unsurprisingly, I gave up. Hmm

Touch wood, connection appears good today. Logged on and managed 1 task this morning, and then run out. Sods law.

MrsPretzels · 21/04/2020 13:37

@BertieBotts @lynsey91 those who have recently been accepted were waiting a while iirc, think they accept applicants in batches. Hopefully you won't have too much longer to wait. I only applied last month so prepared for a long wait ahead..

I jumped back on prolific last week and managed £14 so far so worth checking in when you have a spare few mins during the day.

Also been enjoying clickworker uhrs recently. But does anyone else find it sometimes says no more tasks available/ all tasks have been leased out even though it says there's xxx hits available on the home page?

BertieBotts · 21/04/2020 13:40

Aah OK that makes sense :)

Apparently UHRS number of hits doesn't update in real time, just periodically. So if there is a large number of people working on the app, the hits will still show even if they are gone.

0hmygoodness · 21/04/2020 14:03

Well I made it onto potatoes too but the more I do, the more confused and less confident I get.

I'm a little uncertain who I ask my silly questions to. Anyone able to point me in the right direction please?

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/04/2020 15:14

Ifuck- I went from 38 processes down to 21 at one point, Appen say they hold your application for 60 days so that might be why, though that said, I have a few that have been in "processes" for over a year now!

3dogsnorth · 21/04/2020 15:31

I've received an email from Lionbridge re map analyst. Does anyone do this? Is this the task with the horrendous test? Just wondering if it's worth investing time in. Any advice very welcome

Tohaveandtohold · 21/04/2020 17:07

@BertieBotts, I’ve been on the wait list since May 27 last year but I’ve not heard from them. The way they recruit is so random so it’s nothing to do with what you’ve done or not done.

ZetaPuppis · 21/04/2020 20:00

@3dogsnorth I sent you a pm

TomTomRunner · 21/04/2020 21:06

Anybody new just started on Potato could you PM me?

TomTomRunner · 21/04/2020 21:18

@0hmygoodness Have you just qualified to work and recently started?

TomTomRunner · 21/04/2020 21:24

@lynsey91 I waited around 11 months ...... just got on.

Fedupandpoor · 21/04/2020 21:46

Glad to see I'm not the only new potato that is totally confused! 😂 Seems to be a steep learning curve.

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/04/2020 22:16

I opened my 847 (seems like) potato emails from lots of different people and gave up and came to bed.
I might have to give up my proper job to read all the stuff and that would defeat the object of waiting over a year to get in!

curdsandwhey · 22/04/2020 06:01

If you happen to wake up at 4 or 5am it's well worth checking Prolific. I've just filled in two surveys. The researchers are in different countries around the world so they appear at various times of day. Only downside is that most of them can't be done on a mobile phone in bed, so you do need to get up and log in to your computer.
