£10 a day thread, January part two

I'm so happy to see the thread has been ticking along with so many new people joining us Grin

It's been a shitty couple of weeks for me. I started out the new year with an awful sore throat, and it turns out I have glandular fever, so I've been too exhausted for any serious money making.

I'm actually really enjoying Chip! It's proving to be a great way to stash all the little bits of money from profilic etc. so I can see it actually adding up to something.

This morning I've switched bank accounts (£100 for joining, then £100 if I leave unhappy in six months) and managed to reduce my life insurance policy by £9 a month, and get £85 cashback for doing so via Quidco, so I'm trying to be productive.

Hope everyone is having a good January.

I'm in Germany, so I expect they are totally different.

GachaBread · 13/01/2020 21:27

@BertieBotts ah I see!
You have a valid point as the jobs totally blew my mind when I went to Barcelona last year. Stick with it though

Tohaveandtohold · 13/01/2020 21:31

I have another Freetrade referral invite if anyone needs it
freetrade.io/freeshare/?code=A6GI703362&sender=VgmYaFG5

spacepoppers · 13/01/2020 21:35

@GachaBread yes that's the one! oh that makes me feel much better about it now, I felt a bit annoyed with myself today as I thought I was clearly being thick! Will give that a hard swerve from now on Smile

GachaBread · 13/01/2020 21:37

@spacepoppers their is a task called impulse hunt as well flying around on the app today.

Do not do that either. Too much work for too little pay. They are not worth it and you can easily get something wrong which will result in reject.

Look out for the Bon A pet treat jobs. £3 each and you will be in and out within 2 minutes. They have been putting loads of them up today.

Flower power jobs on a Thursday. They come on all through the day in all major supermarkets. 2 mins in and out for £3.50 each.

Refresh the app every 15 minutes too as jobs come on those intervals when they decide to post them.

Boobahs · 13/01/2020 21:44

I've had £5 from Intellizoom and £13 from Neevo today Smile

GachaBread · 13/01/2020 21:47

@spacepoppers As you get more comfortable with BeMyEye you will see that their is loads of work available. January is just being really slow for work at the moment. Stick with it and don't give up on it as their is a lot of money to be made with it.

spacepoppers · 13/01/2020 21:52

@GachaBread thanks for the reassurance, I will definitely stick with it and look out for those jobs. I'll let you know how I'm getting on!

KnowBetterDoBetter · 13/01/2020 22:20

Just checking in. Still plodding on with n*le, need to start crisping more often. It's hard to fit it in with uni and work etc. but I got my first Appen payment today which made me very happy!

Just a little reminder to whoever used my Freetrade link from the last thread - I was so excited to see what share I got, but I don't get it until you top up a pound, and I won't get any more links if you don't either Sad would be very grateful if you could! Thanks Smile

SpirallingThroughAnotherDay · 13/01/2020 22:22

Checking in! My first payment from Neevo arrived today... I'm very happy about that GrinI'm Just waiting on a couple of prolific surveys to be accepted to cash out £10 and my first statement from Crisp to arrive, I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere thanks to you lot! Grin also still waiting to hear from Rev, I'm not overly confident I'll pass but after reading the reviews I'm not sure how I feel about it now anyway.

Glittersocks · 13/01/2020 22:49

Ah, @Otterses thanks for the new thread, and hope you feel better soon. Take it easy.

Anyone wanting to try online teaching and needing to get a TEFL qualification can get the courses on Groupon. There are usually a few to choose from. I started one but couldn’t find the time or focus to finish, ahem Blush

I mentioned this on the other thread but there’s lots of info on Lionbridge, also Appen and similar co’s on Tim Allen’s blog passleapforceexams. I found it helpful for Lionbridge exams.

Catatemyhomework · 13/01/2020 23:06

I signed up with Bet Fair and Coral today. It took some courage. I haven't placed my trigger bet yet as when I looked on the actual sites they look much more daunting than the examples I have watched on Team Profit. I think I need to do a bit more research first. I've gone from thinking I basically know what I'm doing to realising I actually don't! Any matched bettors out there who have any words of wisdom for that first trigget bet? All help gratefully received! Smile Also, will I definitely get a free bet when I place my trigger bet? I'm panicking now that I won't!

spacepoppers · 14/01/2020 07:04

@Catatemyhomework I felt exactly like that also! The Team Profit site has a page of suggestions for your trigger bet to make it easier, once you've done a couple you can move on to using Oddsmonkey....at least that's my plan. Once you've decided on your trigger bet you can always put the name of one of the teams into say the coral search bar and it will appear for you to place your bet. As @themoneyshed always says, once you've done the first one or two it all starts to make sense!

Catatemyhomework · 14/01/2020 08:06

Thanks @spacepoppers, I have made my first mistake! When I registered with Coral, I assigned my PayPal account as I don't yet have the card for my new bank account that I set up. Anyway, I read the small print and the free bonus offers to new members are not available with certain accounts, PayPal being one of them. I will phone them today and ask if I can change the bank I signed up with. I thought I'd post this so that no one else gets caught out by this. Thankfully, I haven't placed any bets yet!

thinsulation · 14/01/2020 08:56

Is anyone else here using gener8? It's an advertising company that gives you tokens for seeing their ads, you need to install an add-on to your chrome or firefox browser.

I work from home so spend a lot of time on the computer and using the internet for research, so am racking up a lot of their tokens. When you reach 100, you can supposedly redeem them for a £5 amazon giftcard. I'm on 31 tokens after 1 week of use.

Big caveat is that you also need to refer two people and have them sign up to be able to redeem the points.

Sneaky invite link -

Can someone give me a dummies guide on how to get going?

I am due to start maternity leave in March and am very worried about the drop in pay so would like to try some of the websites on here to top up my income once my 6 months full pay turns to SMP and then nothing (although I understand it takes a while to be accepted).

What I don't understand is the tax aspect. I know I would have to declare the earnings and some of you are doing it on a self employed basis. How does it work for someone already working full time? How do I go about doing it the right way as I don't want to get hit with a big tax bill if I do it wrong.

Catatemyhomework · 14/01/2020 09:23

So I got an email back from Appen saying they are at full full capacity for Calawotsit. I was really hoping to get onto that project too. Things are slow work wise at the moment. Hoping it picks up soon. Teeny tiny job from Neevo taking selfies but only $1.

themoneyshed · 14/01/2020 09:24

@WillingSpringTime

Tax and self employed (including when you work full time and do this as well) is covered here

blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/setting-up-as-a-sole-trader/

In terms of a “beginners guide” I would suggest starting with our “20 work from home jobs for mums” post which covers £5000+ of income which should get you off to a good start

blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/20-work-from-home-jobs-for-mums/

@Catatemyhomework

ALWAYS use debit cards for sign up offers. It should be saying that in the offer instructions. Go with Oddsmonkey or Profit Accumulator as there is honestly a reason why the paid options are better and £17 a month means nothing when you are bringing in hundreds a month extra. I’ve covered the advantages here

blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/what-is-matched-betting/

DontCallMeDarling · 14/01/2020 09:26

@WillingSpringTime

You would have to register for self-assessment with HMRC once you earned over the £1000 allowance. The self-assessment form has space to declare your employment earnings plus the tax already paid on it (all of this information will be on your p60). The calculations will then take into account all of this information before working out how much tax is owed.

rhij86 · 14/01/2020 09:44

does anyone work for takenote? what's the pay/work volume like?

MoreMoneyPlease · 14/01/2020 09:51

Can I ask if anyone has been asked if they are willing to rate potentially offensive material on Appen? I don't want to see anything horrible but I don't want to lessen my chances of work! If you said yes, have you seen anything too bad?

whereareyousleep · 14/01/2020 09:52

Total for January so far is a grand total of..........£5.70!

I've signed up for every possible thing spent 4 hours last night doing the Rev, utest and Appen tests as I managed to borrow a laptop so hoping somethings going to come from one of those soon. Not sure what much else I can do now Sad

rhij86 · 14/01/2020 09:53

@moremoneyplease I said I was fine with it, not seen anything offensive (apart from perhaps the odd swear word?) since September

Catatemyhomework · 14/01/2020 09:56

Thanks@themoneyshed, I know it was a silly mistake to make. Luckily I realised before I placed a bet. I will ring Coral and try and get it sorted. Their website is down at the moment for essential maintenance. Do you recommend Profit Accumulator or Odds Monkey? Which do you think is best for a newbie? Thanks.

Boobahs · 14/01/2020 10:02

I've just set up a Monzo account for when I pluck up the courage (and find some cash) to start MB Confused
