£10 a day thread, January part two

I'm so happy to see the thread has been ticking along with so many new people joining us Grin

It's been a shitty couple of weeks for me. I started out the new year with an awful sore throat, and it turns out I have glandular fever, so I've been too exhausted for any serious money making.

I'm actually really enjoying Chip! It's proving to be a great way to stash all the little bits of money from profilic etc. so I can see it actually adding up to something.

This morning I've switched bank accounts (£100 for joining, then £100 if I leave unhappy in six months) and managed to reduce my life insurance policy by £9 a month, and get £85 cashback for doing so via Quidco, so I'm trying to be productive.

Hope everyone is having a good January.

@pisspants just been paid by aAppen so they must be on the way through today

whereareyousleep · 13/01/2020 13:56

@lilmishap I've registered for that much I'm not sure Grin. Which ones are they?

themoneyshed · 13/01/2020 14:07

Some other 'fun' topics while you are all on this money earning journey

I use the term 'fun' VERY lightly here!!

Two of the biggest mistakes people make when earning money from home is not tracking the money properly and also thinking to the future which involves pensions if you are self employed

Freeagent tends to be the best app/service to use for keeping track of all your earnings and then submitting to HMRC at the end of the tax year. It's a doddle to use, you can use your smartphone or their website and it's all extremely user-friendly!

blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/freeagent-review/

In terms of pensions Penfold is a good company to use who specialise in pensions for people who are self employed / working from home.
blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/best-self-employed-pension/

Hope that helps some of you anyway!! It's easy to get carried away with earning all the money but it's important to do the 'bread and butter' stuff as well!

Patapouf · 13/01/2020 14:15

Yay new thread 🥳 thanks Otterses, hope you make a swift recovery.

I've another Freetrade code: freetrade.io/freeshare/?code=UGK153IRE3&sender=SAocjP7z You should sign up to Freetrade! It’s an app for investing in the stock market with no fees. Plus, when you sign up, we both get a free mystery share!

I'm going to make a start on matched betting later, wish me luck!

themoneyshed · 13/01/2020 14:16

@Patapouf

I would say 'good luck' with the matched betting but thankfully there is no luck involved! ;)

SimplyBlue · 13/01/2020 14:27

@otterses glandular fever is the worst Sad

Still no news on my rev application. I am telling myself no news is good news, but I don't actually believe it.

toastytea · 13/01/2020 14:35

@rhiji86 we started reliably using buggy board at around age 2 and a half. We didn't have one prior tho and I'm sure it would have been fine from age 2. I had baby in sling and eldest in pushchair until baby got too heavy! Then it was double buggy or buggy and balance bike/walking. Depending on distance and how much of a rush I was in! Also depends on how safe your road is. Obviously on some roads no chance of buggy and bike!!

BertieBotts · 13/01/2020 14:47

MoreMoney yes easy IME. I didn't have any experience. There is a Slack channel and they talk you through anything you're not sure of.

BertieBotts · 13/01/2020 14:48

Oooh my Bemyeye report got rejected :( They want me to retake about three of the photos. Doesn't sound too bad... I will have a go tomorrow.

GachaBread · 13/01/2020 14:58

@BertieBotts sorry to hear that. Photos need to be clear and we need to see what is in the pictures clearly. I approve for BeMyEye so if you need any help just let me know

Patapouf · 13/01/2020 15:04

Me neither @SimplyBlue! For those of you who didn't pass the Rev test, how did you find out?

Haha moneyshed I suppose you are right!

Catatemyhomework · 13/01/2020 15:09

I have a Freetrade share link if anyone would like it:

You should sign up to Freetrade! It’s this app you can use to invest for free. Plus, when you sign up, we both get a free share - might be Apple or Tesla! freetrade.io/freeshare/?code=3JYKWTCY1X&sender=JfpzJuY5

This is my referral link for gener8

Am feeling a bit despondent today, but have had a sore throat that isn't shifting for a few days now and I think it's affecting my mood.

Still no pay from Isoftstone for the voice recordings either, and I'm nearly out of money for the rest of this month. The bills are all paid and the cupboards and freezer are well stocked, but still, it sucks. I should get little bits from Qmee and hopefully I'll hit the £5 withdrawal threshold on Profilic soon. Have sold a couple of bits on eBay but think I'm going to advertise elsewhere as I've got a couple of items that aren't shifting.

Is there anyone who sells old clothes online? I usually donate my old clothes to the charity shop but it would be nice if I could make a little money from them. I'm just not sure what sells or how much to list things for etc. I need to give my wardrobe a good clear out so if anyone has advice on selling clothes online I'd love to hear it!

@Patapouf if I remember correctly from the previous thread, people who didn't pass the test were emailed the next day. I keep checking my spam folder too just in case, but nada.

Catatemyhomework · 13/01/2020 15:28

@SimplyBlue and @Patapouf, I still haven't heard back from Rev either and I took the test last Thursday.

themoneyshed · 13/01/2020 15:31

If any of you are feeling a little bit disheartened because you aren't earning money quick enough or it's taking a little bit of time to get going then hopefully this will give you some Inspiration.

This is just a handful of the target that are being smashed in the January Earnings challenge on TMS so as you can see there is a LOT of money to be made. Yes these people might be further down the track than you in terms of how long they have been doing all this but stick with it and it WILL pay off I PROMISE!!

SlidingDown · 13/01/2020 16:00

I have read a few of your threads and am hoping it's OK to ask advice.

I'm single, a grandma and reluctantly at home because I lost my vision.

Do you think work from appen would be suitable for a person registered blind?

Or can anyone recommend another company? I'm intelligent, quick learner, very fast typist and was working in a good professional position (self employed). I'm not safe going out alone. I hate being in here and can't afford to do anything.

I use a screen reader (and other helpful things)

I hate being home. I want to work but can't find anything suitable for me.

I need to feel useful, worth some thinng. I can't go back to my old career.

TIA, Jemima.

@themoneyshed those are impressive totals! Can I ask what the biggest earners focus on?

@BertieBotts thank you, I'll give it a go!

Lougle · 13/01/2020 16:14

I'm a bit more encouraged. I'm not feeling well today, so can't do anything, but if I had been well I could have done 2 tasks on Roamler for £7 each (there are 4 £2 tasks, but by the time I drove to the town and paid for parking it would end up costing me money) and 4 £4 tasks on BeMyEye. So I could have made £30 today, which is great. Except that I'm not well Grin

justtheonethen · 13/01/2020 16:21

Bah I need to be quicker to get one of those free trade links! Anyone else?

themoneyshed · 13/01/2020 16:22

@MoreMoneyPlease

I would say typically it's a mixture of Risk free Matched Betting, Web Search Evaluator Work, Blogging, Smartphone Task apps etc...

themoneyshed · 13/01/2020 16:23

@justtheonethen

We have a whole thread of freetrade links!

lynsey91 · 13/01/2020 16:34

I did ask on the previous thread but I think it got missed. I have downloaded the freetrade app to my phone but it says it has to be on a locked screen. Is this right?

I don't lock my phone and I don't really want to

SimplyBlue · 13/01/2020 16:44

@SlidingDown Fast typing would be a big plus for transcription work so I'm wondering if that's something you could do?

When I worked as a software tester, one of my jobs was to make sure that websites were compliant with the AA standards of accessibility, which included making sure that they worked with a screen reader. I would think that sites like Upwork, Rev and Appen should meet these standards, but honestly I don't know. It would be against discrimination law if they didn't I should think, but then I suppose it depends on the laws of the land of which country they're based in.
