Well ... it's been one hell of a month hasn't it? I hope everyone is safe and well (and not going too mad with kids and partners at home!). As always, referral links and new starters are welcome, think we're all going to need a boost financially over the next few months.

The second time I tried, I did it as fast as I could. I couldn't believe I was timed out, hopefully it's wrong and will be amended

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 18:50

@Kaylsar - if it's the same as last time it is the first five but not ads or multi video youtube results

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 18:52

Oh gosh, I see things are going well for those of you that have managed to log in Hmm Confused

Piss ups and breweries come to mind!

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 18:56

@margaritasbythesea - do you have a future date to pay it by? To at least give you time to look into it?

I don't have children so no CB here but as far as I understand it voluntary NI contributions go to bumping up your state pension amount. If that's correct and you can afford it then I would pay.

P.S. I though self-assessment was in January, that's when I did mine? Worried I should be doing something else now but haven't received any emails about it.

Loopyteddy · 20/04/2020 18:56

@DarkPassenger i had problems logging in to start with, I realised my laptop had changed the password to my A one rather than my saved F8 password. Once I changed that I logged in ok.

unicornpoopoop · 20/04/2020 19:11

Where does it say what the time limit is and where do you find the timer on Bane?

justtheonethen · 20/04/2020 19:16

@Fedupandpoor oh I see . Yes have a read of the monitoring ones else you can't get in.

@unicornpoopoop they have taken away the timer and I think the time per page is 2 mins- certainly it times out after that.

I actually think the b@ne project is doable. I used my own timer and I can do it in 1 minute. Then by the time I've checked I haven't duplicated I have a few seconds to breathe and the submit at 1:45. It's too quick for comfort though. I certainly couldn't do hours in a row like that.

justtheonethen · 20/04/2020 19:17

And my email was worded as if I was just starting too Hmm

AVL · 20/04/2020 19:18

@unicornpoopoop There is no timer, but there is a RPH mentioned which you can work out the time allowed per page.

justtheonethen · 20/04/2020 19:18

@unicornpoopoop - they say a rate per hour rather than a time- the RPH is 30 so 2 mins each task.

margaritasbythesea · 20/04/2020 19:20

Darkpassenger - I can't find out whether if I opt not to pay it now i can pay it later, even. So much information, so few answers. I guess that's why the phone lines are always jammed.

I think the deadline is the end of January. But you can do it any time up to then.

Catatemyhomework · 20/04/2020 19:25

@DarkPassenger, Appen now own figure eight. The email and password is the same as you had previously for figure eight. That's what I did anyway

justtheonethen · 20/04/2020 19:27

@margaritasbythesea you can pay them at anytime through your gov.uk account. I don't know if you should or not. I don't, but I have just paid some so I get my maternity pay.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 20/04/2020 19:42

Ba* seems ok to me, i've done 10 without timing out. Fingers crossed!

margaritasbythesea · 20/04/2020 19:46

Thanks for that justtheonethen. I suppose I could not pay it and then check if I have the year covered for basic state pension when it has all been processed.

Gatekeeper · 20/04/2020 19:51

I am getting timed out every time in B**e. Spock- how on earth are you managing to research and click on and then cut and paste 5 urls?????.

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 19:52

I got in by doing a reset password request as I saw this mentioned on Ap chat. I was down to 2 attempts so didn't want to risk being locked out.

I've just managed 30 tasks in about 45 minutes but it's fast going and barely any checking for location relevancy.

Last time was mostly P.2 and I had a break every hout but at this rate I'm going to break every 45 mins. It's hard on the hands even using my keyboard to shortcut everything.

Fag and fresh cup of tea then I'll get back to it. Antone want to lay bets on there being no tasks left? Grin

Gatekeeper · 20/04/2020 19:53

in 2 minutes

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 19:54

My research is basically 'Is it relevant? yes, keep going, no close tab and try the next link' Accuracy may be down but they can't have everything. As I said in PP location isn't really coming into it and I don't think the geoloc is working as it should as I've had results local to me.

527040minutes · 20/04/2020 19:56

Is anyone on B* having issues with the geosearch button? Google'a still telling me that I'm in my actual location, not sure how I fix it, especially given the new time limit!

RamblingFar · 20/04/2020 19:56

Gave up for a break 100 minutes into B*.

The new timings seem odd with how they wanted us to spend longer the first time and check everything was OK.

I timed-out about 5 times. It's OK most of the time. But occasionally you need to check something, or correct a box and then you run out of time. I can't see the timer either. I got about 80 done in that time I think, so it's not like I'm going slow.

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 19:57

@Gatekeeper

Results page - hold down Ctrl to open your five links, quick check of each for relevancy.

If all OK close the results page, if any crap close the tab and open the next results link,

Click on URL to highlight, ctrl & C to copy, ctrl and w to close tab, go back to workpage, ctrl and v then tab.

Next results page repeat again, make sure to tab after ctrl and V to ensure you are in your next URL field for your next ctrl V.

Hope that makes sense.

ifuckarses · 20/04/2020 20:00

I'm finding it okay. There's very little research required, just first 5 URLs. Not our problem geolocation doesn't work, and they sure as hell aren't giving us time to actually pay any attention. I think it's literally a case of yep - query ok, open link, copy and paste first five that aren't ads. I think it'll just be part 3 where you'll need to research.

This really has been a shit storm, however I think they fucked up with their timings at the start and were far too generous and if we're honest we all took the piss a bit. No excuse for their behaviour, they could have just explained it and made changes.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 20/04/2020 20:03

Honestly, I don't even open the pages. I just copy the link straight from google. It says you can do this from chrome in the guidelines, or it did last time! You are not checking the relevancy in this part. Just listing the top 5 links.

DarkPassenger · 20/04/2020 20:05

Ooooo, very logical Spock. I've thrown my chips in the fryer as realised I've only eaten a few crackers with cheese today so I'm risking making my tea before I go back. So glad I peeled and chipped before seeing the link email!

I'll have a quick check of the guidliens and try your way if they say it's OK.
