£10 a day thread, January part two

I'm so happy to see the thread has been ticking along with so many new people joining us Grin

It's been a shitty couple of weeks for me. I started out the new year with an awful sore throat, and it turns out I have glandular fever, so I've been too exhausted for any serious money making.

I'm actually really enjoying Chip! It's proving to be a great way to stash all the little bits of money from profilic etc. so I can see it actually adding up to something.

This morning I've switched bank accounts (£100 for joining, then £100 if I leave unhappy in six months) and managed to reduce my life insurance policy by £9 a month, and get £85 cashback for doing so via Quidco, so I'm trying to be productive.

Hope everyone is having a good January.

@justtheonethen that's a good idea. I tend to do blocks of 3 or 4 hours straight without breaks and find it tiring. It seems crazy to not do the work when it's available all the time!

girlicorne · 22/01/2020 19:09

@ifuckarses I ve made about £1200 on Appen each of the last two months and I work full time as well and have two kids at two schools so four school runs a day so I d say £800 a month was doable you just need something like crisp or a 20 hours a week long term Appen project. My Appen projects finished end of December apart from my one hour a day one but I m now aiming for £1000 a month on Crisp to cover DDs school fees!

girlicorne · 22/01/2020 19:12

Experienced Crispers please, do you find your pay is more than what it says on your dashboard at the end of the month and if so how much more? In December when I was just on the training materials I was doing about £13 an hour but now I m on the live stuff it looks like I m only doing about £7 an hour. I didn’t check my dashboard in December so didn’t know what to expect before I got my statement and I was pleasantly surprised but now I m making a lot less than I hoped!!😢

DollyDiddles · 22/01/2020 19:20

BTW, What is PPI in Crisp? I just stick to Mod2 but really struggle for motivation.

@DollyDiddles ppi is mod2/mon - it stands for pay per item

Lougle · 22/01/2020 19:33

I really need either Crisp or Appen to come through!

I've gone a bit mad with UTest and have spent hours on it. It's worth it, because I'm learning loads, but I'm tired.

I had to turn down a test case today because I couldn't make head nor tail of it and the testing window was only 21 hours, so not enough time to find out.

Tefiti2 · 22/01/2020 19:40

To all wise earners out there - are there any opportunities that can be done mostly on an iPhone? I haven’t had a look at crisp and Appen but I’m guessing you would need a laptop for them, mine has recently gone kapoot so looking to earn a bit before replacing it! Currently have found Prolific and Clickworkers to be great on my iPhone however lots of the projects on utest require a laptop too.

DollyDiddles · 22/01/2020 19:44

@justtheonethen Aha! Thanks for that! That is what I am doing.

Do you you have to be asked if you want shifts or do you just go on and see if you can book some on that Humanity link thing?

What are the benefits in booking shifts? I assume it is guaranteed content in times where it might be slow? Is the pay better for shifts in that is is NOT PPI?

I am not earning a good hourly rate at all. I need to get quicker but I fear making mistakes. I find mod2 easier than monitoring, do you?

Lougle · 22/01/2020 19:52

Thank you to the people who helped with FreeTrade. I got a £4.54 share and a £3.28 share. Add the £0.86 share I bought with my top up, and I have an £8.84 portfolio Smile

justtheonethen · 22/01/2020 19:52

@DollyDiddles I used to find mod2 easier but I forced myself to do monitoring and I find that much quicker now as there are less options on the tree to plough through generally. The shifts I was asked but they sometimes ask for people on s lack. If you have been on there for more than 3 months you could always ask them? The perks are exactly that- guaranteed hourly rate which is great for quiet times. Pay isn't better than I can do in ppi but I find it easier so that is worth it to me. It's £10/11 depending on which you do.

justtheonethen · 22/01/2020 19:53

@Tefiti2 my appen project is all done on mobile.

DollyDiddles · 22/01/2020 20:01

@justtheonethen Thanks for that info. I will have another go at monitoring to try and speed up a bit.

When you book shifts, are the tasks the same as you come across in Mod2/Mon ? I keep seeing people mention a well known drink, a kids' toy, and S.......r? Are these what are included in the shifts or something different? If different, do you get additional training?

Sorry for all the questions! These are things that have been puzzling me for a while. I have just back into these threads so have missed the opportunity to ask before.

Also, I am only averaging about £3-4 an hour at the moment, which I know I need to improve on. Surely they wouldn't let me do a shift at £10ph when I am not currently achieving that on PPI?

Thanks in advance for answering my queries! I am very grateful and I have been getting so confused at home on my own. It can get very lonely sometimes with no colleague sitting next to you to ask! I am sure you know what I mean!

toastytea · 22/01/2020 20:02

@Tefiti2 my long term appen task is done by iPhone and gets me approx £300 a month. Go for it! I'm still waiting on crisp. Applied at least 6 months ago and passed test first time - there's a big waiting list for that one! All depends tho, you could fit the right demographic and get straight on.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained Grin

Boobahs · 22/01/2020 20:15

Hi all, I've been invited to some assignments in the Lionbridge Social Media Evaluators Labour Cloud but I can't seem to find out the requirements of them on the WorkMarket app. There's 15 of them all with the same title and different payments by them, but other than some hours being different when I click through, I'm not sure what's expected. For example, I don't want to apply to one if it's 20 hours a week with certain hours in certain days as I cannot commit to that much! Anyone else have this?

justtheonethen · 22/01/2020 20:31

@DollyDiddles they only care about accuracy so that won't hold you back from getting shifts. It's different tasks mainly- apart from the kids game- have a look in the wiki- all the shift info is in there. Pm me if you want, happy to go into more detail but not sure how much I can say on here. It is a bit lonely with no colleague to bounce off.

@Catatemyhomework @Glittersocks I messed up earlier when I didn't have a lay bet matched on Smarkets which was a bit Confused but like @themoneyshed says, better to make the mistakes now whilst it's still small money! I really need to stick with the MB as I have zero on Appen this month and haven't made it onto Crisp yet.
